Every now and then I come back to this video, and I’m always left with chills and teary eyes. This is my favorite interpretation of Inis Oírr. Full of longing and emotion. I generally love the sound of the organ, and paired to the sound of your low whistle, it feels like a spiritual experience. Beautiful, really beautiful playing from the both of you, thank you for sharing!
Wow wow wow!!!! I can't believe you commented! Thank you so much for listening. I absolutely love playing your composition whenever I can, on whistle, or piano or even just singing. Thank you again. I'm stoked!
What a privilege to play in a place like that and with a sympathetic organist. I have played with an organ but alas the organist has passed away and the organ scrapped.
@@ExiledZug The organist I played with has passed on and the organ was a early electronic one which we couldn't get spare parts for, so it was scrapped when the building was refurbished.
@@monkzie1980 Sorry for the humble comment. I'm from Russia, so I don't speak English well. In any case, your game has touched all the thin strings of my soul. It was magical! Please do not leave the channel and your creativity! You have great potential. Music is definitely your calling!
Hi, thanks for your comment. I am also a church organist myself, so I wrote the accompaniment for the organ. I particularly love how the organ flute ranks go so well with the low whistle. Yes, I can give you my accompaniment if you DM or private message me.
The whistle I play is called a Chieftains Low D (untunable) whistle. I purchased it in 1998 in a music shop in Belfast, Northern Ireland, when I was a student, for £80. Unfortunately that shop has gone out of business, but you can get the same whistle in many more outlets these days for about £140 - £180. I would definitely recommend a tuneable version though. Definitely!
I'm sorry, but you're going to hate my reply - there is no best place to buy a low D whistle. The reason is because every single low D whistle plays and sounds and feels slightly differently. The only way to to feel satisfied with any purchase you make, is to visit a shop (or visit the maker, but this might be prohibitively expensive) and play a couple of whistles from different makers. Believe me: you'll find your perfect match very quickly this way! There is no "bad" whistle; just more accurately, a whistle that suits you. Good luck!
@@monkzie1980 thank you for the reply, I come from a country where whistles aren't played and there is no shop nearby or in the city that sells such an instrument. @@sunithafrancis7091 I don't know where you live, but I think we have found a perfect excuse for you to visit my country - Ireland!!! That way you can try many whistles! But, to be serious, I understand the financial issues this might bring. I personally play a Chieftains Low D Whistle. I recommend you look at their website (which is Irish). I have also played a Tony Dixon Low Whistle, which I quite liked. He is based in England, so may have different postage rules? I'm not sure. But his whistles are quite cool. Good luck!
And I should have added that my whistle is the non-tuneable version. However, whiIst I would recommend a Chieftans whistle, I would also most definitely recommend a *tuneable* version!

Both the music and the video capture the eerie and empty sadness of the early days of Covid -- well done!
Thank you so much for your comment - it's so apt. Those early days were awful; full of uncertainty, not knowing what was to come.
L'escolto molt sovint i sempre em mersvella la sevs interpretació. Felicitsts!
This is absaloutley beautiful and Its very satisfying that you spelled it right 😄
Thank you - I really appreciate it. I'm a school teacher by day, so spellings are really important to me! 🙂😂

Wow this is real "cosmic drainpipe", and I'm jealous of the vibrato! I haven't heard many people play as well as this, even on recordings.

Heartwarming! Beautiful sound in combination with the organ. Can I ask which brand of the whistle are you playing?

It's either a Chieftain Thunderbird, or a Chieftain V3 whistle. Looks more like a Thunderbird to me though.
What Low D whistle are you playing? Lovely sound well played.

nice

who is the maker of the whistle and what model is it?
Chieftain Thunderbird Low D (probably)

Chieftain is not the exact model of whistle by the way. They're asking if it's the V3, V4, V5 or Thunderbird series.
