OMG! Woman! OMG!! I'm just in a fury rage with how you were treated! Report, report, report all people who were involved. And if Chris is your landlord, report him to the Better Business Bureau and to your State's Landlord/Tennant housing agency. Mm, mm, mm! Shame on all of them! Now let me calm down... ~ Kelly your Card is absolutely a work of art! I love it. Of course, I like the detailed one the best, but, as you stated the first one did do the trick as far as keeping the focus on the tree, you didn't notice the lack of detail on the rest. Both are Beautiful! Well done. Big Hugs. xo

Seriously girl, I don't know how you haven't gone completely mental on these idiots! As the Minions would say - they don't just have a screw loose - they've lost the whole toolbox! Literally! Need you even ask? It's the details that make your cards so gorgeous! BTW we will all bail you out if you flip out, and NO ONE would blame you!! Big hug!!

OMG. How you didn't go mental on all of those people is a true testament to your patience. You're right, I want to hunt them down! But I will admit, I laughed my butt off during the story! And of course I like the one with all the shading!

Love the second card best! Sounds to me like your landlord was trying to spend as little as possible but now it will cost more than if he had just had the job done correctly to begin with.

I thought the first photo was just fine...until I saw the second photo. Wow! The final card is amazing! One thing, no perfect pearls? I think this is a first! Regarding your maintenance debacle: I had a washing machine disaster that soaked the carpet in my first house. I called someone to clean up the water and they cut out the pad and carpet because it was totally soaked. After running a fan on the area to dry it, they came back to reinstall the pad/carpet and left the ugliest seam right in front of my kitchen. Being a young, naive person I didn’t insist they fix it so as the years went buy the seam continued to fray. Good for you for standing up and insisting they do it right!

“The guy who from now on will be known as ‘Liar Liar Pants On Fire’ 👖 🔥 “
I laughed so hard at that.
(And also sighed afterwards, because this whole story makes me so mad. I’ve been through a saga like that before, where it stretches out for months and months, and you’re constantly having to chase stuff up, and random fix-it men keep turning up, and doing dodgy jobs and then lying about it, and then saying I don’t understand because I’m female...)

Those construction people are a joke. Let the rental co> know you will hold your rent till it is fixed properly and give them a deadline. You poor thing. Your card here is a work of art. The 2nd one is much more "Kelly" and details make the card. The first one was cute, but not "Kelly" cute.

Kelly, You are amazing for 2 reasons. Reason 1: Yes your shading, details & snow make all the difference in the world! Reason 2: Your patience is saint-like! I think I may be in jail now if I had to deal with those problems. Thanks for the inspiration & your tale from THE HOT PLACE!

Kelly, you are so patient to be dealing with all of that garbage and not come unglued. That's just CRAZY! You are also correct in
the detail work on your cards. It may take a little longer but without a doubt it looks so much better. I believe it looks like a card anyone can make, then it comes to life!!!! Way to go. Love your work and stories. You always make me smile and for a 60 year old grandma, I welcome you into my home every time I see a Kelly Latevola video. Thank you!!!!

OMG Kelly, I just love your storytelling. I had similar experience from an apartment that I used to live in. Me and my 2 kids came home from a long weekend to find about a 4x4 section of my ceiling on my floor. And they blamed the air conditioner in the apartment upstairs. Even with that, my manager of the complex told me that HUD would stop my subsidy because of fingerprints on my refrigerator door. I told her to bring them on in! I did get her back during one of the inspections my son had a “room defender” toy. And I set that thing up so when she went into his room it began screaming “Intruder Alert, Intruder Alert!!!!”
Your card making is also fabulous. I love watching you work.one day, I’ll get there. With coloring..

The maintenance people leave a lot to be desired for sure. Your card, the detailed one is definiately the one that stands out and is super cute. The one that is not detailed is also super cute but your special touches of detailing makes all the difference in the world.

