This all just reminds me of a couple that contracted bookkeeping services from me, that I performed in their home. They were 1%-ers; he was a Superior Court Judge while she ran a real estate company. Their "budget" for food was $4K per month on average; they had two teenage children. While the housekeeper was sent to Costco twice a month and spent hundreds of dollars buying organic, non-gmo produce, prepared foods, along with jars/cans of various items....they rarely ate ANY of it. It would all get tossed in the trash when it started to mold or go bad. So, what did they eat? Breakfast was cold cereal, fast food was the primary sources of lunch, and also for the teens for dinner while the parents went out to top notch expensive restaurants for dinner. Since the cleaning of the fridge and pantry was done by myself along with the housekeeper. I encouraged the housekeeper to take home to her family any non-perishable items tossed, and I routed the rest of the non-perishibles to a local food bank. It was a tragedy watching all that expensive produce go into the trash. The money my husband and made together was a fraction of this family's yet we ate SO much better than they did. Their money didn't buy them a better diet or better food, and it was just very wasteful. I'll take my life over theirs any day.
It’s a shame how much food we waste. We have this thing in our brains where we over-buy due to a fear of famine and scarcity, and we waste so much of it. It’s a shame so many people didn’t watch. They may have gotten something positive out of it. It was just supposed to be a fun video, but hopefully informative, too.
I'll start by saying that I'm a big fan of your videos, and have recommended them to many people and got a lot of value out of them over the years. Respectfully, the inclusion of Musk's name in the video title is provocative given the timing of when it was posted and the broader context of the man's very recent actions. In the last 48 hours, Musk announced support for the German AFD party, who are literal neo-Nazis. During the same period, an AFD supporter carried out a terrorist attack in Germany that killed 5 people and injured 60 at a Christmas market. He also indicated he would bankroll the UK far-right Reform party in the country's next election, much as he just did in the United States. That's just two countries, in two days. It doesn't even touch on his actions during that period in America. With that context, I hope it is understandable why seeing the name of a neo-Nazi who is currently trying to help other neo-Nazis come to power across the globe would elicit a knee-jerk negative response from some quarters. This is amplified because the tone/concept is one of emulation -- how to recreate something the man likes, even something as mundane as his favourite foods. I know that I for one got a cold chill down my spine and a pit in my stomach when the titlecard and notification showed up on my phone. It's a twofold response: once from seeing the name itself, once from the fact that it's included so prominently in the content of someone we otherwise admire and respect. I personally considered unfollowing, afraid of what its inclusion might be hinting at in terms of the values held by this channel. I don't believe it was your intent to have the title of this video be a dogwhistle or a broader indication of the channel's values. I'm sure the video took time to record and edit, and that you may not even have been aware of the last 48 hours of actions taken by that man or what including his name may signal to certain audiences. But I hope this helps to add context and to clarify as to why you may be receiving a strong and instinctive negative response from some quarters. I do believe that being clearer about your intent up-front would help turn down the temperature. You mention in the comments that referencing Musk is about him being 'the richest man in the world' -- not as much about him personally as someone to admire, or the politics he is supporting. If you would consider it, two small changes might help mitigate some of the negative response you're receiving and make your intent clearer: 1) editing the video title to say "I Cooked [and Grew] the Richest Man in the World's Favourite Foods" rather than referencing Musk himself so explicitly and prominently, and 2) Potentially adding 10 seconds of content at the start of the video to clarify that the concept is about recreating the foods of the wealthy, not endorsing any individual's actions or beliefs. (For all I know the latter may already be in there; personally, I was too repulsed by the idea of trying to recreate a neo-Nazi's favourite anythings to watch, though I'm sure there is valuable information in the video itself.) I hope this was helpful, and at least puts into context why the response you've received has been so raw and reactive. Take care and happy solstice to you and your family (especially Dale). @@TheMillennialGardener

I've only just started growing tomatoes for sauce myself, but in my research, it sounded like people unanimously agree the best sauce tomato is San Marzano, so that's what I'm planning to grow this upcoming Spring.
This is hard to say, because it is such a personal taste sort of thing. Some grow paste tomatoes. Some grow cherry tomatoes for a sweeter sauce. Some grow beefsteaks since they’re in the middle of paste and cherry. Personally, I grow 25 different varieties and just mix them all in the blender! It always works great. Any home grown tomato will make quality passata.
@@meowcat64if you're own growing a few varieties that is an excellent choice. Always good and results in a traditional taste. Any paste tomato is good. The idea is they have more flesh, less watery, so if you are wanting a nice thick sauce you don't have to cook it down as much..
I'm in a totally different climate (Australia) but the best sauce tomatoes I've found are the San Marzano or just your regular Roma. If you can grow either of those you'll be in a good place.😊

It is awesome! It is a great way to sear meat. Even if you don’t want to buy a sous vide circulator, you just bake your meat at 250°F on a cooling rack in your oven, pat it dry and torch. No need to use oil or dirty up your countertop with splatter from searing in a pan.
He was part of "Team Unity" during the campaign, explicitly to help curb government spending and efficiency, and a lot of people voted for Trump because of that. Why is it so weird for Elon to be chiming in on an issue he said he would, or for Trump to take the counsel of people he said he would? This is completely expected, in addition to the President being able to take advice from whoever he wants. Do you disagree with curbing government spending, reducing the debt, and not allowing them to pack a bunch of unrelated nonsense into bills under a different name? And just so you know, I always watch your videos to the end, I very much enjoy the usual end segments with Dale. That being said, you are very mistaken if you think I am actively angry. Perhaps disappointed in this video but certainly not angry. Could you have chosen a less divisive political lightning rod of a billionaire "placeholder"? Perhaps you could have. But since it had to be Elon, a political and controversial person to say the least, you should not be so surprised at disappointed reactions you are getting. Perhaps you should have anticipated them. I am not here to overreact, storm off or unsubscribe. I enjoy the majority of your content and hope to continue to do so. But not this one particular video.
Sorry for all of the grief you are getting. As usual, some people just miss the whole point. Don't let them bother you and let them go. You put so much effort into every video and there are a lot of us that appreciate it. That being said, this is one of my favorite videos! Content, creativity, humor, educational, and the comments all have me enthralled AND LMAO! Thanks!
(For all I know the latter may already be in there; personally, I was too repulsed by the idea of trying to recreate a neo-Nazi's favourite anythings to watch, though I'm sure there is valuable information in the video itself.)
I hope this was helpful, and at least puts into context why the response you've received has been so raw and reactive. Take care and happy solstice to you and your family (especially Dale).

I want to make pasta sauce next year. What is the best tomato to grow in my garden to achieve this? I live in Northern Ohio
