I don't think I've ever heard a dark disco vibe on ESC yet. They're literally geniuses. Also love how different it is from On Fire, yet still catchy and on point.
Well, that's one way to think, but the lyrics are not to be understood directly, but in between. As the main singer Vaidotas did tell, the song is about fighting against yourself, barriers you've built against your true nature. Usually we, as human beings, tend to put ourselves to some limits pressed by society. Like, I can be considered sexy only if I have a 6pack, I cannot wear glasses unless I want to make an impression of a geek, I can only be a guy who gives no shit about the others otherwise I will be considered too feminine, etc. So the song itself is about to admit that these "stereotypes" we see as a norm are ridiculous and we need to set ourselves free. The important part is OURSELVES, aka - we don't need some outside force or people to give us permission, first, we need to win the battle ourselves, accept the way we are, and only then we can demand the world to treat us as we see ourselves.
This is stunning. The expectations were high, but they NAILED IT. They are real artists, a full package. And the song is AMAZING, more mysterious, sensual, dark. It's so 2021. I LOVE IT!
They managed to keep what made last year's entry good (the psychedelic mood combined with modern sound) while also making something fresh. I think this will actually do better with the juries than last year's entry would. It's more radio friendly and more universal. It's for sure an early winning candidate.

It must be devastating for an artist: creating a song that is appreciated by millions of people, being predicted to become a winner and suddenly lose this unique opportunity due to pandemic. That's why he's "healing all his wounds" and eventually finds peace and comfort in dancing alone. I just love this song, so many meanings in it.

Honestly I liked On Fire but I found it overrated, although I understood why it was a winner potential. BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!! I hope Lithuania does the right choice and pick them!
When 2020 was cancelled, yes it was disappointing for all the supposed competitors, but i felt particuarly regretful for The Roop and Lithuania. They were undoubtedly going to produce their nations best ever result (if not win the whole thing) and I felt they may have missed their chance. Even more so when the Lithuanian delegation decided that their national selection process was going to be kept. Even the band said they wouldn't automatically decide to compete again. Then spirits were lifted when it was announced that The Roop would compete and be given a pass to the national final. Then, stresses were raised as to whether they could possibly produce anything on the level of "On Fire"......on this point none of us needed to worry. This is another masterpiece!!. The Roop are genuinely talented artists. We will discover amongst the 25 "returnees" who are artists and who are performers...... They might as well cancel the national selection, coz this competition is OVER!! What's more, we are back to the situation of 12 months ago. Lithuania WILL get their best result ever......and it will be so richly deserved..👏👏👏👏👍 All the best and lots of love from Ireland 🇮🇪 Well done guys!!
This is amazing. It's got that disco/80s electronic feel. The choreo is already going to be viral. The fashion styling is classy and clean and pops with that avant garde feel. Those yellow pants are stunning. The song is about being isolated during covid I would imagine and about feeli g comfortable in your own skin and with your own company. Also the idea that being expressive and creative is good for the soul and your mental health. I absolutely feel the darkness but also the uplifting qualities of the song almost acknowledging that we are in tough times but also that we can all get through those tough times together even if we dance alone. Am totally blown away by this. I don't know if anyone knows the song for your own good by the pet shop boys but the chorus of this reminds me of that chorus from that pet shop boys song, that kinda club beat with an ear worm simple melodic chord. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. My favourite this year so far. 😍😍💖

I dont understand why people complaining and criticizing this song. It’s dark, it’s mysterious, it’s catchy, it’s memorable Im glad they went this way instead of doing the laziest thing possible = “On Fire no. 2”. Lithuanian selection is really bad if you ask me so I freaking hope they’ll win again. 💛

I think after a year of listening to it a lot of Eurovision fans will be thinking about on fire but this has some clever potentially viral hooks...the hand thing and eyebrow-ography are things you would watch on TV and try and replicate but even more than this it speaks directly to an audience that might well be in quarantine and gives them permission to dance alone and have a party at home

I love how the two interpretations coalesce and interact with each other: the author's and the more in-your-face one, a lockdown theme. Once you are locked out of other people, just as it is the case with the pandemic, it is the time you must face yourself and then the self acceptance/rejection juxtaposition comes into crazy swing! Brilliant
Discoteque is to On Fire what Replay was to Fuego. It sounds more experimental and more professional but it isn't as easy to connect to at first listen, which is very important in Eurovision. So Discoteque has less televoting appeal. On Fire was catchier and more rhythmic.