1st the card. Definitely the second one. It wouldn't be a Kelly card without all the shading and sparkle!! 2) Sounds like you've got a cheap landlord and was trying to get away with as little as possible. Hats off to you! For standing your ground. I'm a renter too. Mine does try to be frugal with some things, but at the same time, he does make sure he does things right. And there's been a time or 2 he's had to "go" get something, but he's never took that long. Bless your heart, I'm surprised that you still have a sane mind after all that. 💜💜

I like the Kelly version of the card better. Your shading and assorted details are what make your cards extra special. I feel for you on the maintenance men and their lack of supplies, effort and knowledge. I’ve been through several remodels of my home, so I unfortunately know exactly what you are dealing with. My kitchen and others areas were a constant fight to get the contractor to do what was in the contract! My master bathroom was supposed to take 6 to 8 weeks.... 10 1/2 months later we finally had our bathroom back! Now we need to replace my wood floors throughout my entire home, the refrigerator leaked and ruined them. We are so gun shy to trust anyone to come in and do it. I can’t imagine you having to deal with all of that while you are as busy as you are.

  • @Angelchakra
    @Angelchakra 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Love the details in the second card 😊 you have the patience of a saint! I'd have gone ape on the phone to the rental company! We once had our garden fence blow down in bad weather so the rental agency contacted a gardener to fix it, he did it really quickly but fence was too short (by 1ft) so it didn't match the other fence panels and our neighbours could peer into our garden. Then the day after I saw a load of flooding in our garden next to the fence and couldn't understand where it was coming from so called the agency again and they sent out someone to look - turned out the gardener had managed to pierce a waste pipe in our garden and flooded it! And our neighbour was blaming us for the mess because it was in her garden too! It got fixed eventually but rental agencies always want to do everything on the cheap :(
Ironing the carpet is a new one though - laughed at the clothes iron 😄 why did they think that would work? I think Chris better leave town - he's going to have Kelly's fans hunting him down! Lol! Did you get it all sorted in the end? New carpet throughout? Blessings, Kate x

I like the look of both, with or without the detail but the extras always take a card up that extra notch!
OMG Kelly, I feel your pain on this nonsense with these "professionals"! We had a plumber(s)/contractor here doing some reno work for us on both of our bathrooms a few years ago. It started in Oct. and I swear to God, they did NOT finish it until ONE week before Christmas. I never had to call and chase down anyone so much in my life! I am usually pretty patient with folks like this as I know people have bigger emergencies than what was going on here at that time but REALLY? Lets just say, they were as happy to be done and out of here as I was to see them leave!

Hahaha!!! Let me pull myself together and stop laughing long enough to tell you how much of a difference all of the shading and added details made to your card. Oh my gosh!!! The card came ALIVE when you went back and gave the card some tender loving care! You are the COPIC queen for sure! Wonderful card---thanks so much for showing the before and after of it all, so we can see what a difference shading and fine details make. Have a blessed week Kelly--I'll pray for you. Hugs!!!

Your card is a work of art. Wow - SO much detail! Yes, of course, I noticed the details in the finished card vs the first one. The first one was still really nice, though. I guess it’s the difference between really nice vs amazing. Sorry....I literally laughed out loud more than once during your tale of woe. That is beyond ridiculous. The kicker was the Mr. Liar Liar Pants on Fire. That’s a LOT of nerve. Geez. Poor you. I hope we hear story 3 and it all gets fixed!

  • @clsryan1

Kelly, you’re a saint! 😇 I was trying to keep up with how many “Thursdays” they monopolized with their 3-Stooges nonsense, but I started laughing so hard, I lost count!! Truly, it’s not funny, but listening to you tell it was hysterical! That type of shoddy work is unacceptable & I’d report it to someone higher up!
Now to the card...I really like the results with the 2-colors, but oh my! The 2nd Card is so gorgeous & is so you!! I like detail also, therefore, I notice it. It’s so beautiful & you make it look so effortless. You’ve truly got a gift!

Just LISTENING to this story, I'm ready to pull a full on white lady fit. Like, dude, you need to call the rental company and let them know how horribly unprofessional their maintenance dudes are and demand they fix all this nonsense, including getting all their crap out of your garage. If you need me to, I'll do it for you!

“Do you boo” 😆 the details are the best part of your cards, especially the scene ones. The card with little girl standing by the red car and all of the buildings is what sucked me into your channel- all that detail 🙌🏼 Yaaaaasssss
And your maintenance people sound like mine. Mine just walk in completely unannounced, as does my landlord. And no matter how many times I’m like youuuuuuu def can’t do that 🤔....it still happens. It took us 4wks in the middle of the summer to get our refrigerator fixed!

