- 1. Plug in your USB flash drive to your computer.
2. Go to the start menu, type in "cmd" in a search bar, hit enter and then you can see something named "cmd. exe" under a list of programs.
3. Right click "cmd. exe" and type in "chkdsk /X /f USB drive letter:" or "chkdsk USB drive letter: /f ", for example, "chkdsk /X /f G:" or "chkdsk h: /h" in the following command windows to start to repair damaged USB flash drive without formatting.

the only real problem i see is that you just forgot the colin at the end

At first when I did it using the chkdsk f:/f it didnt work. but then i used chkdsk h:/h it did. have to clicked enter twice.
I thought i need to "safely eject" it but turned out, I just need to plug it out and put it back in. dont need to eject whatsoever. It worked for me! Thanks

This did not help for me to fix it recover lost files from music projects that I had on the scan disk thumb drive - the projects are saved and won't load.
do the chkdsk (drive name, e.g. C:, D: / F: ) /f /r
and always run your cmd in admin or it won't work
