So the crazy part is that the FIRST time I watched this video a few weeks ago I had no clue what the hell you were talking about ...then I did a livestream for a client and ran into a few hiccups as well ...came back to watch this again and COMPLETELY understood everything you mentioned!! GREAT OVERVIEW!!
That’s awesome. I think so many people get paralyzed by thinking they need the perfect setup and they don’t start. It’s all about trial and error to me and I’m glad you got your stream going.
Outstanding video, sir! Consider adding a cage to your DSLR and mirrorless cameras so you can use an HDMI clamp to protect mini and micro HDMI ports from the stress of the weight of the cable. Smallrig makes great cages. You can get a cage and the HDMI clamp for around $100. Way cheaper and less hassle than having to get a damaged HDMI port repaired.
@@SuperCleary Yes it really does! this kinda behind the scenes makes it more clear then ever, cable length, power you need, size using zoom screen etc.
19:50 Upstream happens before the switcher output, Downstream happens after the switcher output. Natively, an Upstream Key (USK) is useful for setting an individual input as an overly, so for example an animated 'lower thirds' (an interviewee's name for example). It is also what handles the picture-in-picture effect (by making Camera 1 a small box that floats over camera 2, or whatever way you have it set). A Downstream Key (DSK) is for floating something over the entire broadcast, such as your channel logo, the assets in the Media Pool there, or a watermark. Now you don't HAVE to use them this way, you can do a lower-thirds as a downstream key, it'll work just fine. Where the USK shines is with greenscreening / chroma keying; putting a virtual background in behind someone or floating them in on top of something else (called a flying key). The USK has a lot more fine control than the DSK does for doing this kind of effect. A "pre-multiplied" image is a .TARGA image file with the correct information encoded that allows it to work as a transparency for doing overlays (e.g. a watermark or 'bug'). This has a similar effect as what you'd get using a .png with a transparent alpha channel in an NLE video editor. (N.B. the ATEM won't see the alpha on a .PNG, it will just display it the same as any other image). And that's my ropey explanation of Upstream Key, Downstream Key, and pre-multiplied images.
This is great. I just need a little clarity on the need for the hard wire Ethernet to the atem mini pro since the meeting willl be streamed from the computer.
Nice run through of your setup. I always find dry runs very useful ahead of the actual event to sort out any issues with kit. There's always so much happening on the actual day so it's best to be prepared.
Dya not love the thrill of turning up completely unrehearsed, then being devoured alive by the flop-sweat panic of something not working only to resolve the issue minutes before going live? Some buzz...
Great walkthrough! I am expecting my mini Pro to show up today so I have been going through some of these videos seeing how people are using it in different ways. A couple of quick notes... 2 investments for your consideration (I hope you don't mind) would be some good V Mount batteries with D/P tap plates to be able to power some of that gear longer without having to drop power cables. Also, some cages and cable clamps for your cameras to take the weight of where the adapters/cables are hanging from the HDMI ports on your camera body to protect those jacks... seriously though, thanks for sharing this, very helpful walkthrough.
Well done indeed; I must share your video with those who thinks AV is a simple task. Those who doesn't realize how much efforts in the background it takes to watch a clean video on their devices or virtual conference screen
Quick zoom settings tip. In audio settings - > advanced settings, turn off noise suppression if you're going to run any sort of music bed on a pre-show countdown or break between sessions. Zoom will try its hardest to kill your music (since it isn't someone talking), and turn it into a compressed mess
You should consider taping the cams HDMI cables to the tripods, for the sake of your cameras sockets. In German we have a word for it that translates "relief of the strain"
This was great thanks. I did my first live multi-cam on Zoom last night. I came across most of the issues you discussed. My only trouble was trying to coordinate a Powerpoint presentation with only one computer and trying to share screen on Zoom. I got it working but a 2 PC setup would have been easier.
I was using a MacBook Pro it was happy enough to run both. My difficulty was in trying to find the correct screen to share in Zoom. I used PowerPoint in dual screen mode with the laptop being one and the Atem input being the other. I kept sharing the wrong screen to my audience. I think it was down to me not planning carefully enough and perhaps dare I say not practicing enough beforehand.
@@SuperCleary I really dig that space for all the different shots, hence the logistic chaos!! You seem to have a good set up. Once your done with the Live segments are you doing any post production after and then rebroadcasting??
Instead of a second pc, add a second screen, I use a 5 inch field monitor as a second screen, I run the Atem software on the main screen and a google chrome tab , vlc, or power point on the second screen of the same pc (my graphics card has two outputs). Then output from the field monitor into the Atem. Some people use the atem itself as a "second screen". Great vid
Oh I like that! I’m always concerned though especially on a live stream where clients have paid to avoid loading my cpu with any extra tasks. Do you notice a difference in performance?
@@SuperCleary I thought about that also, I run a desktop (very small mini-itx) with a desktop class I7-4770 and 16gb of ram with a GT 1050, all be can be had for under $500 and it runs just fine. The Atem control doesnt use up much cpu, and while running OBS and recording at the same time it never gets about 30% cpu usage with a second tab running a youtube graphics video in loop at 1080. I do understand what you mean by "tasks". Ive ask'd an assissant (I only have one) to 'open power point and drag it over to the to the second screen' and got back nothing but stares, so I understand. But its an option!
Too Shmart that’s a good idea. I’m just always so hesitant to do anything to jinx the feed stability. More testing and experimenting for sure. I like that about this whole setup though that you can so easily plug and play different sources