OK. I do learn from your coloring skills. In fact, I believe I pay more attention to your videos than some others because I intently watch yours. Now, having said that, I come for the stories!!!
I'm proud of you for calling out Mr. Hotpants...now then, my dear Kelly, we lived in a home for over six years with the nearest kin to your "showupandcollectacheck" people and just before we moved we discovered structure problems which said "people" knew about. So, just remember if they let you see all of these mistakes I'm concerned there is so much more there under the "skin" or paint. Just please don't let their behavior fool you.

I love the second one. You can tell a huge difference in the first and second card. Now, storytime! I am so sorry you are going through so much trouble with your maintenance. You would think after 15 trips to your house, they would get their act together! Again, love the card, love the scene!

The first card looks like something I would do, but not nearly as well. Lol. The second card is definitely a Kelly Card. ❤️
My heart breaks for all you are going through! Oh my gosh!! I have never been lucky enough to have to have to rent a place to live, but even hiring for my own home is a nightmare any more. I am old enough to tell you, in the “good old days” when someone agreed to do a job, they did the job. If you didn’t like it, they kept going until you were happy and then you paid them. No more! They always have their hand out and come to do the work when they feel like it. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

  • @carebuzby6382
    @carebuzby6382 6 ปีที่แล้ว

The difference between the simple and the Kelly quality finished work is, of course, night and day. Gorgeous piece--as always!
This flood thing though - - Omgosh the almost identical experience happened to my parents when they came home to their summer condo. The day they arrived, I was there and found a small wet spot that over the course of 10 days turned into the same mess you had due to incompetence and negligence on the part of the complex management. Now they own their home but the incredibly centralized/specialized heating & cooling systems that maintain even the fire suppression systems of the complex is something that pretty much noone in the area either understands or will touch. Also, it turned out the flooding was actually coming from the condo above them and those people refused to acknowledge there was a problem and turn off the blinking water to their system. So the complex management HAD to be involved. Just like yours, it was a series of errors, people in and out, not keeping their word or their appointments, etc. People who said (read bragged...) they had the proper parts/equipment on their first visit suddenly had to order parts and obtain equipment when the time came to actually do their part of the work. It started out with an insurance adjuster saying carpet, padding, drywall, moulding & DOORS all needed replaced and finally was reduced to just restretching existing dirty carpet over dried out padding, dry walling and painting walls, moulding & doors (which will now continue to stick throughout history.) And like your situation, it took from the beginning of the summer until two weeks ago to get it "done." The real joke is after "fixing" the carpet, I. E., not even halfway through the work they were told they would have to either finish the work themselves or find someone to do it and they would be given a check way too small to actually accomplish the task. I wish I knew the name of the upstairs people's insurance so everyone could avoid using them.
So my thinking is this ineptitude must be an industry standard. How is it nobody comes to a job on time with the equipment and materials they KNOW they will need--and still call themselves professional?
If these "professionals" could do their jobs with just a fraction of the care and quality that you do your cards, the whole construction "profession" would have a better name.
In sorry you're still going through all of this. Your work is beyond compare and I truly look forward to each video. Thanx!

OMG on the maintenance guys. I would have had a cop friend come over and sit right in your kitchen in full uniform. Then I would call the landlord and tell him these people are weird and spooky. That would have made me feel unsafe, BIG TIME! The card with the detail is nice but I think they are both awesome. I think the full detail detracts from the actual coloring. I am a detail person too so not sure which way I would go. I liked both cards, just not sure which one I have a preference to. Beautiful cards both of them.

First-time viewer and new subscriber here. I honestly don't know what I enjoyed more; watching your beautiful artwork on this card, or listening to your hilarious story! You are a natural storyteller. It reminds me of the old TV series Murphy Brown, where her maintenance worker just never seems to finish his project(s). She comes home everyday from work and says, " Are you still here? When are you going to finish?" He makes some vague response, and it becomes a running gag throughout the entire run of the series. It gets to the point where when she comes home, he comes out from whatever room he's working on and says, "What are we having for dinner?"
By the way, I think the second card with the detail is more striking than the card without the detail.

