PMA Class 2020 (Masidlawin) Sunset Parade - 02 January 2017

- The traditional Sunset Parade (or Evening Parade) rendered by the fourth class cadets (freshmen), the PMA Masidlawin Class of 2020, as a tribute to their uppeclassmen (and women) upon the latter's return from yuletide break.
They also want to show their seniors that, in just their few months in the academy, they too learned the drill of strutting their stuff on the Borromeo Field, like bloody peacocks - all on their own. In the eyes of their upperclassmen, however, they look like young pups trying hard to imitate their betters, though they may grudgingly agree that these pups learned something after all. So let's give them some slack...(Though the way they hold their rank alignment during pass and review is kind of impressive, freshmen cadets notwithstanding)
The parading troops was led by Cdt 4C John Tumanda as Brigade Commander with Cadet 4C Julius Del Prado as Brigade Adjutant.

I always admire the discipline and the dedication of the cadets/ cadettes and all the staff of this great institution. I dreamed of becoming a cadet but my parents did not agree especially my mother. The training is at par if not better than the rest of the other military institutions in the world. But some of those graduates were "eaten" and corrupted by the system. It's sad to note that a number of star-ranked officers were enriching themselves while on active duty. Dapat i-firing squad yang mga yan kasi nakakasira sa imahe ng PMA at nong mga graduates na talagang matino till the end. Keep up the high standards PMA!!!
I just hope and pray that these future officers of the the AFP will be true to their motto of "Courage, Integrity and Loyalty."

Wow! Great to see these US military academy cadet uniforms (full dress gray of West Point academy), modified though, are still being used by the Philippines. Looks great on them. Long live the Philippines.

I've been here..and should have graduated PMA batch '99 if not for some unfortunate events and wrong personal decisions i've made i could've been a proud graduate of ths Great Instituition..mybe a colonel now in the afp..

Was not aware until now that part of the plebes’ training included leading a parade like fourth-year cadets. I guess this is the time they’re allowed to wear the sashes and have swords.
I was wondering at the absence of symbols of rank. I am a graduate of the Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, but very much enjoy seeing these similar traditions in the Republic of the Philippines. Wonder how the leadership is decided upon at this fourth class function.

Gusto ko sanang maging kadete noon pero nakita ko ang "Parade Field" nadismaya ako dahil siguradong katakot-takot ang linis ko sa sapatos na siguradong laging mapupuno ng alikabok, sayang. Hinintay ko na baka sakali may makaisip ayusin ang "Parade Field" para mag take ako ng exam pero lumampas na ang mga taon wasak pa rin ang Field. Hindi natuloy ang pangarap ko na maging kadete dahil diyan [biro lang]. Hindi bali na total iyong mga magiging ka-graduate ko sana ay patay na ang iba, at ang iba naman ay nakulong na sa kasakiman! Buhay nga naman!

Hindi future "corrupt officers in the making". Maraming corrupt galing sa private sector at civilian na katulad mo!!! Aminin ko, naging P.M.A. Cadet ako pero hindi ko natapos dahil sa hindi ko na maintain ung grades.. Ung mga natutunan ko sa P.M.A. applicabable sa buhay ko, family life, work, at sa pagtuturo. Malaki naihubog sa akin ng P.M.A. when it comes to INTEGRITY, COURAGE, LOYALTY. nasa tao kung magpapacorrupt sya o hndi. Ikaw, honest k b sa ginagawa mo? O nag White lies ka dn? Sa P.M.A bawal at discharge ka pag gnawa mo! Ang mga anak ko, kht teacher na ako they are trained the P.M.A. way! Proud to have future PMAyers and an Ex-P.M.A. Cadet! Kayo na namimintas hnay hinay kayo, tingnan nyo muna mga sarili nyo.
tama po kayo. Ako Reservist Captain sa Philippine Army. gusto ko nun mag PMA pero di ako pinayagan ng magulang ko dahil may namatay kaming kapitbahay dahil sa hazing sa PMMA. Iba talaga pag may military training yung disiplina ay maiaapply mo sa trabaho at sa buhay. Sana balik na ang basic ROTC sa bansa para hindi na dumami ang bakla sa bansa natin at lampa.

As far as i know sir, it makes the wearer even more taller and intimidating. But some other answers may also even apply and a more relatable fact.
