Hahahaha, “he’s just jumpin’ off balconies and playin’ with the sheets”…you kill me😂😂😂! Yeah this is definitely one of the BU MV’s and it’s about resisting temptation but ultimately giving in to it as Jin did in the end to V the fallen angel. This song, and the entire Wings album was based on Hermann Hesse novel Damien which deals with good and evil, temptation, different realms etc.
I’m guessing the too much pausing trolls have found your page…ignore it, if they haven’t seen the mv already, they’re welcome to watch it on their own yeah? I think pausing is necessary because there’s just so much going on you need a minute to digest it all which is why I’m also glad you went back and watched it again. There is literally no army who can say they watched a BTS mv in one go and never paused, rewound, or watched it again so…let ‘em scroll on if they must yeah?
Finally, you cannot blame our recommendations if BTS is putting the hurt on you, they’re like that in almost every freaking video. We die and die again…at least we suffer together yeah? Another great reaction! I genuinely appreciate you!

It's super-deep. This video is based on the novel "Demian" by Hermann Hesse, which is tied to the theories of personality and development put forward by Swiss psychotherapist Carl Jung. It is about temptation, as some other comments have noted, but not in a typical "there's temptation and then there's virtue, and you'd better pick virtue or you'll go to hell" kind of way. "Demian" is about the idea that in order to become a fully realized adult human being, you have to acknowledge, confront, and make peace with your own dark side - the violent urges, the sexual urges, the things that aren't considered "socially acceptable." If you try to suppress them and pretend that they don't exist, and continue to live with the simple morality of a child, then you don't have a complex, adult personality; you never mature into a complete person. In the video, we see Jin give in to the temptation to kiss the statue of Abraxas (a god that is both light and dark, not one or the other), and when Jin does, his perfect, child-like facade begins to crack like an egg. In "Demian," Hesse writes, "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world." There's more to it than that, but this comment is really long already. Thanks so much for the information! I have to start at the beginning of the BTS Universe to fully understand how that ties to in to their storyline, though I have heard the story of Damon. But I'm not quite sure why BTS decided to go there in this video.

This song and video are based on the book Demian by Herman Hesse. It is about temptation, good versus evil, dark vs light. That is why there are black doors and white doors.

So many layers in this one. Yes there are a couple of deeper layers. The Wings era centers around a short novel called Damien, by Hermann Hesse. The quotes spoken by RM are from that book. And yes, the deepest level is the BU. You mentioned the painting Jin is looking at in the beginning. It is called The Fall of the Rebel Angels.

The statue in the background is a very famous statue (500 years old) by Michelangelo called "The Pieta". It is Mary, the mother of Jesus, holding his dead body after he was taken down from the cross. My approach to the videos is to watch them first without the lyrics. They are made to be seen and heard - not read. And even when you do read the lyrics, be aware that not all translations are equal. The Korean language has a lot of nuance and subtlety that can't be directly translated.

I'm here for the pausing 😂 I like getting different perspectives from people because they notice different things. I've been in the rabbit hole 3yrs and it's the best . Yes the video ( not the lyrics) expands on tbe BU story. In the BU, V and his sister are abandoned by tbeir mother and left witb their alcoholic father. V kills his father to stop him from abusing his sister...which eventually leads V to suicide. So V was dead througout this video...a fallen angel who's innocense was taken when he had to save his sister by taking a life.

The dance practice for this was the first thing i ever saw of BTS. So yeah, this was the 2nd. I sent a screenshot to my daughter and said, tell me who is who.....I was done for. Bias is Jin but im truly in love with all of them. I love your reactions. its your channel do what you like. Ignore the bullys. 💜

Whoaaaaaaa I never noticed the V thing. That's an amazing detail given the rest of his character in this. I saw somewhere else (don't ask me where - I have no idea) that mentioned the white sheet being like what is used to unveil a statue which makes total sense in terms of when it happens and what it reveals. As for Jimin's shoulder, the guys gave him so much crap for that when they all watched the video together. He swears it was an accident. Uh huh. Right. LOL
I happened to watch the Japanese video of this song this weekend and wow was that psychedelic. That one is most definitely BU, so you should hold off on that for the time being, but it's also connected to this video (and is a total mind f***).
Yeah, I noticed everybody else was dressed up, and he was in pajamas. I'm like, what's going on here? LOL. That definitely makes sense they did unveil him close to the end, showing that his back had scars that's pretty deep. Now jimin knows good and well that that shoulder popping out is not an accident. LOL his shoulder has been popping out since I started watching, and as a newbie, I can definitely say it's on purpose. Yeah, I'm excited to know about this universe they have going on it sounds so cool.
I love their visuals so I always watch the videos several times. Appreciate the eye candy 😉 and then gotta come back to the lyrics, or vice versa, but just can’t do both at the same time. Cannot appreciate it as fully when you’re torn between watching and reading. I’m sure I’m not the only one to watch each video several times to fully grasp everything, especially they have so much subtle or hidden meanings in them.
