The league should never have let a club so rich in spirit and history with a large passionate supporter base go down the tubes, they were a huge asset to the game

I say de-merge the Wests Tigers and bring back the Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies.

Now that's something that's badly needed in today's NRL - a bit of needle doesn't hurt anyone in the long run. How fitting was it that Ellery Hanley earned every penny of that megabucks contract by scoring that try.
And 3:23, that Balmain fan/trainer giving it some - magic.

Ellery was superb and the best transfer from England although I would of liked to see my old favorite from Hull FC (Steve "knocker" Norton) go out and test his brilliant style against the best in the world.

The Cronulla Sharks 🦈 should have won the 1988 premiership. They were the best team all year. But I think they didn't have enough finals experience compared to Canterbury & Balmain. That was the difference.

A game that I was present, remember it well.
Sideline seat, with a detetective sitting next me, he had a gun on his hip.

No, he followed Bill Ashurst who played for Wigan in England and Newcastle in Australia. Both teams were privileged to have him

There was a time there that Ellery Hanley was like a man playing boys. Terry Lamb took him out and got clean away with it. That changed everything.
