After Apeis cancelled the project, at around 2022, Apeis decided to sell the rights to the game to me… I’m not joking, paperwork with signatures in transferral of rights were involved. However, there are some problems that I’ve faced since then: he deleted 99% of the assets, with the main character being the only remaining asset thanks to my own storage of the asset. Another problem is that my expertise is in 3D art and not programming, and since then, no programmers want to touch the project with a ten foot pole (understandably). Essentially, I have the project at hand, but I seriously don’t know what to do with it. I even made an announcement last year on the Love Letter Reddit forum that the game’s rights were transferred away from Apeis, but since then, there seems to be a curse of n the project practically.
Yandere dev taught me one thing about game development that I’m thankful for: work on the main game BEFORE adding side shit. He also taught me to NOT put all your code in one script.
It’s kinda like Hello Neighbor. Instead of improving the quality of what was already there, they instead kept adding more and more, which led to the game becoming increasingly more and more broken and glitchy.

And I think Markiplier best put it in a podcast of Distractible, where they tried leaning to the “OH, THERE’S A BIG MYSTERY!” When the mystery is that this dude has a weird basement. And his basement isn’t that special compared to the rest of his house. It’s just as weird as the rest of his house. Because Alpha 1, I think, is able to show what the game could’ve been if it was good. It had a clear beginning, with you seeing your neighbor walk into his basement, and hint at the possibility of his basement being a portal to another dimension, which gives you incentive to go there. The gameplay was less broken, aside from some iffy bugs and glitches, with the small, tight spaces that felt like the neighbor could easily catch you at any moment, and on top of that, the neighbor felt more like a scary threat, with the complex AI. So the gameplay legitimately felt like you were breaking into someone’s home. And the ending, although a bit of a letdown, is very creepy. The neighbor keeps you from going in and he buries you alive! It had a clear beginning, middle and end! If there’s one thing you could’ve done, maybe give it a second ending, where you walk through, see your on a street, and then you get run over (as a kinda darkly comedic moment), and have the ending proceed the same with the neighbor burying you. But when they kept making the house bigger and bigger and leaned more into it being a convoluted puzzle game with way more stuff in it, it made the house harder for not only YOU to traverse, but it became harder for the neighbor t get through it to, and he easily gets stuck. So the neighbor becomes less scary, and more annoying. It was all because they chased after the whole mystery trend and mascot horror shtick when they could’ve just taken the original Alpha 1 and just refined it, and maybe add just a little more to make the game longer. Discord has always been 13+ so if your 12 on an app made for older kids you shouldnt be on there in the first place. That being said when have any of us actually followed that rule (including me). Still should be followed better espcially if your a kid your young and stupid and (depending) havent seen or heard or been through those situations. The first time around you think nothing and sometimes youll continue it without realising and soon its normal which it shouldnt be. Point, being i recommend actually being above 13 when using social media dont add random people you dont know and even if you think you know them you dont. While not all creators are bad there is a good portion that are as weve seen. Be safe is my point. Take it from someone who learned the hard way.

I saw a few of Yanderedev’s videos, back when I thought the game had a chance. He’d talk about the ideas he had for the game and to his credit, actually did a good job explaining the challenges they brought and what he needed to think about. However, he was coming up with so many ideas, that he just kept adding more and more to his workload. For example, he had the idea of an 80s mode. Which would tell a prequel story involving the main characters mother and her quest to win over her senpai. He talked about how he’d have to do things like replace the phone with the need to manually write notes. Now you may have already seen the problem here. A game mode like this would need a lot of new assets. New characters, changes to the environment, and entirely new items and mechanics to program. Heck, look how long this comment got just from explaining it. In fact, this shouldn’t even be a game mode. The smart thing to do would be to put that idea aside and then make it into an entirely separate game once the initial game is completed. I’d say Yanderedev needs someone to tell him, “Stop! Let’s just work with what we’ve got, and we can utilise these other ideas later.” But with his ego, I doubt he’ll listen to anyone.
And ironically he actually finished that prequel story and most reasonable people just decided to call it quits there and take that as the game because dude will never stop taking the p*ss with the main content.

