Commercials these days lack of innocence, creativity and most fail of sending a meaningful message. When this commercial came out, I cried of happiness, took me back to my beloved childhood for a brief period of time, like a reminder of how E.T. haven't forgotten Eliot the same way we haven't forgotten him, it felt so good to watch it to a point I wish Steven Spielberg would make E.T. 2 movie. Amazing Job guys!!! you knew how to touch your audience hearts and place the brightness RIGHT HERE ❤

I love that this advert sparked a whole new generation of fans of the movie. I'm currently sat watching E. T with my 4 year old daughter for the first time. She fell in love with the character from watching the advert and now I get to share this with her.

Same, happy tears are what it's all about though. Happy tears are the best. I love that this ride is still at Universal Studios Orlando, and that Spielberg threatened to never work with Universal again if they pulled it out of the park.
Same. E.T. was the first movie I saw in the theater back in 1982. 40 years later it remains my favorite movie and the ending still makes me tear up. This commerical was so unexpected and when I first saw it I was hit with many emotions. The hug between E.T. and Elliot all these years later took me back to being a kid in 1982. i only wish they could've had the other cast be part of this in someway because we will never get a proper sequel and shouldn't because it's impossible to live up to the expectations it would carry.

Honestly I'm not a big science fiction fan. However E.T. is a different story and I think resonates with me because it's told in a much more realistic way in a familiar human environment. I rode the E.T. ride at Universal Orlando and E.T. said goodbye to me at the end which was awesome and unexpected. After watching this I was in tears honestly, was like seeing an old friend. I don't care if E.T. is a puppet, he will ALWAYS be near and dear to my heart. Thank you for making such an amazing commercial and doing it the right way. You guys ROCK!!!
I loved this advert. And yep, seeying it again it again gives me tears. E.T. wanted to visit his old earthfriend. It's soooo adorable. Om september 1st they will re-release E.T. in the cinemas in the Netherlands. Hopefully I can get a ticket and go. I was 10 when I saw it for the first time, I will be 50 next week, what a lovely 50th birthday gift. Thank you to Steven Spielberg for making that happen😊❤️

I hope it will never come. Let it be the way it is.. I was already super angry for the "new" version wityh so many changes. I am a little afraid the sequel wouldnt have the magic of the fistt one. Different times, different technology. Usually all the sequels are worse than the first part.
Absolutely not. ET is perfect. Look at the disaster sequels for Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones released in 2008. Let classics stay classics!

I can't believe this commercial made me tear up. One of my favorite childhood memories was going to the theater to see this with my parents and my sister. And this brought back some beautiful memories for me.....thank you.
Fun fact: Steven Spielberg wanted to not make a sequel so much, that when the studio told him to make a sequel, he purposely made the treatment sound terrible to scare the studio off from making a sequel
It was cool seeing Drew in it, even if just a Easter egg. But it’s have been cool to see Michael too. Or his mother as a grandmother. That being said, I’m beyond thankful and grateful we got this!

This bring me so many memories! I watched the original movie in 1982, i was 10 years old, and today the movie still one of my favorites. This remake almost make me cry!

Would have been fun to see the Atari 2600 boxed up somewhere. I know seeing the E.T. game cartridge wouldn't fit exactly, but maybe a copy of Space Invaders (since that's the game on Michael's shirt in the movie.)

OMG, this was my childhood, 1980's. Since its Christmas, it should have been more amazing if Michael, Gertie, and their Mom's visit to see ET...

If they took out the ending where it shows its a commercial it would have made a great short before a movie during the holiday season of 2019.

The filmmakers said that they hope that this will spark some reminiscing. Well, for me, it did more. I want a legit sequel now. A full-feature film, with Spielberg overlooking (but not necessarily directing) the project. They captured so much magic with this short film/commercial. More than almost all modern movies. We miss you, E.T.

best director steve spielberg i think if you was to do a sequel it would be for our kids grandkids but keep it original the old way like the add. i think it would be one of your biggest blockbusters ever and at the age of 56 i would take my grandkids to watch it.not just for them but for me...... ;-] just send me a message ...a beam of lite or something

A good sequel should definitely be something like this !
And it makes sense too that ET can only return back after so many years due to the great distances between stars.
And who wouldn't want to return back to his dearest friend too ! Who has helped him so much and even sheltered him when he was all alone and lost in another strange new world.
Even better is that after ET has left Elliott while he was a kid, Elliott's mind actually developed some sort of telepathic power too ( but just a minor one ) due to the healing that ET gave him when his hand got injured.
And of course there will be many other villains too, who will want to get this telepathic power and their technology, by any means necessary !
So once again ET and Elliott and co. will have to work together to keep staying together.
Maybe they will get help from Nasa too, and then ET decides to help only the good ones about his technology.
And then, after being invited again and again by ET and his people to visit their planet one day, only possible by using the technology and telepathic power that ET has given Elliott,
NASA was indeed able to built a spaceship to go to their planet. And Elliott will of course be one of the main astronauts too ! Finally it was Elliott's turn to see ET's beautiful planet !

What's truly heart-breaking is that most of this cast are still alive. Are there not any talented writers out there at film school who are sending Spielberg scripts for a follow-up? 'E.T. Comes Home' would be a phenomenal success and put Spielberg back on top if it were directed well. God knows, none of his recent efforts really stand out. If he got the right team together and started work now the follow-up would be in time for a Christmas 2022 release. - in time for the 40th anniversary. If he's concerned it would taint the original, it's unfounded. If it were done well enough or not, enough time has lapsed between the two films to not associate one completely with the other. The awful Halloween follow-ups do not ruin the credibility of the original. Money talks, and I doubt most if not all of the original cast would come back for this, just for the nostalgia if nothing else. Dark Skies (in my opinion) was a really great film though not a big box office hit, but was shot in a non-sensational manner, and perhaps if the follow-up was dealt with in a similar way it would really impress real fans of the original. The jump scares, idiotic humour, hypersexuality and profanity forced into films today wouldn't suit it. Come on Spielberg! #etcomeshome2022
