JFK: Secret Service agent Clint Hill still 'haunted' by Kennedy's death

Former Secret Service agent Clint Hill has given his account of the fateful day in Dallas when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Mr Hill was agent number nine travelling in a car behind the President on 22nd November 1963. In this emotive interview he reveals despite jumping on the President's car to try and protect him, he is still haunted by the fact that he was unable to save him. The 80-year-old also recounts the reaction of Jackie Kennedy when she realised that her husband has been fatally shot. Report by Lauren Hood.

Wasn't it though? Clint hill explained that when he came to the car he was trying to get the President from Mrs Kennedy she didn't want to let him go so he pulled his coat off and put it over his head and upper body when he did that she relaeased him. He figured it out that she didn't want anybody to see himthat way.

Kennedy insisted on this, over the vehement objections of the SS. His earlier parades had gone well, and he wanted to appear as open and welcoming to the crowds as they'd been to him. He also ordered the SS to stay back (and off of) the Limo.

If you view the entire video of the motorcade, you can clearly see that Clint Hill is riding on the back bumper of the Presidential limousine whenever people were close to the limousine, or whenever the crowds were large.

I don't recall hearing Agent Clint Hall's personal testimony but I am so glad I did! Over and over through the many years his recollections are crystal clear and completely lucid. He served 5 US Presidents: Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Jerald Ford. He is an important historical figure and a fine gentleman.
I was just 3 years old when Kennedy was murdered so don't remember much...but it was the 1st time I saw my father cry.JFK's death affected the UK almost as much as it did the US.
I had just turned five. I was in kindergarten and was home (1\2 day and went in the morning) My father had the day off and he and I were laying down to take a nap. I remember my mother coming in and waking my father and saying "The president has been shot " . I saw it live when Walter Cronkite announced that Kennedy had died. I remember Oswald being shot and for the next few days all of the news coverage. I watched where he laid in state and the whole funeral. Two things that are burned into my memory are , little John saluting as his fathers casket passed and Black Jack, the riderless horse with the boots backwards in the stirrups escorting Kennedy's caisson to Arlington. Black Jack was the perfect horse for the occasion . He was spirited and his handler had his hands full . He was the spirit America had at that time that was brought on by Kennedy .

Forgive my honesty, but this exposes the truth that the Secret Service had been extremely lucky before Nov 22, 1963 and the only reason the President had not been assassinated sooner was that no one had seriously attempted it. The first time that someone seriously attempted it, they succeeded. Of course, it's impossible to guarantee anyone's safety or completely protect any individual in such open circumstances. Thanks to Mr Hill for his service and for his memoir on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Nov 22, 1963.

The level of trauma he has shown , and if you know his back story post Secret Service life. Has to make him the most credible witness to this event. His story is even more credible than the doctors who retell theirs. His flows different and while it is always the same it’s never the same exact word for word for word account like a few of the doctors, who’s story sounds very static. Every interview doesn’t vary by more than a word or two .
Please stop with the nasty comments. Clint Hill got there as soon as possible, read his book Mrs. Kennedy and Me and also The Kennedy Detail, the secret service was devoted to President Kennedy and his family. Clint Hill was probably in love with Jackie, but too much of a professional to mention it. He suffered for years from the events in Dallas as did other agents.

i just finished reading the transcript and this account is slightly different than the testimony Agent Hill gave to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and members of Congress shortly after the incident. He never mentioned a 3rd shot and was more definitive about his actions between [what he described as] the 1st and second shot. But I guess he's told this account verbally and in print so many times over the last five decades, memories do fade.
He said he never heard the second shot so the third would of been the second to him till he was later told about the second shot , he says something about a motor bike being close as he made his way to the car so drowned it out .

If the kill shot entered from the rear and exploded the upper right then his head is not going off to the left as one can CLEARLY see in the Zapruder film .. with the utmost respect to Mr Hill, he has that completely backwards - the fatal shot entered the upper right and exploded out the back right of the skull; the monumental damage on the back was readily confirmed by every doctor in that Trauma Room 1 and I believe there are some autopsy photos that show it .. kill shot came from behind the fence on the knoll
Accounts for what slides across the trunklid of the limo that Mr Hill swipes away before Jackie can reach it. If the shot came from the back of would not have been there
I couldn't piece together in my mind how blood and bone fragments would have ended up on the rear of the car if the shot came from behind. They also talk about blood being spattered all over the car that was following behind, which surely could not have been possible if the shot was from the book depository building.