Yandere Simulator has a cool premise. Problem is that it needs a different developer. All Alex is doing is holding the game back. FNAF became a whole damn franchise while this game is still in development hell. I call that incompetence.

I recently quit The Isle and I can say that yeah, the way the developers have acted and continue to act was a big reason as to why I'm confident in the decision. Separating the art from the artist becomes very difficult when the art itself isn't very good and you spend more time watching them yap on their community discord than actually playing their game. And yeah, the toxic behaviour mentioned does continue. To name a thing or two off the top of my head, there have been many cases of Dondi (who did return to the community) personally coming forward to remove players from community spaces for taking jabs at him after he himself starts an argument, or even removing them from higher ranking positions like the role of stress tester due to criticism of the things they were quite literally invited to criticise.

I remember following YanDev back in 2015 when I still believe that the game would come in the near future and that the dev was semi-competent if not overly ambitious and finding the whole email thing very weird, I thought to myself: "What is stopping this guy from just not reading emails or dedicate an hour at most of his day to reading them?"
The whole Yandere simulator thing makes me want a Tsundere simulator. You play a highschool anime girl who is trying to win the heart of her classmate who did something nice for her years ago. You do stuff to push girls away from him and try to impress him without giving away your feelings. The main goal will be to pique his interest enough to confess to you despite your hostile behavior. Instead of minecrafting people you have to keep an irritation bar in check by doing activities or by getting praise from others. The irritation bar goes up if you do nothing for too long or if you mess up a plan you set up representing the girl's stress and anxiety from overthinking things. If you interact with your crush while the bar is too high you will say mean things you dont actually mean to save face. I think it would be pretty fun to play if made correctly. I much like Yandere dev have zero skill in coding so it will only be a dream because I know my limitations and also have no real drive to create something like this.

It is true from my understanding that a lot of people who groom had it normalized to them as a kid, yeah. Not always the case but it does unfortunately happen a lot where the person continues the cycle of abuse they were subjected to. Yeah when I watched this I regretted giving them my money. I've had the Isle since like 2018 and I was really hype for Evrima. In the beginning of Evrima release there were only two playable new dinosaurs, one herbivore and one carnivore. All the old dinos were gone. There were many exciting new dinosaurs advertised, but they took AGES to put them all in the update. There was also no sandbox and I couldnt host my own private servers anymore. Had to switch back to the old version just to play more than three dinosaurs. Evrima was a disappointment imo, the miniscule amount of diversity over like years time just got repetitive and killed my hype. Felt like they just took away from the game.
being an indie dev is very hard. being commercially successful is multitudes harder. to think these guys had achieved massive followings or even commercial success and threw it all away for... what exactly? honestly its mind boggling. luckily most indie devs are not like this. but these stories sure are horrifying.

Reminds me of a brazilian game called 171, pretty much a GTA clone taking place in Brazil. To sum it up, they kept begging for cash to fund the project and the game is pure shit with very little effort put into it, basically a gta 5 map with a few new guns and a relatively small map.

As someone who has long since heeded the omen to no longer engage in indie content following the cancellation of the original Super Mario Brothers Z (and what will almost certainly be the reboot given there hasn't been an episode for a few years now) - although no disrespect to the devs in the video obviously, watching content much like this is cathartic, and that's putting it very mildly. You rarely, if ever, hear such tragic and heartbreaking stories like these in the AAA sector of videogaming, and the people playing videogames in general amongst those in the content just want to have a jolly good time, not get bogged down in all the details and controversies of the (otherwise) wonderful world of gaming. This is why videogames should have never been divided into AAA and indie; life really was better before.

Yandere Simulator has a cool premise. Problem is that it needs a different developer. All Alex is doing is holding the game back. FNAF became a whole damn franchise while this game is still in development hell.

Yeah I hate that. It's like they try to put up a comedy skit that falls flat.
I recently quit The Isle and I can say that yeah, the way the developers have acted and continue to act was a big reason as to why I'm confident in the decision. Separating the art from the artist becomes very difficult when the art itself isn't very good and you spend more time watching them yap on their community discord than actually playing their game. And yeah, the toxic behaviour mentioned does continue. To name a thing or two off the top of my head, there have been many cases of Dondi (who did return to the community) personally coming forward to remove players from community spaces for taking jabs at him after he himself starts an argument, or even removing them from higher ranking positions like the role of stress tester due to criticism of the things they were quite literally invited to criticise.