@@SuperCleary That is a great idea! I have a GoPro 8 and Insta360 and I think it would be fun to have those as camera 3 to give some "feel" to the events. I am REALLY impressed with your content man. I appreciate the detail you are putting in. It is awesome!
Appreciate it. Especially because zoom is going to squish your feed down to 640, you can get away with some seriously crappy cameras, just invest in clever angles (free) and good lighting (can be all sorts of things) and you can get so much out of them

That’s really important to realize too. Figure out what platform is going to provide the best solution for you and run with that. Just because I use zoom doesn’t mean it’s right for everyone. I would prefer to stream to TH-cam because I think the quality is highest but I need a higher level of interaction that it can’t provide
@@SuperCleary Agree. With the Atem you can Stream out to TH-cam, Facebook at 1080p Skype and Zoom only stream at 720. And you cannot Stream out to Skype or Zoom and use the ISO Recorder at the same time.. But ITs much better than a cell phone :) Keep it up !
upstream key can appear with a transition, think switching from news anchor scene (camera 1) to weatherman scene (where chromakey is applied between camera 2, with talent aka the key, and camera 3, the graphics used as background). downstream key allows for instance to have a logo at all times in a corner. premultiplied key applies to the media pool, where you can upload PNG graphics with a transparency layer. (say, the afore-mentionned logo)
In about a 20 live sessions we had a network issue once and I think it was attributed to local weather because we've not had the problem before or since. Network speed is always one of those things that gives me heart palpitations.
Great video. I will have to check out the HDMI streamer. Have you thought about using the Atem’s tally app on phones mounted onto at least the two ground-level camera so that the speakers know which camera is live? It works fantastic for static cams.
SuperClearyPhoto no worries. You can access a webpage from the phone as long as you are using the same internet connection however I found that not everyone could access it. Luckily all the crew have iPhones and there is an app for £2 that works really well instead. If you have static cams the speaker can see which is live (red) or cued up (green) or which camera is live/not cued up (black).
Excellent video...thanks for the thorough rundown of equipment used. Quick question - what kind of stand (or tripod setup) are you using to mount the Go Pro. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the walkthrough, great stuff. One question, if the audio is coming out from the TV, wouldn't the microphone picks up the sound and causes feedback?
It hasn't been a noticeable problem. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) the way zoom manages the audio on meetings it helps cancel that feedback out.The only audio coming out of the TV is if an attendee in the meeting is unmuted and talks.
That was my problem recently when I had a similar setup. The Zoom causes a loop so that people where listening my voice twice. I had to put in my airpods but heard myself in an echo what was quite disturbing.
@@CardSharkGermany So if you turn down the speakers you have putting out the sound and keep your mic away from those speakers there won't be much bleed.
Thank you, very informative! What is your workflow/hardware, etc. if you are recording Zoom and your Guest Presenter is remote (not in studio)? I have no ATEM, but 2 capable computer. Do I need an ATEM? Best regards to all.
Very nice video. Thank you! A quick question: in my case, I would need a multicamera setting for music lessons. For the audio, I am using an external soundcard to which I have connected professional microphones. Is it possible to connect that to the Atem mini in order to have video and audio perfectly synchronized? Thank you again
very nice explain. nice setup. i have three questions : 1) you dont have many latency with hollyland wifi (on sony cam) ? 2) your nikon Z6, you use the batterie normaly ? 3) your gopro is good quality images ? (vs Z6 and sony) ? thanks
No latency problems at all with the hollyland. On the z6 if it’s a long shoot I would use external power. The GoPro is fine for creative angels or big wide shots. It’s not a primary camera in the feed.
Great setup tour. I'm curious about the Hollyland, my Paralinx Ace just crapped out and am wondering how noticeable the delay is when switching from that to another camera that is hardwired. For instance, could you do a PIP or a split-screen with the upstream key and have the frames match? Also, no link to the Ethernet switcher, which makes a lot of sense. I'm in a similar situation as yourself, and watching a set-up by an actual production producer using Zoom, as opposed to a gamer into Twitch, made this year worth surviving.
Could you come back to the Ethernet set up? You completely lost me on that one. I think I get that you might want your laptop hard wired to the Internet connection. But don't you have to go to the computer from the ATEM to be able to get it into the Zoom meeting? Also, if you are sending what's on the laptop, The Zoom window, to the monitor for the presenter via Airplay does that limit you to manually operating the ATEM rather than with the software. I assume if you are using the software then that is what the presenter would be seeing on the big TV. Yes? Thanks again.
You're correct. I have the ATEM on the lan for redundancy. I think it's better for the connection if everything is connected (and I leave it set that way because some things I go straight to facebook or youtube and use that setup without the usb-c to the computer) I'll switch between using the switcher and the software because you can't do everything on the switcher. For the airplay I go between mirroring the display and using the TV as a separate display depending on what I'm doing. The presenter doesn't necessarily NEED to see the audience, it is just a nice to have, and is really just most important so they can get audio.
