So it wasn’t just me 🥲. The whole interview was a setup for it! All through the interview, hearing Richard giggling, obviously nervous, I kept thinking “he really *really* loves - AND respects - his old coach!” And the way Coach smoothed everything out for him, kept making his old player look good… what a fantastic relationship they have. And then *BOOM* “I’m proud of you”… I gotta say, I am 61 years old, born a d bred lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan, nothing at all invested in these guys, but I grew up with a “dad” who was never anything but a bully, tore me down to nothing, relentlessly, for no reason… I always get the impression that, for all his on field bluster, his Stanford 4.0 academic creds, his Hall of Fame career, I always get the impression that Richard doesn’t believe how amazing he is; he needs to be validated by someone who matters. In that regard I see myself in him. It’s obvious that Richard reveres Coach Carroll. Coach Carroll matters - as much as a father matters. Hearing him say “I’m proud of you” 🥲… that was powerful. To Richard -and- to me. I didn’t know it before… but I love both of these guys.

This was a great interview. Couple this with how many players we've seen stay on or return to the scene these last two years is really emotional. As fans we absolultely fell in love with this team and it's players during those playoff/superbowl years. Watching them lose the superbowl and then losing those players one at a time was almost like watching a loved one get a diagnosis of a terminal illness, and then having to watch them slowly succumb over several years. I'm excited about our team this year and all the possibilities, but independent of that, I think there's a lot of fans who are finally healing as we watch these reunions and celebrations. Thanks for bringing us along in this phase of the journey.

What a phenomenal interview. Richard Sherman has become a young elder statesman of football. He’s got the perspective from the group uo through mgmt. Loved hearing it from Pete himself. To hear why Pete threw the ball makes sense to get all 4 downs out of the possession. But the Pats had practiced for that specific play. Crushing to the players & all of them. Pete Carroll has a real culture there & having the old Boomers who are the reason Pete was there to build it is great.

As a Pats fan, who rooted for Pete in the late 90’s, and experienced one of the best moments of being a fan when Butler picked it off, this was a great interview. I always respected Richard, even when he was talking MAD SHIT to Brady, you were one of the best CB’s to strap them up. You’re very good at what you’re doing now. I wish, and obviously Pete or yourself aren’t going to get into what happened in the LR after that game, especially I’m sure what Marshawn was like, but this interview took us really deep into how you guys delt with it. Props Sherm. You are still the classic GIF of all time. But much respect for sticking your hand out at the end of that game. 😉

Love the interview. In my opinion, Pete is the best coach of all time. And any player that gets coached by him is incredibly lucky. As a fan, Im going to be bummed the day he retires. Wish many more great seasons!

I think that was super cool having these guys sort of make up from past issues. It’s not often former players and coaches actually get to sit down and talk about their time in front of a camera

Lotta love for these guys. So glad everything got patched up with Sherm, best corner Hawks ever had (maybe Woolen will be better, but that's a tough task). This just shows again, what a great coach and leader Pete is. Thanks Rich for the interview, nice job!

As a patriots fan I love you Pete but as a football fan I love you even more. Like Rich said I feel like Pete even sell himself a bit short, he has brought so much love to the game it’s just so enjoyable watching. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an NFL coach that loves what they do more than Pete, the amount of energy he shows within his organization on the side line, always having a positive spin on bad events, he just gets the best out of his guys and it’s been an honor to watch.
I am so excited to watch this Seahawks team this year because they are criminally underrated largely because of the unique cast they have

It’s good to see Richard and Pete talking! And finally to hear Pete speak about the plan of that 2nd down SB play. There should have been a better plan than to throw to the 3rd or 4th player on the WR depth chart. Well, I’d have rolled right with Russell to either outrun the DE or throw it to DB. I believe that may have just worked. And if DB isn’t open, after faking to run left, but run a passing route right, Russell simply throws it away. That preserves your final timeout with 2 more downs to gain 1 yard. But hey, I’m not the coach, but it’s what I would have called. But to me it sounds like there was no clear plan on what was called. You’ve got to have a plan. And I’m sorry but throwing to the 3rd or 4th WR would never have been part of my plan. The WR and Russell were both slow in their actions, and the WR ran so slow that gave the DB an opportunity to jam the route. Darn shame!😂

I hope I can have at least 1/3 of the youthfulness and energy Coach Carroll has when I get to his age. What a fantastic interview! Thanks for this Sherm!
