Nice video, ur gma was right about the heat...it shouldn't take too long on the comal or else they will get hard. Once u learn how to amasar u will never forget, its just a few ingredients, but there is a way of doing it, and all it takes is practice, the same for rolling. Oh btw instead of smashing with a fork, use a hand towel to evenly smash and they will cook faster. They do look delicious. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more!

Awsome video... Now that's the way flour tortillas are made!! The great taste is the LARD!!! There is NO substitute!! Same with refried beans. If your going to use oil, might as well buy the beans in the can.
This is different in that the shortening is rubbed on the outside. Another vid I watched mixed the shortening into the flour. Still looks good. thank you for sharing;)

been making tortillas for years..do know this much really warm water is important..so is a knead ...now you taught this old dog a new trick never greased my hands while making the balls nor used a spoon for bubbles..resting your dough is important..I know just how she felt the dough bounces back like rubberband /hence frustration and more work plus we makers all like thin as we can/ I never use baking powder.
Just make sure the lard is non-hydrogenated. The best way to get it is to render your own lard. Very possible that that's what your grandma does :) Blessings to you and your beautiful family too! Viva la manteca! LOL
Your grandmother is very wise. You can learn a lot from her. It's good that you are learning her traditions and also that your kids are involved so that they can learn and pass her traditions on to their kids and grandkids. I so wish I would have asked more questions and learned more from my grandmother before she passed.