Super instructive and helpful - great advert for your services, not least your style! You should be front of camera! I see you answered questions - hope you're still open for more. I am a professional presenter going online for obvious reasons. I have an ATEM Mini (not Pro) and cameras etc. I've been trying to do some mixing of sources - me in front of green screen, use chroma and Key On to overlay me onto slide show, while outputting through Zoom My set up is very similar in principle to yours (albeit not as impressive) and it all seems to work - pretty sure there are no output issues at my end and plenty of broadband capacity (hardwired). However, the visual feed is prone to freezing to viewers (audio is fine). It's difficult to replicate precisely. I notice you don't appear to mix input feeds like this. Any ideas what my issue might be? Few thoughts so far: 1. Am advised that there might be some issue where the ATEM output is not optimised to Zoom compression algorithm. Might my mixed output (video over slide) be causing some problem after it leaves my laptop? 2. Would the number of viewers make a difference? Seems difficult to replicate with 1-5 viewers but problem has been consistent at 2 events with 100+? 3. Zoom server capacity restricted? On a trial, my viewer noticed a definite tweak in quality at precisely 1400 (post lunch meetings starting?). Could overall system capacity be causing my problem? Any ideas / thoughts appreciated. Justin
Thanks! So the company I put this on Zoom with has a high-level subscription so I've actually been able to talk through with one of their reps, because we've had hiccups a few times as well. First, make sure your connection is hardwired. Running over wifi is a no go. Second, number of attendees should have no impact on the stability of your output. That said the rep did say if you have stability issues to mute and turn off video for zoom guests. The way zoom works, that SHOULD NOT, be a factor, but again, Zoom themselves said it could have a result. In my experience looking at the statistics that come out of the video feed, as the feed shifts back and forth between your feed and people who are guests you can see it shifts the bandwith around. Worth investigating. Zoom also has all their behind the scene stuff going on to that can be difficult to make sense of. I had a stream that was perfectly stable. Then for 30 mins it cut my quality in half. Then it went back to full strength with no changes on my side. Very frustrating when we're hosting paid experiences.
I take it you got no insight into whether the combined source output (video overlaid on slide) might be an issue. Apologies - you gave an inch and I took a mile! :)
No prob. So it can have an impact if you’re internet connection was limited. A black screen requires less data to stream them an insane graphic fractal. When I “test” the stream I have a camera live and then just have someone move frantically all over the frame. You’ll notice the bandwidth stats will skyrocket and if your connection can’t handle it your frame rate may start dropping (video preferences - statistics in the menu). In the same shot if everyone stops moving and stays still that requires less data. Your overlay may have a ton of stuff going on and that could be pushing the limits of your connection. Test it with the statistics open
Hello. Nice video. Thank you very much. My question is: can you run the full setup into a live zoom Meeting and at the same time also as a livestream on TH-cam. You said "either or" in the beginning and I just want to know. Also. Is it possible to use one of the HDMI inputs to plug in the zoom computer and show the participants of the zoom meeting as an input source? So my setup would be: 2 Cams, one computer with zoom attendees, one computer for presentations and videos. Is that possible?
My pleasure. My hunch was right when I made this video that a lot of people were also going to have to take a livestream crash course and was hoping to save people some time.
So the way we have remote “panelists” is they just join the zoom like a regular participant and we make them cohost and shift the spotlight to them. To get their feed to actually come through the “main feed” through the atem creates a whole boat load of headaches and issues
@@SuperCleary that’s exactly what I’m looking to do: I want to use the Atem for an in-studio host, but with many additional panelists Zooming in from other locations. I’d like to be able to use the Atem features like lower thirds on the remote panelists. Is there any way to do this???
Brilliant content & in depth tips, thank you very much. Quick question - do you know of a way to use picture in picture/multiview on the output source using all 4 inputs? Example: 4 PS4's playing a game, a projector as the display shows all four hdmi inputs, displaying 1/4 of the screen each. Is this possible with the ATEM? Thanks so much in advance!
@@SuperCleary oh really, that would be very useful! If you do happen to stumble across the option please do let me know, the 4x picture in picture seems to be the difference between a £500 or £2k setup!
hi, and how do you record the zoom meeting? The feature included in the Zoom webinar/meeting produces only a 480p (ancient times), i would like to deliver to my clients at least a 1080p. Any suggestions?
You could always look for a 4G ethernet router like the 601 from D-Link ... I use that with my ATEM mini when doing outdoor concert streams - just put a SIM in for the strongest 4G network locally and plug the Mac/Atem into the ethernet ports on the back ...
I expected it to be a problem but it just hasnt been. It is possible the mix minus in zoom filters it out, but also the tv isnt very loud and the lavs work great
