It's called Ultimate Frisbee, it's somewhat popular in the States. Check out AUDL channel (American Ultimate Disc League) to see highlights and a few full games of the semi-pro teams. It's not a professional sport, so AUDL is the highest skill-level of ultimate you can find.
My understanding is that the pivot foot must be just inside of the line (as the line would be out). She seems to have put the wrong foot in this position, and then used the other foot as a pivot. It's also supposed to be a ground touch, not an opposing player tap (unless play stopped - not sure as this is highlight footage and there might be an edit).
The pivot has to be set inside the field but not on the line. She could have technically been called for a violation here. It'd be a pretty ticky tacky call though, and probably shouldn't be called unless the defender felt like Ma gained an advantage or they were defensively disadvantaged by her position.
@@squidge903 yeah, and it definitely can be a defensive disadvantage if you're expecting the thrower to pivot on one foot and then they pivot on the other. but i don't think that happened in this instance.
ridiculous that this is called "flying disc" instead of Frisbee. (I know that there are trademark concerns, but I think Freisbee would be determined to be generic if it ever went to court.)
You're probably right that frisbee would be considered a generic term, but there'd be years of litigation and changes to names in the mean time. It'd be a hot mess for a while.
So during this pandemic, the organizers put the packed crowd on the side of the field further from the action and facing the sun. The tents are in the shade. We see no fans in the highlight. Great for marketing. These people are so smart.
I was at these games. The organizers did use the much larger East stands, mainly for security reasons. There weren’t enough security to monitor both sides. And with the player’s tent set up on the other side, the West stands were useless. But security did allow us to bring in umbrellas for shade. Not ideal but not too bad. The final game was played at 6 PM. Birmingham is in the Deep South… in the summer… so it was gonna be hot no matter what. All in all, I think the city put on a good display.
Desperately, desperately dull. What a contrived plastic imitation of a pastime. In the pantheon of sports I would rank this below nettle eating, slow bicycle racing and Aunt Sally (don't ask). It is an utterly pointless waste of human life.
@@Wentz08 Don't worry I didn't. I tried for a couple of minutes and felt I was wasting my life. No idea who thought this was a good idea for a game. It is the sort of thing you do on the beach for five minutes, then realise you look ridiculous. In all fairness perhaps it is a sport for those who have failed in life.
Never seen this sport before. It looks interesting and one of the few sports where men and women combine to make up a team.

@@bullfrog0403 Thanks for the tip. Do you play yourself?
Ultimate Frisbee has open, mixed, and women divisions.
@@bullfrog0403 I live in the US and this is the first time I've seen it... I definitely wouldn't say "somewhat popular"
@@acedogg692005 you've probably never heard of disc golf either right?
Well done Aussie team , great fight, done proud.
9:55 respect to nate goff for calling that in
Proud US/Aussie dual citizen ultimate player here thanking you for a great upload of a great game!
This is the best sport nobody's ever seen. I wish I could of been introduced to this Frisbee game when I was a kid. I could of turned pro by now
I loved the aussie defense. Highlight reel quality stuff. Thats what kept them in this thing. This was a really good matchup.
Great win for the USA! 🇺🇸
I play this in Hawaii alot. And wow those people are skilled!
The best bit about mixed frisbee is all the players look the same
Great match - congrats to both teams for worthy grind.
Pretty obvious travel by Khalif at 2:00. He just moves the pivot foot over before pivoting on it.
5:40 also lol
5:40 If the Pivot foot is the Left foot, it definitely doesn't remain in constant contact with the ground
2:03 too
Agreed
oh dude theres absolutely no pivot foot there WTF XD
awesome
4:50 is a violation, right? she has to set her pivot foot on the line? or does it matter which foot it is?

It should be called Ultimate

5:43 is not Travel?
Question from an uninformed spectator: what does the announcer mean by “gender mismatch”? (Example: 5:04)
Since it's a mixed team of men and women, "gender mismatch" means a man is guarding a woman or vice versa.
mia sa ending ui hahaha
Joel Engberg is so good a frisbee
just needs to work on his throwing my and catching
