Viking Star Cabin 4061 Tour - Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

- A tour of cabin 4061 on the Viking Star cruise ship. This is a category DV4 Deluxe Verandah stateroom, which is the smallest type of cabin on Viking Ocean cruises.
In the video, I give you an overall look at the cabin, the bathroom, and the balcony... as well as going in to some very specific details that you might not pick up on at first. We take a look at the number of electrical outlets, the unfortunate lack of storage, and the shower that's roomy enough for a romantic couple to enjoy together.
I made a very poor choice of words in the video when I described the bed as a "double bed". It's actually a lot bigger than a double bed. It's two twins pushed together to create a King-sized bed. It was VERY comfortable.
I also forgot to mention that the location of the cabin is excellent: mid-ship, between the forward and mid-ship elevators. The cabin was quiet, except for a slightly noisy air conditioning system. Other than that, this was a very quiet cabin with an excellent location.
I do think that if/when I cruise with Viking Ocean cruises again, I will book a Penthouse Veranda cabin rather than a Deluxe Veranda cabin. The Penthouse Veranda cabins are slightly larger, and I bet they have more storage. With a Penthouse Veranda, there are also free alcoholic beverages in the refrigerator, and they are replenished daily.
I do truly appreciate that Viking Ocean cruises allows you to carry your own alcohol onboard. It was fantastic to not have to smuggle rum onboard. It was much more convenient to just openly pack a bottle of rum in my suitcase without having to try to disguise it.

can't wait to read your reviews on food, entertainment, restaurants, etc. Not that many people I talk to go on both the mass market lines and also the fancier lines (Viking, Oceania, Crystal, etc.). Usually it's one or the other.

Thank you for going into such depth in your report, it's helped us decide to take the leap to Viking next year. Just one small thing, while I tend to agree with you about the mass market lines and the 3600 passengers, having cruised on the Regal and Royal Princess a few times, you picked the wrong ship to make that point, the first time we went on the Regal I thought the ship was only half full, Princess has done an amazing job with those ships...
Surprised to hear you say the shower was roomy. Our cabin was 4062 Viking Sky. I’m 6’0 and 200 lbs.My wife is 5’4 and 118 lbs and we both thought it was too small. Pretty much agree with everything else. The crew was outstanding. Really made us feel special. Food was exceptional as well.
It's all about perspective. It's huge for a cruise ship

Does Viking still allow customers to bring on their own alcohol? I understand that many cruise lines prohibit personal alcohol.

@@JimZim RCI allow you to bring one bottle of wine each...Princess allow unlimited wine. You can take these to the restaurant and pay $15.00 cork age per bottle. ( Still worked out cheaper to bring your own and pay cork age than buy from the wine list)
As at 11/2021, Viking are advertising that you can bring your own alcohol also. Including spirits, wines, beer etc.
Those cupboard doors next to the bed ARE a pest in my opinion...but alot of river cruises have them situated there too. 🤷♀️

I like the way you moved the chairs. We've done that before on different cruises too ( or even had chairs removed on longer trips). I have enough trouble tripping over hubby's shoes that he leaves in the middle of EVERY cabin. I actually took photos to prove it to him once 😏
How much did that room set you back on your cruise
$417 per person per night... and remember that it included roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles to Puerto Rico, and just about the only things I paid extra for during the cruise were a couple of shore excursions. Pretty much everything else I wanted was included. Also, do keep in mind that this cruise was three years ago, so prices may have changed.
When I go on another Viking Ocean Cruise... I will book one cabin category higher than what I did on this cruise. For me, needing some extra storage space in the cabin, I'll choose a Penthouse Veranda cabin next time.
Can you adjust air conditioning?

I was talking about the Fox television network... not the Fox news channel. You can't get the Fox television network on the TV, so you can't watch shows such as New Girl, Brooklyn Nine Nine, The X-Files, Family Guy, etc.
You can get the Fox News Channel, but of course, you'd have to be really gullible to want to watch that! :-)