Thank you. very generous! I'm curious if you are recording these sessions, and if so, how? I see ATEM allows you to record direct to an SSD or thumbdrive, but you're using that USB - C port for the camera as a webcam. OBS, or...? Thanks!
So the only way to capture the zoom interaction without making it super complicated is to just record to the cloud via zoom. With a much more complicated obs setup you can record your side of the broadcast but also will have to consider if it will effect your system performance. Also you can’t record the output directly to a ssd over usb-c because you will have to use the connection to connect from the atem to the computer so the computer sees it as a webcam source. Not at all confusing lol
@@SuperCleary I wonder if you could run the HDMI out from the atem into a cam link or similar hdmi-to-usb converter....then use the usb c for recording.
I think something like that would probably work. I saw another commenter talking about that but I frankly don’t know much about it. For me, I don’t need the high quality recording so I just haven’t worked the problem.
@@ShawnBusse But you lose the multiview function which is essential for multi cams. OBS is one way but it hogs the laptop resources while relying on it for running zoom. Hopefully Blackmagic can work around this issue. 1 promising way is to make use of the ethernet.. with virtual cam in obs... but i have yet to give it a try yet.
Do u record from zoom or separate HD or Atomos v ninja? did u notice that zoom downgrades HD setting to 640x340 without notice to customers . can u tell me why is a switcher better than a router ?
I just record the zoom meeting within zoom on the cloud. Without doing a complicated process, you can't capture the zoom interactions without just using that to record it. Use, Zoom downgrades the footage to 640. That's just how it is. A switcher and a router are very different things. If you have no need to use multiple camera and audio sources for your live stream, there's almost no reason to add a switcher to that process.
So for zoom output it is less important because the internet connection comes from whatever the computer is connected to. But when you’re doing Facebook or TH-cam or anything through obs you do not have to plug the atem into the computer and can run the stream right from the atem. It will be discoverable on the computer over the network. That frees the usb c output to plug in a hard drive and record.
A whole bunch of different ones between 10-25 feet. I only get regular hdmi cables but have a bunch of adapters to get them on the cameras. For the roaming camera I just use an hdmi transmitter
this has helped me. thanks. I am confused why you hardwired ethernet to the ATEM & the computer running the zoom if the ATEM is being used as a webcam? Can you clarify possibly?
@@SuperCleary Great thanks, I was just talking with one of our IT /former broadcast experts, I guess Windows 10 can wirelessly connect to a TV, if it's a newer TV which has wireless connectivity. Thank you!
@@SuperCleary Wow I am surprised I have not heard or seen that anywhere, regarding control for an iOS device. Thanks for the quick reply, your video helped me out big time trying to figure out.
I don't know how to search comments from my phone. So, what kind of upload speeds do you need or more to the point are you using for this particular Zoom meeting? What is your upload data rate? Nobody seems to talk about that during these how I did this videos. Not expecting a reply but would love one
Zoom is self governing so the quality of the stream will fluctuate depending on your connection. Zoom also caps at 640 for normal accounts so as long as you’re plugged in you’ll have plenty fast speed to maintain that
Okay I can look up on Zoom what they require and what they're capped at? Do you have a super fast upload speed to tap into for just any purposes that you might have? When you say 640 you mean 640 by 480? If you ran a Speedtest on your internet connection the upload speed is? I think the arem mini pro the lowest I can go is 4 Meg a second. I tried to do stream going into a computer on a very slow Home Connection I think it came back at .5 Meg a second. I used OBS to try to dumb down my upload speeds I was able to do a multi-camera shoot with a mixing board four microphones and with only slight amount of video pausing the audio was perfect the whole time. I'm trying to say more here but the question I had for you earlier wasn't answered by what Zoom will accept.
I’m sorry I didn’t properly answer that for you. I have a normal wired internet connection and have also run this over wireless too and hadn’t had an issue. But for corporate level stability hardline is a must.
I assume if you’re asking the question you’re going to need the usb c connection to run straight to your computer and can’t use that to plug in a hard drive? What platform are you streaming to?
when using the speakers of the TV as your audio output for the zoom meeting, how do you avoid the feedback/echo? as i understood it: presenter's voice is recorded with the sennheiser, the TV speakers are the audio output for the zoom call?
So in this setup you would have to record in camera or just use the zoom recording if you want that interaction. I’ve since got the atem extreme iso and it has a second usb slot so I can record that way now
thx for the video! But with your setup can you record from ATEM mini out to a hard drive? Or is the usb-c out from the ATEM already taken to your laptop? I have a very similar setup as yours but wanting to record the Zoom with the ATEM, so far i can not find a solution.
Yea in my follow up video I’m going to address this more. The short answer is you can’t. The long answer is you can with obs running in your computer but it’s complicated.
@@eduardomenz9135 I actually have gotten so frustrated with this, I actually just remain a broadcast last week where I recorded natively on the individual cameras and now have the raw files. Using OBS was too processor intensive on my computer and caused a breakdown in the stream quality.