Both cards are beautiful but the 2nd one is STUNNING!!
As for your Maintenance issue, I would be LIVID!!! You should tell that P.O.S. Chris or who ever the landlord is that it HAS to be fixed it because....
Mold or not, it's the landlord's responsibility to ensure that the property is habitable. Under the law, you're required to maintain the property for your tenant and make necessary repairs such as fixing broken windows, leaky pipes and roofs.
AND, you can Withhold Rent ...Tenants have a right to withhold rent because landlords are obligated to provide safe and habitable housing under the warranty of habitability. If a landlord breaks this obligation, a tenant's obligation to pay the full amount of rent stops until repairs are made.
Mold is a very serious issue & you don't where else it has spread! Neither you or Peanut needs to be exposed to this toxicity! He's also completely disrupting your life. You could be getting your nap on, Ooops I mean working(Lol) but instead he's dragging possible druggies, liars & a string of various other strange men into your home! No fix, no rent!
Btw....You also have the right to call the building inspector in or a toxic mold "specialist" to make sure the place is safe & habitable!

They get their paycheck while you sit with mold and squishy carpet. Hope it all gets resolved soon. Sounds like they are milking the clock and no proper tools? I was listening to your story and my husband had to come look. He couldn’t believe you were making a card. I am sure your house is as cute as can be but with all the drama you might want to settle for boring and ugly. I loved the first card but the second shows what the difference is between an amateur and an artist. The finished card with the extra shading was a creation the other a project. Good job ! OMG! When water is that bad you should have had big fans running to help dry everything out. That’s what happened when I had a flood in my house. With that wet carpet pad sitting there for so long I can guarantee you that there will be mold on the floor underneath. They even should have dried it from the basement (if you have one) or from the crawl space. I know it’s been a nightmare already but you need to insist it’s done right. I worry for you and peanut. I lived in a place with mold for 3 years and I developed asthma because of it. When I moved the ‘asthma’ disappeared. The floor and bottom of the walls need to be inspected. These guys were clearly idiots! Ok, back to the card. (See what I did there?) I definitely noticed that it didn’t look finished before you added the extra shading and details. I really love the final result! The ice could be a bit more white perhaps but it no longer looks like water. BTW, I laughed so loud at your comment about Jesus walking on water that I scared my cat. Oops! Sorry buddy. Thank you for yet another entertaining video both for stories and for the awesome card. I do hope you post live this Thursday. I’ll set an alarm to make sure I’m there.

Absolutely incredible card! I love both versions. But, when you see the detail, it gives it a different, more completed look. If I had received the one without the details, I would have loved it too! Your story is unbelievable! You can’t get anyone good anymore! People don’t take pride in their work, it seems like. We have had MANY bad experience with people we have hired for various projects. Some have cut corners or even left things undone. I don’t get it! I’m sorry that happened to you!

I would tell them you want a huge discount on your rent or a couple months free for all the inconvenience and exposure to mold they caused. Then start looking for a new place. With all that's happened you should have no issue breaking your lease! About your card, I love the extra details. This is just beautiful!

My other half is sitting here while I'm watching this video, I didn't even think he was listening and he stands up and says, "OH MY GOD...WHY DIDN'T SHE THROW THOSE @--HOLES OUT! They would have been out before she got to part 2!" hahaha. You are a saint.

Love the card!! OMG!!! I would have flipped my lid wide open!!! It is soooo funny how a woman "knows nothing about maintenance" the contractor knows it all!! Oh give me a break!!! I knew when you were telling the story it was all wrong !! Complain girl!! We had an upstairs bathroom leak into our living room ceiling......you better believed I opened the drywall ceiling with a utility knife, hubby was at a soccer tournament. My daughter's boyfriend at the time says, my mom would have never done that!! Ah I had to see where the water was coming from and turn it off!

Holy maintenance nightmare! WOW!! I'd need the property owner on location or I'd tell them I'll pay for repairs and deduct from rent. That's just NUTS! Yikes! Hopefully next Thursday brings resolution for you! 🙄 Yes, definitely card #2 with details... HUGE difference, hands down! 👏👏

Love the 2nd card...it is gorgeous! Can't wait for maintenance story 3...BWAHAHAHA! I know this isn't funny for you but I couldn't help myself. I lived overseas for 7 years and this totally sounds like what went on there. Where I was I get it but here where there's everything you could possibly think of you might need to get the job done, and then some...nope, shouldn't be happening. I will pray this gets resolved soon for you and peanut and grace for you in the meantime.

