    I got one of these myself but it just errors out when I try to click the buy button to upgrade it from Home to Pro, tried in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. It also apparently doesn't have hardware virtualization support, meaning that developers can't test ARM virtual machine software on it. This also means you can only run WSL1 and not WSL2. Seems like a pretty glaring omission given the price point...

    • @graealex
      @graealex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @nevzataydin1
      @nevzataydin1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @graealex
      @graealex 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nevzataydin1 Well, RISC code is less dense than CISC, although there are ways like compressed instructions to reduce that, but from my experience, that is not the majority of RAM usage anyway, so I don't see how the instruction set is going to be something that either significantly increases or decreases the memory usage of a modern (desktop) OS.

    Qualcomm should release another version of this Development Kit that includes the newest generation of 8Cx Gen 3 processor and a minimum of 8GB RAM. The newer processor handles Windows 11 on ARM and improved emulation of x86 applications. There should be two options offered, a premium option for Developers that require faster performance and local Development on the Mini PC with Visual Studio 2022 for ARM. The cheaper version could be offered for Developers that only need it for Remote Debugging.

    Garry I'm not happy with today review on time line 1:12, u said window is compiled for arm 64. With out showing the download site for that. I am interested in downloading win 10 arm for my Android phone natively. I don't have the resources for this kit.

      You can't download Windows 10 for your smartphone. A smartphone and a PC/laptop are very different things.

    And it will be a new Era
    this Era already started.
    Which less cost as a mini pc .

    Looks interesting for "development", but for the price you can get a decent tablet or laptop that is arm based, ha the same power and a screen, touch pad, keyboard and battery. I love arm but this isn't that much more powerful then other stuff out there.

    I know nothing about ARM but 4GB if memory seems pretty tight for serious development. There are ways to squeeze down the size and ARM is different in terms of memory utilization but who wants to play stupid games like that in 2021? Is the memory expandable? At that price why not get an 8GB Raspberry Pi, which is also ARM, also runs Windows and save yourself $50-$100? Am I missing something?

    “Other brands are known to do!”
    Other brands don’t sell an under-powered non-useful kit for 219!
    Other brands lend a highly specced fully working computer before anybody else lays hand on, with the condition to return it back when mainstream computers are available to the public.
    Other brands = 1 main very well-known pioneer brand who started and is leading this transition to the ARM architecture.
    But the name is difficult to pronounce, because it brings sourness to everybody else and to all other brands, lol 😂

    Hey, we understand Qualcomm sponsored the video. But you don't need to make that obvious by calling it Windows on Qualcomm over and over. It's Windows on ARM (WoA). Keep it that way.

      Name me one other SoC that officially supports Windows? What about things like the GPU or 4G modem that are part of the processor. Are they Arm or Snapdragon?

    Give shade on apple for having to return the developer kit and get a refund. And at least the apple developer kit was bound to give real world feedback since its all moving... lets see how many apps are native in 6 months on winblows for arm ;)
