In this video, we showcase the Top 15 Largest Car Manufacturers in the World from 1999 to 2024, based on production and sales data. Using comprehensive sources like OICA, F&I Tools, and annual reports from manufacturers, we trace the growth and evolution of the world’s biggest automotive companies.
Note: Since OICA stopped publishing motor vehicle production statistics by manufacturer after 2017, the data from 2018 onwards only includes sales by manufacturer. The figures in this video represent passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, minibuses, trucks, buses, and coaches, giving a complete overview of the global automotive industry.
Definitions:
Passenger Cars: Motor vehicles with at least four wheels, designed to transport passengers, with no more than eight seats besides the driver.
Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV): Four-wheeled motor vehicles used to transport goods, with a mass between 3.5 and 7 tons, including minibuses with more than eight seats.
Heavy Trucks (HCV): Vehicles intended for transporting goods, with a mass over 3.5 to 7 tons, including tractor vehicles for towing semi-trailers.
Buses and Coaches: Passenger vehicles with more than eight seats, with a mass over 3.5 to 7 tons.
