Germany wrote the best marches, hands down. How glorious it must have looked watching the columns marching in exact step to these marches, a sea of flags waving in the sun. Germans had too, the best uniforms. What they do, they set a standard to envy. This music is soul stirring. Gives one a rush. :)
This is one of the few recordings that gets the tempo right for Alte Komaraden. Others are almost always too fast. Also, thos exemplifies the technique of playing the upbeats slightly behind the beat, which adds a distinctively Deutche swagger to piece. I LOVE it when they do that!! Bravi.

This led to the appointment in 1886 of Captain Emil Körner and 36 Prussian officers and NCOs to train officer cadets in the Chilean Military College.
