Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a 2020 racing mixed reality game. It is the fifteenth installment in the Mario Kart series, announced in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario franchise. It was developed by Velan Studios and published by Nintendo released on October 16, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch. Its toy radio-controlled cars race around the player's house, streaming video from their onboard cameras into the video game. It received favorable reviews with 1.27 million copies sold worldwide. - เกม

Shocked by the difference
Not really surprising once you consider the price. Home Circuit was $100 at launch while 8D was only $60. Home Circuit is currently in the $80-$90 range while 8D is currently in the $40-$50 range. 8D also has more characters and courses than Home Circuit.
Lastly, you have to factor in the fact that multi-player is WAY more expensive in HC than in 8D. 8D requires 1 Switch to play the game, one copy of the game to run and a controller for each player. As such, the price would be one of the following:
$440 (Base Switch + Game + 2 Free Joy Cons + 2 Joy Cons bought as a single pair for the last two people [if everyone has tiny hands and can play sideways]),
$500 (Base Switch + Game + 2 Free Joy Cons for 2 Players + 2 Pro Controllers for the last two),
$570 (Base Switch + Game + 2 Free Joy Cons for 1 Player + 3 Pro Controllers for the last two),
$600 (Base Switch + Game + 2 Free Joy Cons for 1 Player + 3 Purchased Joy Con Pairs for the last three), or
$640 (Base Switch + Game + 4 Pro Controllers [if everyone has big hands]).
As for HC, the game is free to download. However, you would need to grab a Nintendo Switch ($300-$350) AND a Kart ($100) for each person as multi-player for this game only works across multiple systems. As such, the price would be one of the following:
$1,600 (4 Switches + 4 Karts + 8 Free Joy Cons [if everyone has tiny hands]), or
$1,880 (4 Switches + 4 Karts + 4 Pro Controllers [if everyone has big hands])
HC did get a 2.0 update that allows for Two Player Split-Screen, so you can reduce the prices to the following in a Two Player comparison.
8D: $360 (1 Switch + 1 Game + Free Included Joy Cons)
HC: $500 (1 Switch + 2 Karts + Free Included Joy Cons)
To get 4 players, you need two systems still.
8D: $440-$640 (see the above list for the breakdowns)
HC: $1000-$1,280 (2 Switches + 4 Karts + 4 optional Pro Controllers [depends on hand sizes])
MK8D also has the luxury of being able to be played on the go. As such, this makes the game more ideal for those long car trips for families that travel a bunch. HC lacks that luxury.
HC is a neat novelty though. The economics of this game really illustrate why 8D ran race tracks around HC in total sales.

Nice. I never got this game, and I probably never will, as while the idea of a video game played with remote-controlled cars is revolutionary, it probably needs a lot of room to do properly (as well as flooring needed for the cars to move properly).

Theoretically, you _can_ build ramps with overlapping lanes, in fact, lanes can overlap in general.
