So we plan on going this year as first timers. Can anyone tell me where the cruise to and from so that we can pick a hotel to be able to see most from our hotel grounds??
If you stay at any hotel on the parkway, you will be right in the middle of the action. All the cars park on the spaces near the parkway, so you can just walk into your hotel's parking lot and be right there. There is a sidewalk on the edge of the parkway where everyone sets up their chairs. The best spot is about halfway down the strip, closer to the "Dixie Stampede" aka "Dolly's Stampede" is better.
Also. . . if you have a hard time finding a room, I suggest staying at "Sunrise Ridge Resort." It's not on the parkway, but you can easily avoid the traffic and drive to "Patriot Park," next to "The Old Mill Restaurant," and park for free. You can take a couple foldable chairs and set up anywhere along the side of the parkway or have easy access to walk the parkway with free parking. Sunrise Ridge is extremely nice and affordable. It's not hotel rooms, it's condominiums.
@@angieSkakiltzy the show goes pretty much they entire length of the parkway, but I would begin looking at the go-kart place called "The Track." I Wouldn't go much further past "Dolly's Stampede." Riverside Towers is very central, if you can get a room there or nearby that.
It was a good one. Going back for Shades of the Past this weekend. I'm not sure if they have a location for it or if it's just gonna be a packed strip in Pigeon Forge.
Another great video! You don’t have obnoxious jump cuts or added stupid background music during editing. Just great camera work with nice shots and sounds of the car event. I felt like I was there with ya! Another thumbs up from me. I hope your channel grows!
Were you staying at the Mountain Breeze or just happen to shoot a bit in front of it? That's been our motel to stay at Rod Run or Shades weekend ( which ever I could get off work) for over 30 yrs. Thanks for the coverage!!!
I live in the area. It's about a 10-15minute drive to the strip for me. I just walk up the strip and film the cars driving by, revving their engines the loudest, and the cars that seem to stand out the most. There are a lot of awesome cars I recorded, but couldn't include because there wasn't enough light. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, you did well showing the best of Rod Run. For me it will be my last. Sitting for almost 2 hours to go 2 miles in my 1946 Ford Coupe was NO FUN. The traffic, which local police do nothing to help, was dangerous and killed all joy. The monster truck whatever you call them, blasting smoke from turbos while I sitting in my car signaled Rod Run had passed it's time. Very sad as I attended my first Rod show in Pigeon Forge back mid 1980's. DONE!!!!
I'm sorry you had a bad time. I don't know why they scheduled the trucks the same weekend. I wish they had done it the weekend before. If you decide to try again next year, let me know and I'll show you some good backroads to avoid that mess. I can get you from the interstate to the middle of Pigeon Forge in about 20minutes, no matter how busy it is. Also, the weekend after the Fall Rod Run is when they always did/do Shades of the Past, so it may be a better time to come.
@@journeyofbear6423 I didn't realize it's been around that long. Loved the Grand Rod Run. Always saw a bunch of burnouts on the road in front of the grande.
Great video and thanks for not adding any stupid music to it and letting the cars do the talking
clean shots.. thanks
Thanks. It was tough get many good shots at night.
The first gray T Bucket is mine. Thank you for featuring it!
Man, that thing is awesome! The night video doesn't do it justice. Hope I see it next spring, it was one of the best on the strip!
Also, I may have a video of it in short form. I'll make a video just for it if I do.
That would be incredible! Thank you!
Enjoyed
Glad you liked it.
That first one. Just wow. Good job.
Thanks. I had a bunch of cool clips like that, but it was at night and my camera didnt play nice for me.
@@TheInvisibleRedneck No, you are doing great.
Hello from Gatlinburg TN! I do Vlogs Daily here in Gatlinburg..I met so many nice people here in Gatlinburg with their rides
There were a lot of cool people and cool cars here, for sure.
@@TheInvisibleRedneck yes! Come say hi if you'd like..
So we plan on going this year as first timers. Can anyone tell me where the cruise to and from so that we can pick a hotel to be able to see most from our hotel grounds??
Yeah, it's the main strip that goes right down the middle of Pigeon Forge. It's called "The Parkway" or "Pigeon Forge Parkway"

We just didn't know how far down one way or the other to not go for a hotel. Like what landmarks/businesses not to go past cause you won't see much

Thanks for posting, I did not make it to the Rod Run this year. 😎👍

Having been to several, I agree, Shades of the Past is a better weekend. Seems to be less "hulligans"!@@TheInvisibleRedneck
@@skip7243 can't believe that stopped doing Shades of the Past. Really hope they start it back up again.

THE 55 CHEVY DELIVERY (CASPER) IS MY DADS CAR
That was one of the coolest cars there. I talked to them for a second. Really cool people too!
Also, I have a short clip of them driving down the strip on Thursday in my 1st Fall Rod Run video.
I've got video of Casper in the 90s when it was the Grand Run.

We have had the 55 CHEVY DELIVERY CASPER car since 1984 we did a off frame restoration back in 87. Always kept in garage very solid car and FAST
Where's the two baddies from the cover image? I've been scammed!!!