Hi another qs. Are the microphones wireless? Also If you wanted to play backing music such as music for someone to sing along to, how would you do that? Thank you so much
In this setup yes I’m using lavs. But you could also mix in shotguns or whatever else you wanted. If you wanted a backing track or something that would be mixed into the feed I’d probably just put a computer on one of the inputs and have it be used to play the back track. There would need to be some troubleshooting so that the singer could hear the backing track without a ton of feed back but I’m sure it’s doable.
Some do some don’t. You will for sure have to test your camera settings to see how they behave when they are left on for long periods. Some overheat too
Delay to Zoom / SKYPE is Caused by the Distance the Signal travels to the Zoom / Skype Servers then back to you.. This cannot be helped. You need to make sure you are monitoring your Output Before your Video Conference Software. Thus the Monitor setup we are discussing.. Yes this adds more complications.. It not as easy as simply streaming your feed out to the web.
thanks so much for this! I have a question though, i wanted to connect my pro iso to my late 2015 imac (unfotunately, no usb c ports). I wanted to use usb c to record to ssd but connect pro iso to computer. Should I use the network link through ethernet? btw, im running ecamm live...to stream out.
So it’s sort of complicated. Depending on what you want to do it might not work. If you connect the atem via the network switch and not the usb c you won’t be able to use the atem as a webcam source but you can do it as a stream. How are you planning to use it and I should be able to better answer you
@@SuperCleary I've been wracking my brain over this. So I wanted to get all the features of the iso to be able to record all the stream to ssd, but also get the stream and filter through ecamm live to go out to zoom, youtube live, facebook live, etc. Since I cant get webcam out from network switch, and the stream bridge is shaky/not available, would it make sense to purchase another atem mini and CHAIN BOTH devices that way? So i can get both the stream (connect to computer from the mini), multiview from iso hdmi out, and recording capabilities from iso usbc out to ssd.
@@BiGGMiCC Ha yea its quite a conundrum and not sure if it is something they can just unlock in the future with firmware. My first thought was to just put the usbc out into a USB hub to split it -- 1 into computer and 1 into ssd, but unfortunately that doesn't work either.
Hi - use an Elgato Camlink or Elgato Game HD60 - these will take the HDMI out of the ATEM Mini and convert it to a normal usb input that you can feed into your iMac - your streaming software will then see that as a video source.
You’ll either need to use the second display as it’s own display or accept when you need to make changes in the atem software the zoom conference will be blocked for a moment. But remember, the attendees will not see what you’re doing on your computer screen. It’s just that you’re blocking your view on the attendees while you’re using the softeare

