  • See the F40’s in action on the Metra UP West Line as well as Union Pacific freights. We conclude with an F40 festival at OTC in Chicago as well as Metra/Amtrak at Clinton Street and Canal Street railroad crossings. See Metra’s wide variety of motive power plus a late Amtrak #8 arriving.

    I was born in Chicago but grew up in Baltimore. As Child I use to sit outside my grandparents house on the Southside of Chicago and watch the trains go by. Chicago is train capital of the U.S because every freight and passenger train which Amtrak goes through Chicago from east to west and north to south .

    You are killing us with your KINDNESS in every way! No, we're not Metro North or Your Beloved Long Island, but Metra has it's charm!

      @3985uprr  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I certainly didn’t say anything bad about it did I? How can I get knock anything that runs with so many EMD’s. I will say this. If you ever come to New York to railfan, you can’t pass up New Jersey Transit with their fleet of F40’s and GP40’s. Hoboken is the Chicago equivalent of OTC.

    • @Harveycartoonlvr11
      @Harveycartoonlvr11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3985uprr Oh, Yes...I know Hoboken has Tains taking off every few minutes! Last time there was in teh early 1980s. No, you know I never said you said anything bad 😊 about it...I'm just glad you came to visit the Chicago Area! You may not know it...but you have become quite popular with you great Videos, and we Railfans are just happy you stopped by! I'm glad you caught the Empire Builder, I always boch catching it because it seems to always be running late due to freight train interference with Canadian Pacific and Metra, because RUSH HOUR in Chicago I always say starts at 12:30pm and runs the course of the whole afternoon! Kind of brings to mind New Jersey Highway 1-9...blah! I still have to get used to those F59 Silver and Blue Metra Locomotives...they once belonged to Amtrak California at one time, but they just look out of place to me, and havent' really tickled my fancy as yet! When you were at the OTC, you had quite a feast of Trains...and your Camera swung over towards Lake Street Tower. My Wife's cousin (he is now happily retired) worked at that Tower for many years...been up there, it is all Computerized now, (Union Pacific was in the beginning stages of it when I visited it) and when I visited it still had the US&S "Pistol" Grips, and the "Big Green" CN&W Board above it that showed all the trackwork in and out of what was once, North Western Station. Rush Hour is the true HEADACHE HOUR (I've been told YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT RUSH HOUR IS IN CHICAGO UNTIL YOU'VE BEEN UP THERE, lol) for them as I'm sure it is out East for Dipatchers on the LIRR, Metro-North, and NJ Transit! I didn't put your Videos down... I've really enjoyed them, and always look for the next one to come out! Now where will you go next? Los Angeles is really growing with their METROLINK Commuter Rail System (I don't care for those Double Decker Commmuter Cars with the slanted operator's front, SEPTA I understand has those kind of Cars on order and getting them soon) but out there, Railfans love them...not to mention how LAMTA has grown! Got your tickets for the Coast as yet? 😎

    Fun Fact: 3 Ex Amtrak F40PH locomotives are now a part of metra's giant fleet of F40s. Amtrak 258 is now Metra 215 (unfortunately it broke down in Morton Grove and hasn't been in service since), Amtrak 375 is now Metra 216 and Finally the last Ex Amtrak F40PH locomotive (for the meantime) is Amtrak 364/VRE V32 and is now Metra 217. Btw 216 and 217 are still in operational service today.
    Edit: 217 is only Ex-Amtrak F40PH to remain in service, 216 has been placed into Storage.
