    Great video, I'm about to do an install on my Subie and was searching and watching many install videos, this is by far the best. Thanks for sharing your experience, and install.

    I have a 2013 XV with this exact same radio, (as original equipment, I am replacing it now).
    Unlike the car in this video, my hvac controls below connect only by electrical wires and plugs, not by mechanical push/pull connections with a loop on a hard wire.
    My 'electronic' hvac control is much easier to work with. Check your subtype and watch vids for my+1/my-1 to find an exact match for your car.
    This video provides no info for the 2nd white connector on the back of the original radio, (20 pin as 2x10), and overlooks swc/aux/mic functions.
    Even for this Clarion oem unit shown here are versions. I sepnt $12 for a Clarion deep tech manual for this exact model of head unit, and the manual describes a 3rd 20 pin connector on the back of the radio. My XV and Clarion each only have 2 big white connectors, like the vid shows, (see at 7:35).
    The entire subject is a bit swampy.

      Correction, my 2nd white connectior on the back of the Clarion is 16 pin as 8x2. Thx

    man i know this was 7 years ago but when you took out the ground from the old radio did you find place to slide the ground to the new radio or do you not need it?

    With your backup camera, did you have to solder any wires in to any of the harnesses in the front dash or did you just connect it to the reverse lights?

    Very inspiring video! Could you or anyone kindly tell me where to buy the aftermarket harness shown at 10:44? Or what name to search for?

    • @blush416
      @blush416 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I bought an adapter harness that looks like this from a car stereo install shop, (see vid at 10:49).
      For me, the problem is that not all connector locations are populated.
      Mine is empty for pin locations 2/4/11/12/13/14/19. These are needed.
      Avoid this.

      Thank for replying, I ended up getting advice from CRUTCHFIELD and they recommend the right stuff to use. I ordered the basic kit from them and everything worked out pretty good. @@blush416

    Can you add a navigation system to an older Subaru that didn’t have one previously?

    How did you retain your back up camera on the new radio? I noticed the old headunit didn't have a spot for rca cables to fit. Did you buy a converter?

      Look for a double-din sized unit. Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx?lp=%2fcar%2foutfitmycar%2fmycar.aspx) is a great place for browsing and purchasing these radios, as they have great support and customer service. But they are more expensive than other website.

      Need a SWC module and splicing is required. Take it to a proffessional

    did you have to disconnect the negative end of the car battery

    • @ricksegura72
      @ricksegura72  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Luis Fuentes if your going to wire the harness in the car while you have it plugged in then yes I would recommend disconnecting the ground cable from your battery.

    It is a bit irresponsible to do a tutorial without setting the radio models and the low volume.