@@abhishekgupta7788 thanks for clearing that up. So you definitely don't need the ATEM to do that. My thought is that zoom is likely not the best platform to do this type of "split" broadcast. There are services I believe called like "restream" or something like that, that can get a live stream signal and then redistribute that to different services. Another option would be to use the new services from zoom, like Webinar so instead of having to run 5 meetings, you're running 1 webinar where the attendees are now anonymous

You're doing the lord's work, sir.
Thanks. I hope you can put it to good use
Nice run through of your setup. I always find dry runs very useful ahead of the actual event to sort out any issues with kit. There's always so much happening on the actual day so it's best to be prepared.
Ha that’s a fact but most of what I’ve learned has been live though. Especially with the oddities of how zoom works
Thanks good luck! Appreciate the tips and am always looking to figure out what will make it smoother
Well done indeed; I must share your video with those who thinks AV is a simple task. Those who doesn't realize how much efforts in the background it takes to watch a clean video on their devices or virtual conference screen
Yea. It’s a huge undertaking even with this sort of patched together setup
Quick zoom settings tip. In audio settings - > advanced settings, turn off noise suppression if you're going to run any sort of music bed on a pre-show countdown or break between sessions. Zoom will try its hardest to kill your music (since it isn't someone talking), and turn it into a compressed mess
That’s a fantastic tip. Everything is a workout to get zoom to operate properly
@@SuperCleary thanks. Took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out, so I try to pass it along 😊
Thanks for getting back to me. Great idea...I’m on it.
Wild West Productions - Audio Video & Live Sound and of course the right hdmi adapter that fits with the housing
You should consider taping the cams HDMI cables to the tripods, for the sake of your cameras sockets. In German we have a word for it that translates "relief of the strain"
I like that!
WE use Trick line for that.. in the Buiss :)
thanks for telling that you can run an computer hdmi into the atem wow i dident even think about that very handy
It creates an insane number of options. From graphics to running slide shows (using picture and picture too)
This is extremely useful. Thanks.
You got it 👍
Been a long time... Good Stuff Super Cleary... Cheers... Shout out Long Island!
Great to hear from you and I checked out your channel. Love it!
This was great thanks. I did my first live multi-cam on Zoom last night. I came across most of the issues you discussed. My only trouble was trying to coordinate a Powerpoint presentation with only one computer and trying to share screen on Zoom. I got it working but a 2 PC setup would have been easier.
Share screen on zoom is a disaster. Like you said: 2 computers is the best solution
If your computer is beefy enough you could actually run power point on the same computer you’re running the meeting on
I was using a MacBook Pro it was happy enough to run both.
Very informative video. It is very hard to go over all things you have going on but this is a great visual of your set up.
Ha yea. It’s a maze and a mess but it all makes sense eventually

Awesome! This sort of flow will work sick for online workouts. And don’t hesitate to use things like gopros for extra camera angles
Especially because zoom is going to squish your feed down to 640, you can get away with some seriously crappy cameras, just invest in clever angles (free) and good lighting (can be all sorts of things) and you can get so much out of them
@@SuperCleary I am with you on the lighting! Picked up a set of LED lights that go from candle to sun with remote. They really help! Skype works much better for us.. and good luck .. you have discovered our daily challenge :)
Thanks for posting!
This was excellent, this helped answer tons of questions in one video. Thanks Brother, your appreciated!
Awesome. I hope everything works out for you
Awesome video man
Garment Creations thanks. I think the video is pretty janky actually but the content is hopefully good!
upstream key can appear with a transition, think switching from news anchor scene (camera 1) to weatherman scene (where chromakey is applied between camera 2, with talent aka the key, and camera 3, the graphics used as background).
downstream key allows for instance to have a logo at all times in a corner.
premultiplied key applies to the media pool, where you can upload PNG graphics with a transparency layer. (say, the afore-mentionned logo)
Thank you so much for this walk through and sharing of gotchas.
My pleasure
Fantastic. Thanks for that. Any issues with latency or lag?
In about a 20 live sessions we had a network issue once and I think it was attributed to local weather because we've not had the problem before or since. Network speed is always one of those things that gives me heart palpitations.
Complicated but engineering planning is damn good.
Thanks!
Great video. I will have to check out the HDMI streamer. Have you thought about using the Atem’s tally app on phones mounted onto at least the two ground-level camera so that the speakers know which camera is live? It works fantastic for static cams.
sbmedia28 I am hearing about that for the first time now. Thanks for the tip I’ll check it oht
Super helpful thank you
Loved this! Super helpful Cleary!

Excellent video...thanks for the thorough rundown of equipment used. Quick question - what kind of stand (or tripod setup) are you using to mount the Go Pro. Thanks in advance!
I have a tripod adapter gopro clip screwed onto the top of just a cheap light stand. Then I have usb c power and an hdmi cable running up to it.
Great video, thanks for sharing!

Put your ATEM into program preview mode using ATEM setup program - that is how to get the benefits of the ATEM as a real switcher.
Yup I’ve played around in both modes. Great tip
@@SuperCleary Thank you, I will try to do it and maybe narrow down the microphone input. Fingers crossed.
@@CardSharkGermany Also make sure you have no one else in the zoom room on a device nearby. That would create a crazy feedback loop too.