One of the shots fired from 1 of the assassin's that hit President Kennedy actually came from the stormdrain that the motorcade went past after they came round the bend onto Deley Plaza, which is also confirmed by a police officer who heard some shots coming from that Direction...Hence why in 1 of the many still photos I've seen from that tragic Day there is a pic that speaks a 1000 words Just on it's own, it shows onlookers frozen in fear and panic while the main focus is of that police officer looking Directly Down to the Direction of the stormdrain... it also shows a shadowy figure over by the Pickett fence who had no Buisness Being there, like some sort of grim reaper Quickly inspecting his wicked work amongst the ensuing chaos unfolding before him that he and his fellow accomplices had caused...and that shadowy figure was none other that Mac Wallace, LBJs personal hitman who had already taken care of 6 previous human problems for his Boss, but this hit was the Biggest of them all the pinicle of his professional hitman career...however the assassin in the storm Drain was probably Clifton Carter another LBJ hitman and on the LBJ hitman team...
Others have theorized that the kill shot came from a gunman down in the sewer grate on the street, where the limo basically came to a full stop.
Watching this on July 30, 2023. I have watched many of JFK videos and Clint Hill videos. I just bought Clint Hill book "Five Presidents". Cannot wait to receive it and read it. Plan to buy one of his other books later about Mrs. Kennedy, since he was her Secret Service Agent. Living life is not based on "what if's" because they never happened. You can only do your best with what you are given in life. Or what God gives us and you did that Mr. Hill. You were the only brave one who ran towards the President's car and jumped on to the back and pushed Mrs. Kennedy back inside. No one else did what you did that day. It was not your fault. The President and Senator Connelly wanted car top down, it was bright sunshine and to be close to crowds, so they could be seen as it was a campaign for re-election. Your efforts were super human, as well as your bravery. Blessings to you.

In my research for Dealey Plaza - The End of Camelot, I went to Swarthmore College Library’s Ruth Paine section. I spent three mornings reviewing Oswald’s information.
I viewed a rough draft of a letter Oswald had scribbled on a plain piece of paper that Ruth Paine had found in her house. It was a strange, rambling letter with uneven margins all broken up, revealing a confused state of mind.
I have studied people’s handwriting most of my life. His handwriting was unclear, meandering across the page, very childlike, a scribble in places, unsteady with no continuity. His grammar poor. A bizarre letter - wandering, nonsensical.
What engrossed me was his “Signature Block.” It was a jumble that screamed an indescribable horror leaping out at me from the page, frightening me, captivating me for minutes. It was like looking into hell only worse. I saw the “Embodiment of Evil,” a horrifying numbing experience, horror beyond description.

JFK was wearing a back brace to correct his posture. The backbrace prevented him from being able to duck down to evade the third bullet

He almost died during back surgery in 1954, at which time he was given the Last Rites of the Catholic Church. President Kennedy lived in constant pain from his back problems.

The interviewer on this blew it, - At 2:05, Hill meant to say "and exploded out the right FRONT quadrant of his head." But what he actually says was "The right REAR quadrant..." The interviewer should've stopped him and made him clarify the mistake. What he is saying with his HANDS is consistent with a shot from the rear (school book depository building) BUT what he says with his MOUTH (the BACK of the head exploding would be consistent with a shot from the FRONT (grassy knoll.) Consequently, his testimony is shit. If 50 years from now you were reading a transcript of this testimony/interview you would clearly see the conflict. I haven't looked through all the comments, but most people do not listen clearly enough to catch this sort of mistake. Prosecutors even miss this sort of detail, but years later, after the fact, mistakes like this, THIS is how conspiracy theories are created.

The official autopsy photos don't show a hole in the back of the neck, only a small hole farther down on the spinal columb. So if this is the case, then how could a bullet exit the throat at about the knot in the neck tie area? Answer is it couldn't not at the alleged angle that Oswald supposedly fired from. I believe the hole in the throat was an entrance wound from a frontal shot just like the Parkland Doctors first suspected it was. Also, if JFK was hit in the back of the head, why wasn't the front of his face blasted out? The autopsy photo shows the front of his face still intact. I find that to be very questionable in itself. I think the autopsy photos should have been more detailed and better lighting used considering who they were photographing. I believe the whole autopsy was a complete sham, which is a tragedy in itself. These are only my personal opinions.
The description Mr Hill gives of the "third" bullet hitting the back of the President's head and coming out at the right side doesn't coincide with his description of the brain matter splattering the truck of the car, Mr Hill, and Mrs Kennedy. From that direction, wouldn't that matter have flown front and right, all over the inside of the car in front of and to the right side of the President and on Gov Connelly, as well as the the back and top of the jump seat? Plus, in the videos of the event, JFK's head, when mortally hit, went back and to the left. Wouldn't a shot from the back have sent the head forward and to the left? I have Clint Hill's book, Five Days In November. Lots of great pictures and some good behind the scenes info of being with the First Lady and the family during that time. Interesting how he swears there were three shots fired, while he heard only two. If he didn't hear "shot # 2", how does he know he didn't hear other shots that witnesses claim were fired? So many question about that day...

In another video, Clint Hill clearly stated that the rear of President Kennedy's head was blown out and he could see inside his skull ... the REAR. He even showed with his hand where the wound was .. .in the RIGHT REAR!! Now in this video, Hill says something completely different that the front right of the president's head was missing.
