This performance should be studied from the very first minute to the very last. How he USED the nails, the branches, how he was able to think on his feet! Frankly, there was NO competition. Exotic was actually in competition with himself here. What the young kids needs to learn when doing face is know the character you're portraying before you enter the BUILDING. Stay IN CHARACTER until you leave the runway. Every moment counts. And no shade to the others ... Exotic could have won on his face ALONE without doing anything! But he sold it. He looked hungry for victory and he was going to out-shade you even it meant growing a few more of those damn branches to create extra shade. The entire segment was thrilling, I was yelling at the screen going yeeeesssss, and then I cried at the end when they hugged. Bravo Exotic.
Many of these legends and icons showed why they are legendary and iconic for this category. Now I understand why so many of their predecessors this night were chopped, not so much because they didn't have face but because they simply weren't $10,000 worthy this night. I assume , some members do share with their house members or contribute to "house dues" meaning, money for other members of the house preparation (hair, make-up, costumes, travel , etc.) for the next ball. Not sure how it is for Exotic's house (Miyake-Mugler). I'm old school, pre- 80's and my house would have occasional meetings and gave what we had towards our house.
