Capcom decided to make some easy money, so they recycled parts of Mega Man X5, threw in overly difficult trial-and-error gameplay, made almost everything an obstacle course, and called it Mega Man X6.
Rescuing all Reploids on Xtreme mode is inadvisable for all but the most hardcore, yet this TAS makes it look easy. Not only that, it collects everything that can be collected before beating the game.
In this run, Rolanmen1 uses additional items and tricks that are not present in the any% or all stages runs, such as X's Blade Armor. Though X still has less screentime than Zero, he is used to his fullest potential in the Gate stages.

I will never get tired of watching Ground Scaravichs stage. Zero goes full anime protagonist mode, it's awesome.

I have to say, seeing bosses E V A P O R A T E against apparently nothing in the TAS is strangely satisfying. Especially Sigma 2, must've spent an hour on him alone as an 8 yr old.

Beautiful quality, I don't think the game is as bad as other people think because I actually enjoyed playing (until I get Shock Buffer lol)
kinda late but i think the issues is the level desing for this game, full of spikes, random enemies at their position, stuff like that

I don't see how X6 recycles anymore concepts than X5 did to warrant special attention. Still, "recycling" is not a bad thing if done right. Most of the concepts previously seen in X5 are made better in X6. But then, there's the games' own problems. It's still a fun ride if you know your way around the bullshit.
I would have actually seen X6 as a better game than X5(to a degree)...if it wasn't for the bad translation, typos and a few sfxs (which i believe it's better to use their X4-5 variants)

Tweekitus its the ensuizan glitch where you cancel the spin's animation as you get off a platform (very easy to do on ice platforms). It makes you invincible but you still die from pits, crushes and if you do the move again it will cancel the invincibility.

I rescued most of the reploids on xtreme as zero (some as X but only the ones that didnt give lifeup or weaponup powerups).. so yeah.
I consider myself hardcore.
I got them all, but it was EXTREMELY frustrating and required multiple resets. In my opinion, this is one aspect they should have done away with, given (iirc) once one dies, you can't just replay the stage and try again.

This is somehow similar to how X evolves in skill and technique lorewise, the ultimate and perfect AI. With combat experience, he will be able to beat Zero even with his eyes closed.
As a kid i distinctly remember fighting high max instead of dynamo, i cant for the life of me figure out why
Because you encounter high max instead if you haven't unlocked gate's lab
If you manage to kill high max then you unlock gate's lab early
With Z, X6 is just one big "You are already dead!"
So that conveyor belt that starts at 31:55... Why did zero need to take all that damage and use the e-tank?

How fast would it take to beat the game?
It is pretty boring IMO. Pretty straightforward, but you would need Zero anyways since X with Ultimate Armor won't pass though Gate 1. X would need either Blade Armor or Jumper. I would rather an X only TAS.

Slash dash cancelling is what it's called. After you perform first slash, dash immediately to cancel it, then slash again etc. You have to face the opposite direction in this game most of the time due to how zero swings in this game.

Since this TAS was made in PCSX, I had to use kkapture and encoded it using x264 with a filter called nnedi3. It is a bit complicated and very heavy on CPU but the quality as you can see is impressive.
How long that even take to create a TAS?
That is very hard to estimate since it depends on game, what are you trying to achieve in that game and the free time you have to TAS.

41:29 can you pls upload a tutorial on how the slide boosting works? I can't find any videos explaining how to do this properly. I'm having difficulty pulling this off... from what I've heard, your supposed to jump dash while holding the desired direction then letting go of the direction just before landing, but I don't think I'm doing it right. 😭
That is actually how you do it, the issue is that it is super hard to do consistently, for context this is a one frame trick.
The game is so broken id prefer to watch a TAS over anything else so I can actually pretend the game is good.

48:35 god I freaking hate this boss fight. The reason why is because you can’t damage him with any of your weapons. Not even nova strike can actually damage him. The only way to damage him is by destroying a sphere and hoping that the splits of the sphere hits him. Once he’s halfway to dying he has a chance to do a purple attack thingy that destroys the platform. And as if THAT. WERN’T BAD. ENOUGH, not only can it can also damage you, but also gate himself, the spheres he throws at you, and the attacks that comes from the spheres can also damage you.

How Zero returned from the dead was so anticlimactic, considering how dramatic the sacrifice was in previous episode.
Well, X5 was meant to be the last game of the series, leading to Zero series afterwards... But... here we are.
I wish they make a compendium and announce X6 as non-canon (though I really like it due to Shadow Armor X). This is a continuation if X5's bad ending. Or they can make another X6 continuing from X5's good ending and where Zero transferred a portion of his mind to a weaker state Zero (Megaman Zero armor) as a playable character and also sealed at the end. Hence we get 2 Zeroes like in Megaman Zero. Hopefully. It's the only fix for X6 to be canon.
