I can't begin to tell the stories of my 34 years living in the Utica area (Vernon NY) and working in Utica. That city helped shape my life and though I've moved to Florida, Central NY is still my home, and always will be. From the Stanley, to St. Luke's where I was the lead Security on duty in the afternoon's for a little over two years, to Tom Cavallo's (I guess that's technically New Hartford but hey, it's still Genesee st. lol) to the Utica Aud where I saw WWF as a little kid, and of course, Saranac Brewery and Saranac Thursday's. So many memories but so much has changed since I've left.
That’s Amazing and Wow. Everything you just mentioned brought on goosebumps. I been to all those spots for some of the same occasions. We have also moved to Florida just a year ago and I still think about those days. I was at every satanic Thursday for 2 years. lol. Cavallos for wings and drinks, WWE at the aud back in the day. We will going back home in October and I’m definitely going to have to hit up a few of the old spots and some of the newer ones. When growing up and living life you do t realize how all those things become future memories and nostalgic.
@@maybeJace ofc Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute use to be one of my favorite location to go , also theres the zoo utica zoo also Union Station where the dmv local , also there is F T Proctor Park one of my favorite parks , it's calm city not alot of gang are in the town small city with good community , good luck,
We’re you stationed at Griffiss? I live right off of Floyd ave by the old base entrance. I should do a video of the base and the old base housing. It is much different now
@@rmanna Funny that you mentioned Griffiss. I worked at RADC IN 76 and 77 for a contractor building the Anechoic Chamber used for testing in the development of the Air Launched Cruise Missile. The base always had something going on back then .
I drove through Utica myself about a decade ago. It looks nicer now than back then. Maybe it was cuz Sunday. But there were no other cars. No people, and all businesses shuttered. I only saw a group of young kids celebrating a wedding. They were Yugo Refugees. I also ate at this Bosnian restaurant. It was terrible.
They have done a lot of work. Recently they put a new hospital downtown. I now live in Fl but next time I go back home I should do an update video. There are so many good restaurants in Utica sucks you got a bad one
Take a left where the video stopped to get to the Utica Zoo, Utica College directly on the right, and Paxton - St. Lukes hospitals are down the road if you turn right. I'm fairly certain that what we call downtown actually ends once you pass Oneida Square about a half mile behind. But all in all an enjoyable video. Almost makes me homesick (almost🤣).
I used to pump gas at bud's shell on john street, back when gas was 30 cents a gallon, and love was only 60 cents away, but the engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954!
Was a great place to grow up in the 60's and the 70's . But I got smarter than the average Bear and moved on in the 80's while the gettin was good . But I have alot of great memories.
@@rmanna It actually was a great place to grow up . All good things must come to an end I guess . I remember downtown was packed with people, stores, and things to do. It was safe and kids were everywhere. We played golf, skiing and skating and great concerts at the War Memorial Aud . Now I'm 67 years old but I got those great memories. And those you can't take away .
They actually just built a new hospital for the whole city downtown. I have been in Florida the past year so I am no sure if it’s open yet. But I believe they are closing all the others in the city
I'm traveling to Utica in a couple of weeks for a wedding.l You drove past the hotel I'm staying at. Great video. I used Google maps to get the lay of the land but this video was awesome. Any suggestions for something fun to do in Utica? I have a spare day. What about that marsh? Is that a nice hike?
I hate to say it. But I have never done the marsh hike. If you do go please let me know, it could be a cool video. If you have the time be sure to go and check out Utica Coffee while you are in town. It isn’t to far from the hotel, a nice walk if the weather is nice.

Doobie Brothers 6400 attendees I believe it was a record for the Utica aud. So crowded when we left, the pressure was so hard, I almost suffocated then suddenly the window a large one at that, blew out and out the window we all went.

Hess gas station on South Genesee St. I was assistant manager. Fun times and great cars .

I was born in Faxton Hospital in 1969. But my parents moved away to Boston area when I was 2 y. o. Is it still there?

The Utica aud is still there. They do a lot of hockey games for Utica college and the Utica Crunch. Yeah the winters there are no joke.
