      No its only backfire srilanka, not cochi or any other ports because its a transhipment port kochi and any other port of india is not a transhipment port, it only effect business of colombo, dubai, and singapore...

      It will affect Sri Lankan port but not cochin port. Sri Lankan port is a transhipment hub, but kochi port is just another port which doesn't have much business as of now. If Vizhinjam port comes, the transhipment will be shifted towards Trivandrum and all other ports will have more traction including kochi port.

    This will benefit Kollam to Kanyakumari.. I would say mainly Kanyakumari side.. Because there are many free spaces and land value also cheap..Kerala is so congested and can't handle any industrial buildings

    Trivandrum mother port is benefit for Trivandrum and Kanyakumari because Kanyakumari have lots of free space to start business and labour and labour problems are less, so definitely business will focus on Kanyakumari.

      Who told kanyakumari has a lot of free spaces. Come and see the kanyakumari district. There is no free space to start any businesses. Probably tirunelveli region has more benefits to start businesses

    Actually India needs more mother ports to satisfy its future demands. Studies show that Colachel is the only other place in India suitable for mother ship port. If Colachel port is also taken up then India can go to great heights

    Sir, for mother vessel,/ VLCC require even more deeper waters. During morning and or evening, the port will become shallower by as much 6-9 meters.
    Around India border, most water depth is between 50-150 meters only

      Colechal port project is dropped.. No need of two ports nearby.. Major advantage of vizhinjam port is Trivandrum internairport is very close to vizhinjam sea port around 9 kms.. Air cargo iis benefitted..

      Please don't say anything like this without knowing the facts. At that time Kerala govt was least interested in implementing this project. The then govt (udf/Congress) had lobbies in kochi and was interested only in kochi port. So just to please the people of Kerala and Trivandrum, they just invited tenders bid for vizhinjam port and although they got interests from some companies, eg: Hyundai from South Korea etc..., They kept on extending the tender bid dates. Since they were extending the dates, those companies lost their hope and revoked their tender. And at last when the time of extended tender was about to end, there were no interests from any company. So it was kind of obvious that this project won't happen because after the tender bid is closed, there is no chance to extend or reopen the bid. At the last date of this tender, something crazy happened. Central and State govt had a meeting on this at around 3 or 4 pm. It was a Friday. On that day, around 6 pm the tender would close. After that meeting between the centre and State i.e, between the then PM Narendra Modi and the then CM Oomen Chandy, around 5 - 5 30 pm adani sent an interest for the tender. By 6 pm the tender bid was closed. Adani was the only bidder, they got this project.
      Nothing was disclosed on what was discussed in the meeting. On last day, meeting around noon or evening, just before 45 mins to end the tender bid, adani sends interest, bid closing adani got the tender. Something fishy ig but anyways we are happy because it is the only reason why this port became a reality!

      In this video (if you understand Malayalam) he clearly mentions what Oomen Chandy as a CM has done for this project and the then govt's love for kochi related projects. If you don't know who this man is then I don't have anything to say.
      Then about the the final bid day. That news I tried to find it but the thing is I exactly don't know when was the final bid date and so I was not able to collect the articles related to the tender on that specific date. If I get a chance to get the exact article from credible resources I will definitely link it too here.
      As of now this is the only evidence I can produce here. If you still say it's a story created by me, I won't care it because I don't want to prove it to you here that this is not the story. The readers of this comment can decide what exactly is true.
      To the readers: Sorry for only producing very limited evidence I am just saying what I know. Not here to prove that I am the only one saying facts. I am a localite here and very keenly interested in this project. So I used to read through all the info I can get regarding this project. With this info I am texting here. One thing I accept that I might be wrong because all info that I get might not be the exact facts.
      I will accept any constructive criticisms regarding this but please don't expect any low level arguments from me.

      But I feel two things in your comment is too much exaggerated.
      1. Hyundai revoked the tender.
      Hyundai consortium, and some other companies expressed interest in the project. But they didn't even buy tender documents.(source:news articles)
      2. Modi's last minute 30min phone call and adhaani's bid.
      I know adani was the sole bider in the last tender. But this last 30min call thing I didn't heard anywhere else.

      @@gokul.t01 Yes the Hyundai thing, final bid was not submitted by them. Only interest was shown. But one of the companies if I am right, gave the bid and when the govt extended the tender invitation window they revoked their bid. This is what I remember.
      And in my knowledge regarding Adani's bid, they submitted it within 1 hr of the deadline of the tender invitation window. I mean on the last day of the tender invitation, around 45 mins before the closing time, Adani gave its bid. Just before that if I am right, both PM and CM had a discussion regarding it. Unfortunately I am not able to produce any news articles regarding this. If I get any I will link it here.
      I am not arguing that I am 100% right. Maybe what you are saying is right. I am just telling what Is remember.
