My grandfather was a national award medalist in competition shooting for many years and also a gun enthusiastic. He made me to go to 4,5mm airgun and 22lr competitions when I was young and didn't want to go because I found it boring.
Now that he is gone and I am a member of a shooting range (strict gun laws, I can only rent weapons, luckily my grandfather left 38 collectives and hunting guns for licenced members of the family) I can only wish I took those classes seriously and got to spend time with my grandfather.

Being a 74 year old male I watched my Dad, after he got back from WW 2 were he was sent to the Philippines and then to Nagasaki after the bomb was dropped, pick up the Springfield 03 and make it into a deer rifle in the 30-06 caliber. At 14 years old I took my first Mule deer with that gun. I still have it. I had a model 70pre 64 in 270 Winchester only problem with it which isn't really a problem is it said Ted Williams on the barrel so everybody knows that that was a model 70 made for Sears Roebuck Company. When I got it it was in very rough condition do I cold blooded the metal and refinish the stock came out beautiful I'm an old fart and don't shoot anymore but my son loves it I put a very nice BSA 4 to 12 scope on it what a wonderful gun
