i think this song is referencing Bahia, a state in the northeastern part of Brazil. i don't know any other Bahia's. also it seems like Japanese ppl in the 80s had a thing for Brazil. some kind of love or passion but i don't know why. most Japanese migrate to são paulo, more than any other place in Brazil. I don't know why they liked it or what captivated them. i think it's interesting. maybe because Brazil seemed magical? tropical climate, beaches everywhere, fun people, warm weather mostly all year round. idk. i think it's cool though. i like brazil too
Japanese people like Brazil for the fact that in a time of war we opened our gates to the Japanese to live in, and that’s also why Brazil has the largest number of Japanese people outside of Japan.
There’s a strong history between the countries, but Brazil also represents a level of freedom and zealousness that is often held back in Japan. There’s a cultural oppositeness that’s appealing to the Japanese. I backpacked all around Brazil and made a lot of Japanese friends (they did specifically like to visit Bahia) and they could come out of their shell in and express themselves in a way they just couldn’t do back home
art.
very nice
