    I just bought one of these, still on the way so was looking at some tutorials and was really happy to land on SampleKings. I think it's been nearly 20 yrs. ago that I purchased the lessons for Akai MPC from SampleKings, now flash forward, baby grown, graduated college, outa LA, living in the desert and here I am again learning from the boss! Man, just your voice makes me happy, and the way you take your time, assuming nothing, explaining even what might be the obvious to some, is just so helpful and calming. Thank you SO much for being who you are and doing what you do!

    You got the Bose speaker too! I bought one off a street fella and the thing ended up so nice my gf ended up buying the next model up but for size and weight the little one we got is by far better. Man you might recall me crying about the MPC when I was learning it, I had a hell of a meltdown or two or three, but the 404 has been love from day one. I like how it can connect to the ipad and the cables all workout to not be a mess for once😱 and everything just works and it feels good, its everything I love about Korg Gadget, its highly evolved but not convoluted. That said I ran into a problem with the sample format I chose so I gotta go through and upsample if that is the word. Gotta move up from 16bit to 32bit cuz it says “unsupported” on most my custom samples 🤡 But I still love it.

    Can someone explain me what length in bars means?

    • @thegreatsiberianitch
      @thegreatsiberianitch ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In written music, a bar is a "measure". A measure is the space between the vertical lines where the notes are placed between on a sheet of music, these lines split up a piece of music into equal parts called measures... The notes in a measure.... In 4/4 timing, there are 4 "quarter notes" in a measure. That's a black dot with a single stick coming out the side, like a "d" with the "o" part filled in black. 4 quarters in 1 dollar, 4 quarter notes in 1 measure. To simplify this people just call it "bars". A bar is 1-2-3-4, 2 bars 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4... Not all measures in music are counted by the 4/4 "time signature" though... Check some videos on reading music to get more detail and for visuals, and you don't have to learn how to read music, just absorb enough to get the concept.

    • @SampleKingsVideos
      @SampleKingsVideos  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've never had that problem but try to reduce the number of patterns and see how that affects it, count how many samples you're using reduce and compare.

  • @GrootsieTheDog
    @GrootsieTheDog ปีที่แล้ว

    I would’ve liked if you would’ve spent 10 minutes instead of 10 seconds on the external input pad settings. It’s one of the most important things to get right - gain staging. There is the volume of the source, there’s the input levels, and there’s the main volume out of the SP. All have to be calculated to get the optimal performance and sampling levels right and to avoid clipping.

    Can’t really understand why would someone spend so much money on this when they can buy a mpc one for the same price. My opinion.

    • @d3signerdr3ams92
      @d3signerdr3ams92 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Firstly, an MPC one (cheapest modern standalone unit, new) is $900, while this is $500, so it's reasonably cheaper.
      Secondly, while it's not as robust / feature-packed as an MPC, this simply greatly improves on the limitations, quality and workflow of the preceding SPs: bridging the gap between it and an MPC, yet still remaining comfortably true to the SP vibe.
      This and the MPC are still, though similar at their roots, entirely different machines that cater to different goals and workflows, not really worthy of comparison. (Direct comparison, at least.)
      My opinion. (As someone who constantly sees this excellent unit considered inferior to the MPC one, etc. Hope this explains my context.)

      This is a very comprehensive guide…if someone is going to watch what is essentially an in-depth masterclass on a piece of hardware they own, the intro length probably won’t have an impact on whether they’ll commit to the hour and forty minute long lesson…