Beautiful card, I like the shaded card. Your maintenance story was friggon hilarious. I’m watching video on my iPad, I have headphones on and I’m laughing so hard my husband thinks I have lost my mind.

I like the second one. I could tell the difference. If you just want to look at the tree then the first one makes the tree pop. But I like the second since it makes the entire card come to life. Love your videos.

I totally love the second one more! It looks so much better. Your maintenance story is like my delivery story for my bedroom furniture...its been over three months, 3 different delivery companies, & when they finally get it delivered, they only deliver half of the items because the other half was damaged. They knew for 3 months the the items were damaged & didn't do anything about it. It's been another 2 weeks & nothing has been done. Thanks for letting me rant.

Okay, now that the story has ended, and I’ve had some time to breathe (gah - those maintenance men! **shakes fist**)...
    Card opinions.
When I see both side by side, I definitely prefer the second one, with all the details.
HOWEVER. When I just saw the first one, I still thought it was nice. If someone had given that to me, or it had turned up in my mail, I still would have been delighted. I often think the level of detail is for me - it’s not necessarily that my recipient likes it better with the extra detail, but more that I feel happier with it. And that’s totally okay! I make cards for others, but the card making process is also for me, so it’s okay to choose ways of doing things that bring me joy!
I also think the layout of this card didn’t lend itself well to the ‘one main focal point and everything else can be simple’ style. I think that works better when there really is only one focal point (like a puppy and kitten curled up together on the floor, taking up most of the foreground), and then the background can be simple (window / wallpaper etc). Whereas with this card, your eyes are drawn to look at the trees first, but then they also look around the card at all the different cute kids, and what they are doing - so they’re not really background elements at all.

Oh wow Kelly!!! Bless your heart!! But big props to standing up to those men and speaking out!! One of my largest peeves is people who won’t just do the job they’re actually being paid to do!! Stop being lazy and do it right!! I’d ask them “is this good enough for your own house? Then why do it to me?!!!” Seriously hope it works out soon and has a positive ending!! Keep ya head up girl you got this!!! ❤️💙💜💛

Yes I believe we all want to hunt them down now. So a little thing I learned when I was working in real estate... if you say "in the lease we both signed it is clearly stated that you will maintain the premises." Then go on to detail the ineptitude of their attempt to maintain your house, there may be a slight improvement.
BTW, there is a huge difference between the first picture and the second. Beautiful as always.

To the card: the extra time shading was totally worth it, it looks amazing. True, the scene is so adorable that it looked cute before, but with the lil extras it is just wonderful.
To your story: wow. It seems getting rid of Horkuxes or bringing that ring to Mordor was an easier task that fixing a wall...who would have thought ^^.

I love both cards, but the second one is definitely my favorite. Who doesn't love depth, sparkle and shine? LOL!
As for your story, you have the patience of Job. First of all, Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire needs to BE fired. It's obvious from the way "Chris" asked him if he really replaced the pad that this wasn't his first time lying on the job. Second, you need to report these workers to your landlord and then escalate it to a local renters' association or BBB if you don't get some assurances and action. We had a minor water leak from a window a few years back, and when we called our insurance company, a reclamation company swooped in and tore out everything that was wet like the place was on fire. They then used fans to dry everything out completely. Water and mold are nothing to play around with, and I would think the insurance company your landlord uses for your rental would have handled things much better. By not reporting this to the insurance company, your landlord is trying to save money. Shame on him/her. Stay strong, Kelly. Your posse is ready and willing to go to bat for you! (Can we bring a bat? ;-) )

Oh Kelly, you have so much more patience than me I think after the second trip of maintenance I would have fired them all and had their butts turned into the landlord association or something!! Seriously how hard is it to be prepared for a job when you are fully aware of the task at hand. I can see if a new issue arises while working but come on!!! I love the details, I could definitely tell the first one just felt unfinished to me. Best wishes on the living room construction, hopefully it will be done by oh I don't know CHRISTMAS... hugs!