Thank you again
unameta that would work great. You would just take your audio source into mic 1 or mic 2 channel and then adjust the audio delay as needed
very nice explain. nice setup.
i have three questions :
1) you dont have many latency with hollyland wifi (on sony cam) ?
2) your nikon Z6, you use the batterie normaly ?
3) your gopro is good quality images ? (vs Z6 and sony) ?
thanks
No latency problems at all with the hollyland. On the z6 if it’s a long shoot I would use external power. The GoPro is fine for creative angels or big wide shots. It’s not a primary camera in the feed.
@@SuperCleary thks you
Great setup tour.
Funny enough I've noticed no disconnect between the two but haven't look very hard for it. I'll check it out the next time we run both cameras.
Thank you for sharing!!!
13:30...I learned that the hard way!
I think it's better for the connection if everything is connected (and I leave it set that way because some things I go straight to facebook or youtube and use that setup without the usb-c to the computer)
I'll switch between using the switcher and the software because you can't do everything on the switcher. For the airplay I go between mirroring the display and using the TV as a separate display depending on what I'm doing. The presenter doesn't necessarily NEED to see the audience, it is just a nice to have, and is really just most important so they can get audio.
Very useful, thank you.
Thanks!
Super instructive and helpful - great advert for your services, not least your style! You should be front of camera!
I see you answered questions - hope you're still open for more. I am a professional presenter going online for obvious reasons. I have an ATEM Mini (not Pro) and cameras etc. I've been trying to do some mixing of sources - me in front of green screen, use chroma and Key On to overlay me onto slide show, while outputting through Zoom
My set up is very similar in principle to yours (albeit not as impressive) and it all seems to work - pretty sure there are no output issues at my end and plenty of broadband capacity (hardwired). However, the visual feed is prone to freezing to viewers (audio is fine). It's difficult to replicate precisely. I notice you don't appear to mix input feeds like this. Any ideas what my issue might be? Few thoughts so far:
@@SuperCleary Thanks for fast, detailed response - much appreciated
@@SuperCleary Great tip about the statistics. Thank you!
Thank you, thank you!
Hello.
So my setup would be:
2 Cams, one computer with zoom attendees, one computer for presentations and videos.
Is that possible?
Question 1) yes. You can run to TH-cam and zoom at the same time.
Question 2) I’ve not done it but I don’t think it wouldn’t work.
@@SuperCleary thank you so much for the very quick response!!
My pleasure. My hunch was right when I made this video that a lot of people were also going to have to take a livestream crash course and was hoping to save people some time.
What would you do technically to get a zoom participant to join a discussion via audio and video? - thank you for the nice tutorial!
@@77megapixels53 short answer no
Brilliant content & in depth tips, thank you very much.
You could probably actually just use the hdmi out to display the four screens in a grid. It may be one of the view options in the atem software

So I layout three options here
Hey I layout three options here th-cam.com/video/v3yRsXak_9s/w-d-xo.html and the short answer is there really aren’t any great ones.
Woah awesome!! What if client does not have an ethernet but only access to public wifi? Does it still work?
You shouldn’t host a stream over wifi. The stability gets really questionable. If you mean can a client join a zoom meeting over wifi, that’s fine.
You could always look for a 4G ethernet router like the 601 from D-Link ... I use that with my ATEM mini when doing outdoor concert streams - just put a SIM in for the strongest 4G network locally and plug the Mac/Atem into the ethernet ports on the back ...
Good job! How did you prevent the hosts mic audio from feeding back out of your TV monitor? Just using the ATEM audio inputs solves that?
@@SuperCleary Thanks for the reply. I'll see what I can find out - also pinging another channel I see you on (Tom, the world's most generous teacher)
If you have no need to use multiple camera and audio sources for your live stream, there's almost no reason to add a switcher to that process.
could you clarify the benefit of connecting the atem mini pro directly to ethernet in a zoom setup? thanks very much!
Ok. Last question. Honest.
What HDMI cables are you using from camera to ATEM? How long can you safely go? Thanks again.
A whole bunch of different ones between 10-25 feet. I only get regular hdmi cables but have a bunch of adapters to get them on the cameras. For the roaming camera I just use an hdmi transmitter
@@SuperCleary Thank you very much. Very generous of you to share so much info. Cheers

this has helped me. thanks. I am confused why you hardwired ethernet to the ATEM & the computer running the zoom if the ATEM is being used as a webcam? Can you clarify possibly?
also, do you have any suggestions for how else to mirror the zoom meeting on a big TV like that other than airplay? (using PCs)
With atem on the network you can do cool stuff like use the companion app and get switching control on any iOS device.
Hardwire with hdmi from the computer to the tv?
I just want to say how super cool you are being. Thanks.

Hi, I am putting together a similar set up. What I would like to do is record the live stream. Have you found an efficient way to do so?
I assume if you’re asking the question you’re going to need the usb c connection to run straight to your computer and can’t use that to plug in a hard drive? What platform are you streaming to?
I might be able to give you a more specific answer but in my follow up I lay out three options th-cam.com/video/v3yRsXak_9s/w-d-xo.html
@@SuperCleary great! let me check that out to see if it solves my problems. Appreciate the help!
when using the speakers of the TV as your audio output for the zoom meeting, how do you avoid the feedback/echo? as i understood it: presenter's voice is recorded with the sennheiser, the TV speakers are the audio output for the zoom call?
So I cannot explain it but zoom seems to have a mix minus in it and cancels out it’s own feedback
Sorry if I missed it, but how do you save a recoding of your presentation?