Yandev says that Lovesick and Yansim can't coexist due to their similarities, forgetting that Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, Battlefield and C.o.D, and countless others have disproved that claim before it was even made.

I remember following YanDev back in 2015 when I still believe that the game would come in the near future and that the dev was semi-competent if not overly ambitious and finding the whole email thing very weird, I thought to myself: "What is stopping this guy from just not reading emails or dedicate an hour at most of his day to reading them?"

The whole Yandere simulator thing makes me want a Tsundere simulator. You play a highschool anime girl who is trying to win the heart of her classmate who did something nice for her years ago. You do stuff to push girls away from him and try to impress him without giving away your feelings. The main goal will be to pique his interest enough to confess to you despite your hostile behavior. Instead of minecrafting people you have to keep an irritation bar in check by doing activities or by getting praise from others. The irritation bar goes up if you do nothing for too long or if you mess up a plan you set up representing the girl's stress and anxiety from overthinking things. If you interact with your crush while the bar is too high you will say mean things you dont actually mean to save face. I think it would be pretty fun to play if made correctly.
I much like Yandere dev have zero skill in coding so it will only be a dream because I know my limitations and also have no real drive to create something like this.

It is true from my understanding that a lot of people who groom had it normalized to them as a kid, yeah. I guess it was pure luck for me to stumble across this; I've wanted to play The Isle for a bit now because the concept is right up my alley, but since the developers suck I'm glad I found this out before spending money or time on them. Hopefully there are other dinosaur or animal games similar to it made by decent people

Yeah when I watched this I regretted giving them my money. I've had the Isle since like 2018 and I was really hype for Evrima.
In the beginning of Evrima release there were only two playable new dinosaurs, one herbivore and one carnivore. All the old dinos were gone. There were many exciting new dinosaurs advertised, but they took AGES to put them all in the update. There was also no sandbox and I couldnt host my own private servers anymore. Had to switch back to the old version just to play more than three dinosaurs. Evrima was a disappointment imo, the miniscule amount of diversity over like years time just got repetitive and killed my hype. Felt like they just took away from the game.
being an indie dev is very hard. being commercially successful is multitudes harder.
to think these guys had achieved massive followings or even commercial success and threw it all away for... what exactly? honestly its mind boggling.
luckily most indie devs are not like this. but these stories sure are horrifying.
I always loved The Isle. I have so many good and enjoyable memories from playing it. It's so sad that the creator of this game is a toxic person, but at least the game is still enjoyable.
Honestly I genuinely do hope someone takes the concept and actually executes it in a smart and competent way. It's a genuinely interesting concept and there's a reason why highschool anime and the archetype of a yandere is so interesting in the anime community. If it just had a smart and competent person behind it and it just stuck to the bare bones concept of a girl that murders, manipulates, or befriends the people who love her senpai, it would thrive for sure. When he started adding that 1980's mode, all those easter eggs and all those other random modes, I knew he was just milking it for everything it was worth. You don't start painting a house when the walls aren't even built

Reminds me of a brazilian game called 171, pretty much a GTA clone taking place in Brazil.
To sum it up, they kept begging for cash to fund the project and the game is pure shit with very little effort put into it, basically a gta 5 map with a few new guns and a relatively small map.

As someone who has long since heeded the omen to no longer engage in indie content following the cancellation of the original Super Mario Brothers Z (and what will almost certainly be the reboot given there hasn't been an episode for a few years now) - although no disrespect to the devs in the video obviously, watching content much like this is cathartic, and that's putting it very mildly. You rarely, if ever, hear such tragic and heartbreaking stories like these in the AAA sector of videogaming, and the people playing videogames in general amongst those in the content just want to have a jolly good time, not get bogged down in all the details and controversies of the (otherwise) wonderful world of gaming. This is why videogames should have never been divided into AAA and indie; life really was better before.
