Dear Jools Holland. This is how you do a New Years Eve programme. Fun music, explosions, a TISWAS-esque use of fake snow. Cast, crew, and everyone in the studio enjoying themselves. Have a look on the BBC website for Jools's equivalent programme this year. I for one am sure that the 1st Battalion Scots Guards band are going to excite the studio audience just as much...
It is recorded in mid-December and usually features the same old faces; over-rated laddish bands from the 1990s and tedious 'celebs' pretending to be drunk. There are still some good new acts on the regular series, but the line ups are usually quite predictable. It is a shame, as there is a real dearth of live music on television.