@@SuperCleary i was thinking of doing that as well! i am actually using the HDMI out of the ATEM to record into my ATOMOS and losing the awesome multicam view BUT using hdmi splitters on certain cams (that move alot)and extra monitors to preview. @@eduardomenz9135 Yea... theres so much upside to working with the Atem a few challenges are just it. I've had issues getting HDMI splitters to work so keep your reccipts.
@@SuperCleary Again thank you very much - sorry for disturbing your Sunday!
So do you have to set the cameras to stay on continuously or do they automatically do that when they have an HDMI cord hooked in?
Some do some don’t. You will for sure have to test your camera settings to see how they behave when they are left on for long periods. Some overheat too
I didn't understand why both USB-C and Network cable into the Mac. The USB-C I know and use but the network cable?
Better connectivity and once the atem is on the network you can use things like companion app
hello do you know why there is a delay between atem mini pro and zoom?
I’d you’re running your mics into mic 1 and mic 2 you need to update your firmware and adjust the audio delay. That will fix it.
SuperClearyPhoto yea, I thought of it too...what do you think about daisy chaining the iso pro to say a mini and working it that way?
Hi - use an Elgato Camlink or Elgato Game HD60 - these will take the HDMI out of the ATEM Mini and convert it to a normal usb input that you can feed into your iMac - your streaming software will then see that as a video source.
Thanks man, but im still not get the idea l, how to run ZOOM as conference monitor, and at the same time need to run ATEM software...😂😂😅😔
You’ll either need to use the second display as it’s own display or accept when you need to make changes in the atem software the zoom conference will be blocked for a moment. But remember, the attendees will not see what you’re doing on your computer screen. It’s just that you’re blocking your view on the attendees while you’re using the softeare
@@SuperCleary thanks again....it will try it.....i just found out from youtube, that we can assign our extended laptop monitor as second monitor to zoom conference monitor.
Just nice and it suite with your idea
Thanks for the nice video.
I have a question.
Probably I want to do the opposite of this.
I want to use 1 webcam and 1 audio input to 4 laptops and run concurrent meetings on Zoom.
So is it possible to send Video and audio from one source to many computers in the real time?
Thank you.
So you want to use the same audio and video but log into 4 different computers with it? Why?
@@SuperCleary Exactly. I want to use one webcam and audio input on my main computer.
All I need is to send this video and audio in 4 other computers at the same time.
Like I want to host 5 concurrent zoom meeting but on 5 different computers with different zoom account.
Or second solution can be
I give video and voice input in my main computer and somehow share that screen and audio in 4 other computers live.
Both solutions would work for me.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance
@@abhishekgupta7788 Well I can't imagine a situation where you would want to do that. Zoom may just be the wrong platform for you to be using. Why not a more traditional live stream through youtube or facebook?
@@SuperCleary Well, lemme explain the scenario and need here.
1 camera and audio to multi devices at the same time .
I am a trainer and provide online courses.
I conduct free webinars to sell the same.
So the scenario is like this.Suppose-
I host a webinar and I have 5 affiliates.
These affiliates have their own audience of 100 to 500 people.
So I dont want all the participants of all 5 affiliates on main attendees list.
I wish to join my 5 hosts.
These hosts have host their own separate webinar as per their licensed capacity but broadcast my webinar.
And whenever needed, they can share their own affiliate links to their own participants.
Because If I share one link it will go to all of them.
So I host one webinar, the 5 affiliates on a different computer, with a different zoom webinar license can handle their own participants. But everyone broadcasts my screen and my audio.
I hope I made myself clear.
In this way,I can catter to all the affiliates at the same time and every affiliate can share their own affiliate link at the end or in between.
Otherwise ,I have to conduct webinar separately for them.
Is there a solution.
So I can host one webinar
join all 5 affiliates as hosts of their own webinars?
Thank you.
How do I connect a multi channel digital mixer into this system? I have a X-Air18 mixer.
Is that an audio mixer? You would just plug it directly into one of the mic inputs
Does it really look any good with Zooms 360p restrictions for any meetings over 3 people..?
I’m at 640. You might need to pay for a higher teir
What's the ethernet hub you're using?
The cheaper version of this, not sure why I can't link the right model sorry!

Which GoPro are you using?
I believe it was just an old 5 I had lying around.
I guess it’s not called “pinning”, it’s “spotlight” to force people to watch the atem program.
Ha. Yes. It’s spotlight.
How are the hosts hearing the people on zoom?
Through the tv. In zoom in setting my speaker to the tv that is connected through airplay
@@SuperCleary do you have to mute the host?
@@louisverville nope
@@SuperCleary Does the TV move to each station? IE host 1 in station 1 sees TV and gallery, when you switch to host 2 a station 2, is someone moving the TV so he can see and interact with the audience? Thank you from the Emerald Isle!
Yup. I just got a basic roller stand kit for it and just move it around to the different scenes. Much easier than coordinating multiple TVs

It seems this video has a very interesting content. I just can't stand watching it. It's too long and too jerky. A short version with all info without the camera swings would be GREAT!
I’ll get a spoon to make it easier for you
@@SuperCleary Oh, great! I need that. :)
