Was excited to see you using napkins! Over Christmas I decoupaged sea shells with napkins. Yes, most napkins have several ply’s and took them apart.I’ve seen others do cards with napkins but love your process!❤❤❤

You have boundless creativity and ideas Chrissie. Listening to you when you were thinking of part embossing with a gap in the middle made me think of sharing my brainwave. I don't know if anyone else has tried this, but I came up with an idea a few years ago (which I found, works great too), I made myself a bundle of "partial embossing shims" in various sizes and shapes. I used a few layers of cereal pack card, cut to the size and shape I want or need. Initially this was just to help use those little embossing folders and avoid the edge of the folder leaving a line where I didn't want it, but I found this other use for these card shims. Create them using dies to cut simple solid shapes (eg. hearts, stars, circles etc), or you could use a digital cutting machine (for whatever solid shape you like) or for simple straight sided shapes just use a trimmer. Glue the layers until you build the thickness of a cutting plate ( I used about 3 or 4 layers of cereal box card, or card envelope packaging), check the levels are exactly matching running your finger over both together, they should feel smooth and even laying side by side on a flat surface. You can replace one machine plate with the "card stack shim" to emboss only the shape area of your card stack or you can use two lines up with a gap. Use the base plate, embossing folder with card or paper, the shape shim where you want it, then the top plate. (I think this also may work for partial die cutting too, though I haven't tried that yet.) I hope you can follow my description okay of what I did. What do you think of my idea?
I have done some videos on partial embossing using stacked cardboard shims, they were a while ago I'll see if I can give you a link to one. BTW I also did a video on how to avoid those lines from the edge of an embossing folder. I'll look for that one too.

I can't find the video about avoiding those lines from the edge of an embossing folder, but if you substitute a rubber mat for one of your cutting plates in the sandwich for your machine, you should be able to avoid those lines !

The napkin makes a great background Chrissie, and love the added stamping, and then the pretty clock EF looks great for added texture and the gold wax brings that out beautifully. x

Hi Chrissy, when I suggested to you regarding making your own gilding paste, I used "Let's resin" metal powders, good thing is, you can add some alcohol inks to tone the mix to the preferred shade, I've just tested mine, it's been over three months and it is still stable, not dried out and perfect for use. 😊🌈

You do like to experiment and what great results! I'm thinking I might like to try this with my blank collage paper stamped and put over brown cardstock for a bit of a sepia look if I can achieve that. Or maybe an ink blended background would be better. Of course, your card is nothing short of stunning. And to think this it all began with a little piece of plaid paper napkin.

That is a really elegant card. The gilding wax was genius. Is the embossing folder a Hunkydory, I wonder. Looks familiar. The dilemma of starting a project and then being stopped by an unexpected hitch is a pain. I have enough card, paper, whatever... to start again from scratch. Like you did, though, I will make it work by adapting and adjusting. We didn't build our stash by giving up and wasting stuff! 😉😊TFS❤

QUESTION, CHRISSIE … How much of your card would be covered with embossing if you stuck one corner of your black panel through the opening on the hinge side? AND would the spaces not embossed be aesthetically jarring, or would the whole thing be sufficiently pleasing?
I've often embossed just part of a card panel. Sometimes I've wanted the top part of a folder for the bottom part of a panel, so I've cut through the hinge so that the card could stick out of the upper part of the folder. I then tape the hinge back together for future use!
@@Chrissieannie 😱. I’d be afraid the tape hinge would fail and the two halves slip entering the mouth of the machine, but I’ve come to realize you were one of the daredevils on the school playground monkey bars 🤔 🤣 😉👍 !!
