Phillip Noyce is an Australian film director, producer, and screenwriter known for his work in both Hollywood and Australian cinema. He was born on April 29, 1950, in Griffith, New South Wales, Australia. Noyce has directed a wide range of films, from thrillers and action movies to dramas and historical films.
Some of his notable works include:
"Dead Calm" (1989) - A psychological thriller starring Nicole Kidman, Sam Neill, and Billy Zane, which brought Noyce international recognition.
"Patriot Games" (1992) - An action thriller based on Tom Clancy's novel, starring Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan.
"Clear and Present Danger" (1994) - Another Jack Ryan film starring Harrison Ford, also based on a Tom Clancy novel.
"The Bone Collector" (1999) - A crime thriller featuring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.
"Rabbit-Proof Fence" (2002) - A critically acclaimed Australian drama based on a true story about three Aboriginal girls' escape from a government settlement.
"The Quiet American" (2002) - A historical drama based on Graham Greene's novel, starring Michael Caine and Brendan Fraser.
"Salt" (2010) - An action thriller starring Angelina Jolie as a CIA officer accused of being a Russian spy.
Noyce is known for his versatility and ability to work across different genres, and he has garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success throughout his career.
