The writing for the show is on a whole other level. One of my favorite meta jokes is Plankton eating holographic meatloaf. At first glance it's just random, but plankton as a species actually photosynthesize, so in a way they "eat" light. So there's some actual science written into the joke. It just adds another layer to appreciate from those first few seasons

Christian Jay that’s one of the reasons why I love the earlier seasons, because Stephen Hillenburg was able to add actual facts from the ocean from being a marine biologist, which actually taught children more than what the basics say.

@@ChristianJay I love how you have the actors have clothing that resembles the characters from the show. Spongebob is easy because he's a main character fish that wears full clothing (including socks and shoes), Patrick is also pretty simple but the pink t-shirt and the pink Hawaiian shirt is a nice touch, and my favorite atire you have for squidward is with his normal brown shirt and having the actor wear jeans that resembles the color of his skin. I'm just a fan of simple details. The next episode you should do is "Just one bite" it's my favorite episode and this episode reminds of when i tried a hamburger helper for the first time, I tried to deny it but i loved it.
Our next episode is gonna be pretty big. Im excited to get to work on it in a couple weeks (:

I was very skeptical about how y'all would pull off some of the scenes (Squidward launching the clubhouse, Squidward getting lost in the forest, and the food falling out of the sky) but they were done so creatively, I found myself laughing at how clever the effects were. It's the same music cut to as close to original episode's soundtrack as I could get it, but the voices are from us, and the sound effects are from whatever "close enough" source as I could find! (:

Corban nailed everything about Squidward despite never seeing the original show before filming this episode! It's ok now, when we wrapped filming we strapped him to a chair and held his eyes open so he could finally experience those first 3 seasons!

3:08 Squidward just broke the 4th wall sorta since each Spongebob episode last about 11 minutes.
We shot two takes, one where he says the original line of "eleven minutes" and another where he says "twelve minutes." We did that just in case the video ran a smidge longer than the actual episode, but my OCD brain couldnt bring myself to use the "twelve minutes" shot 😂

Spongebob’s actor is enthusiastic and brings life to an already alive character.
Squidward’s actor is also very enthusiastic. He adds more character to Squidward and delivers his lines with a very passionate tone.
Patrick’s actor is very Patrick-esc. He constantly puts very dimwitted expressions on, that do a great job at capturing Patrick perfectly.

It was certainly difficult to keep a straight face with Corban throwing the sticks at Jon's head. We have a bit of it after the credits on the title card. That wasnt even half of our attempts to nail that shot

Honestly, this probably has some of the highest production value I've seen out of any live action SpongeBob remake, everything from the outfits, to the acting, to the props, to the practical effects were great!

We went to a local state park and for the most part was filmed in the forest area, but we NEEDED a picnic table for that shot and it was hard to put one of those in my little car😂

Awesome remake! What makes it more awesome is that the clothes used look quite similar to the ones from the Broadway musical! If only Squidward had 2 extra legs to make him look more like the one from the Broadway musical. I know it would be kind of hard to make the actor walk in four legs while they are connected to the feet, but maybe you might find a way to do that. Once again, great remake.
Oh trust me, if I ever find a way to fit 4 legs onto Corban I'm doing it in a heartbeat!

Also, I don't know about you, but I think it might be a good idea if you dyed the hair of the actors depending on the color of the characters they play to make it feel more as if the characters from the musical were recreating an episode, even though you're not using the actual actors from the musical.
I want to, but Jon works as an EMT so dying his hair pink wouldnt fly in that career. I've got a couple work arounds in mind for the future though!
