    Seems like a great match for the SP140. Thanks for the review.

    How fortunate for you to be able to fly with such a great pilot :)

    Paul, would be great to see a list on the OpenPPG site of different wings (make/model/size) you have tested in calm conditions, and note the level cruising energy consumption.

    Great video, there is absolutely no fender efficiency rating online, so the idea of comparing by power consumption is a very good one! What was the flight speed at 3.3 kW? Another way to increase efficiency and reduce propeller noise is to add an aerodynamic ring around the propeller with as little clearance as 1cm. The result is something similar to an axial fan. For an electric paramotor it is not as difficult as for a gasoline one because of the absence of vibrations.

    What is the fuel/battery efficiency compared to the Viper XC?

    Thanks, Paul! Great video!
    I'm not sure how efficient it is, but my Independence Tensing 23 single skin only weighs about 5lbs. I am able to reverse launch in almost zero wind, and it is very stable like my Spyder. The only downside is that the landings are a bit faster since it does not have much flare authority. For an old guy like me, it is great for nil wind. I am looking for a double-skin with lightweight material on both surfaces so "inland" landings will be a bit slower. I probably need to stick with a "B" wing though. Everyone needs more than one wing!

    Do you have a recommendation for an efficient EN-A/EN-B wing? I'm getting ready to upgrade from my first wing and use the SP140 as my primary flying, so efficiency is super important to me. Something similar to Spyder 3 but with efficiency in mind. The Viper 6 is way, way too spicy for my abilities. Really appeciate all your work on the SP140 and the great videos.

      You should check out the Kona 3, I think that's what the other guy is flying in the video. It's pretty efficient and a good B wing.

      Take a look at the Luna 3. I think it would be a good stepping stone between the wings you mentioned.

      Ya the Kona 3 is pretty efficient and a good option if you want to also have a good wing to do some paragliding.

    PK risers would be a huge advantage for comp flying.

    Epic video man!!! Could you do this to a FLOW cosmos power 2 wing and a RPM 2 XC wing? Would be epic to see the efficiency🤙😎

    • @PDWhite
      @PDWhite  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ya I would love to test a bunch of different wings and chart the amount and see what's efficient and not efficient. They're just really isn't much information like that out there. So I think It would be really good.

    I'm curious, would you say that the extra efficiency translates directly into climb rate as well? I fly a 21m freeride2 at high elevation on my mini trike and while everything else about the freeride is perfect for me, the climb rate sucks. Was considering a viper6 22m, do you think the climb rate would be significantly improved?

    • @PDWhite

      @@direfrost9879 Ya your climb rate would improve quite a bit.

    Do you happen to know the advertised sink rate?, Ozone like most don't share much performance info.

    Is it really that much more efficient than the Viper XC? With the only differences being lighter fabric and unsheathed lines. Tucker was getting like 5.2Kw at cruse vs your 3.3Kw….

    • @PDWhite
      @PDWhite  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think Tucker ever flew it with the XC wing. I've only ever seen him test with the spider3 and Freeride. Do you have a link to the video of him flying with the XC?

      @@PDWhiteHe flew Viper XC in his duration testing video.

    • @PDWhite
      @PDWhite  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@mj47749 I see it now. Yeah he flew a 16 m which is the smallest size they make and being overload on the wing doesn't help efficiency. Also looks like he was not trimmed in for the duration test which also hurts efficiency. Then also the viper 6 is more efficient than the XC just because the unsheathed lines make a difference. So those three factors you would expect to be higher power required.

    I wonder what the lifespan of this wing will be. It has the thinner material with a new coating. Ozone isnt know for their wings lasting that long. Heard tons of stories about wings failing porosity test at low hours. It also doesnt seem to make much sense to make this wing and the viperxc.

    hello. at the end of the day. all the materials you've mentioned are already here and now. its all down to the manufacturers..and yes the riser system is too complicated. prone to tangles etc.why complicate anything. .and the wing.... the materials used. makes by far a better wing.i dunno who test flies the wings? and why they cant pickup on things .?
