Having used the Z Fold 5 for 7 months, I can say without a doubt I don't think I can go back to a normal phone form factor. That iner display is amazing to use, and while a lot of people dislike it, I really like the slimmer form factor of the outer display, since I can use my phone one-handed with no issues whatsoever, and since my fingers are on the slimmer side, I have no problems typing on it at all. Plus with 4 years of updates it'll be awhile until this baby leaves my hands. And when it does, it's on to the next Z Fold itteration.
I was thinking that when I saw the new Flip I maybe upgrade this beauty in 1 o 2 generations I choose the flip because of being compact and damn I love this decision.

The Motorola razr+ 2023 has all the stuff that is new on the flip6 and is 450-500 right now. The new razr+ 2024 is 800-900. And is coming out july 24th. Samsung is crazy with their prices. Apple too.
Got the Z Flip 3 just to be different and never regretted it (1 issue in the 3 years I've owned it, and it was covered by warranty). This is a huge upgrade for folks that are a few generations behind.

The Samsung (vs the new Moto) has superior build quality, better gorilla glass, better moisture/dust resistance, and enhanced Aluminium shell (yes Aluminium is a real term for the metal used in both products). Its a better product than the Moto imo for quality that matters most. I have the Flip4 and its been great but I always upgrade every other release cycle. Just ordered the Flip6 today through Verizon. Got a $400 trade-in for my Flip4 (if you order directly through Samsung they have a $500 trade-in value for the 4). I ordered from Verizon just for convenience. They are also offering a free upgrade to 512gb vs the standard 256gb. I'm looking forward to it primarily 3 reasons. First is the new lens upgrade. Photos and videos from the Flip4 are disappointing, especially since Samsung is known for its superior lens technology. In addition, the new AI capabilities (which were not even mentioned in this video) are outstanding. I'm heading to Europe in a few weeks and look forward to using the new language AI capabilities. Another important feature that was not covered in this video: the vapor chamber for heat diffusion. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it is. The Flip4 gets VERY hot when connecting to bluetooth devices and Android Auto. The vapor chamber is designed to disperse the heat. All in all a very nice upgrade to an already great product with superior build quality.
I just got a ZFlip 5 through my provider a month ago now. It is my first premium phone and I love it, but I'm not in a rush to upgrade to the 6. The 5 is fine and does what I want. I needed a phone that is smaller could translate live, and I'll be honest I think flip phones with screens on the outer shell are cool, the 5 scratches the itch.
They might let you trade it in. RS, it is worth the upgrade for 100 bucks on the samsung website. I upgraded every year for no more than 150. You are going to pay 100 just for a new phone if you damage it. Therefore, upgrading every year makes perfect sense
You gotta figure in inflation. TBH it might come off as more but when you compare it to the original fold its actually cheaper. Not saying this thing is cheap by any means
I upgraded from a flip 3 and its insane how much more complete the 6 feels. Only thing that I didn't need is the big cover screen; flip 3 coverscreen was fine for me.
Here I was just about to pull the trigger on this, only to find out at the very last second that is phone is missing a feature that has been a GIVEN on every high end Samsung device for the last 7 years- Dex. I've used Dex daily since it came out. Thats one of the biggest reasons I always stay in the Samsung ecosystem. I can't believe they just decided to leave it out. I guess I should consider myself lucky Dex even still exists at all. It certainly doesn't get any love, attention, or support. Its just so stinking convenient.
So im using the Flip 6 since 5 days now, the outer screen once you manage to make all Apps work on it is useable for daily drive. Bigger screen would be nice indeed but I dont think you need above 60 FPS unless you try to game on the outside screen. Another caviat is the Battery. If they manage to add fast charge someday the Phone is amazing
i remember when the hinges wore out and the screens was just plastic that people assumed was a screen protector good times, seeing how far we came looks like the newer versions have a stronger hinge as for the screen im scared its still plastic, that said i liked the idea of bringing back the classic flip style phones, also like the idea of an all in one tablet phone, but sadly with all the issues the last versions had i dont see the point in using these as daily drivers, at best these should be used as temp phones imo. cool idea still but the screens arent actual glass and the hinges well hinge might fail after a while.
After my Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 inner screen died and the front outer screen touch also stopped working just after 12 months warranty has run out I wouldn't touch another $am$ung product ever again, the amount of people with similar issues is insane and the customer support is terrible!
You may have experienced a faulty unit, however, it's not an overwhelming issue. If it were they wouldn't make them. We are in the 6th iteration now. Minimal issues......

I've found (and know it to be true of myself) that many z flip owners also have a Samsung tablet they use in concert with it. (I love the mobility of my z flip 5 but sometimes want the bigger screen at home) I think it'd be killer if they could turn that cover screen into a mouse you could pair with your S9 tablet. Just an idea.
Square phone is fine for me, but I'm still very much not fine with the outer display aspect ratio. I was expecting Samsung to follow Oneplus Open. In that regard, I dont think Samsung listened to fans....

The charging isn't faster. It's a no go for me. By themselves, the foldables are good phones. It's just that they refuse to upgrade the charging speed.
I would love to upgrade to the flip 6 but the fact that my flip 5 is only worth half of the trade in value is crazy. I traded in an iPhone 12 last year and got the same amount. Samsung disappointed me

i had the flip4 ( couldn't risk a phone that delicate in my old job ( care with adults with severe mental health so phone could be grabbed and thrown lol)) the crease is honestly not that bad!! it was my worry when I first got it. Once you have the phone for a lil while unless someone points it out or the sun hits the wrong angle you forget its there!! And people who say " I can feel it when scrolling social media " i just don't get, but maybe it me. I scroll with my thumb right at the bottom of my phone, not across the whole screen.

The Fold needs the S-Pen features and ability to slide it into the phone before I look into using it over my beloved Note/Ultra series
@melodia_rysto my internal fold 4 screen has a black bar, where the fold is, screen is useless. Haven't had chance to upgrade but maybe until fold 7
