Hi, I just want to tell about my experience. I started to practice my Pilates on a peak performance for about 6 years and than I practice for about 5 years on a Gratz en now I’m practicing for about 2 years on a contrology and I felt the difference of each reformer. If your starting Pilates you cannot feel the difference but if you have experience you will notice it. So what you are saying is very true. 👍
@@alpsmovement is there a path to becoming a pilates instructor _without_ taking a teacher training course? extensive self-study around certain books or youtube channels?
One thing I would’ve liked to of known before I purchased it was the comfort Of different reformers from brand to brand. I wanted to get a balance buddy but I didn’t wanna spend the money and I didn’t want to wait the time to get it and so I settled for a Merrithew And I hate it. It’s uncomfortable it’s a smaller carriage and unfortunately there were no videos that I could find that really compared the different reformers. So while I enjoy this video I would’ve love to see you more options being compared.
Hey there! Just interested, have you heard of any reputable courses for reformer certification in the Atlanta area? I've watched your previous videos, and your soooo right, it's very hard to navigate.
Hi Nicollette! Unfortunately, I don't know the area so I can't give any advice there. Do you know what kind of teaching you're looking to do? i.e. Group classes, private classes, etc.?
The question I have had is whether Pilates himself would have evolved as new materials and science developed, or if he would have insisted on the old way. I like to believe that if someone explained to him (convincingly) why the science recommended changes to the reformer, he would have agreed to adapt. The follow-up question is whether the changes which have been implemented are truly recommended by a verifiable science.
From what I've gathered, it seems like he would have evolved but I still think a lot of people don't understand what he thought the purpose of the method was, which is part of why things are so confusing now. As much as it's about movement and fitness, I don't think his intentions were as cut and dry as how modern physiological science is done, i.e. I don't think he was as interested in how to develop a strong core to prevent back pain as he was interested in developing a strong body to prevent all pain. Does that make sense?
@@alpsmovement Reading "Your Health" gives the impression that he was quite firm, for lack of a better word, in his exercises. If you were to convince him to change/ adapt, you'd have to work with him closely to reduce his theories down to the fundamentals, and then conduct a detailed study comparing and contrasting his theories with alternative points of view. If you could prove that there is a better way, he'd accept it. Otherwise, he'd insist that his exercises/ system be done his way, or you could do what you want your way, but you couldn't attribute your way to his system. It's not as political as it is conviction. The politics happened later.

What is your preference?
@@cebokazi_marala my preference is a contrology, you have to work deeper from your core.
well crafted metaphor - really illustrates the point well. props
Thanks so much!

It woud be nice if you could describe the equipment you are familiar with in more detail.
