- I took a drive around Kingsford and Iron Mountain after this area of upper Michigan got freezing rain all night long, before snowing on top freezing everything in place and creating power outages from trees and limbs breaking. I stopped by the Pine Mountain Ski Jump and also at the Millie Hill Bat Cave before heading back home. No trains today! Darn I know..

Looked the same near Iron river. Then rain on and off all day. Melted some. Roads covered in slush.

When your career is on the road Ill take snow for sure. Well with no power that means Alter isn't shredding autos. Just think of how much extra weight is on a group of say 50 covered hoppers in storage. A lot of dead weight to pull. Thanks for the tour. Don't slip slide away

Nice job, Jason! Heavy wet snow anytime...grew up in Southern Ohio and man heavy Ice is a major headache for so many!
I'm glad I live in Georgia. It's nice 60-70,s degrees weather here, we hardly ever get much snow here in the winter.
Knowing what a conscience driver you are, of course you stopped. I was hoping the truck in the parking lot would do some donuts. Not only a lot of fun, but, also gives you practice in sliding recovery. Very interesting video.

I used to live up in Ishpeming/Negaunee area. I now live in Madison, WI. I miss the area, but not the winter up there. Winter down here is bad enough!
That is some wicked freezing rain you’ve got there. I left Ottawa, Ontario (they get freezing rain too) and came back to much more pleasant Victoria BC. It rains a lot with a few days of snow in winter. The weather forecast for you says above freezing tomorrow then more snow, below freezing for several days.
Got to use that snow for traction!

Gimme snow any day. We get big ice storms here in the mid-south. Sometimes 3 or 4 inches of ice with snow on top. Not often, but it does happen.
Beautiful trees but so dangerous. Here in North Idaho we don't get many ice storms. There was one in the 90s before we moved here and people still talk about it! We did have a thunderstorm roll thru about 2 hrs ago. Not much noise or lightning but rain came down really hard. Drive safe when you are out wandering around!
Second winter.
In 1998 we had days of ice storms across eastern provinces of Canada with Saint John having rolling black outs with lines falling like leaves in the fall. transformers bursting and sparks flying. if we had wet snow after it been a sure nightmare. looks beautiful but nasty.
I would rather have heavy wet snow. Jason, I'm a fitness walker and I don't like it when there is freezing rain because then I can't walk.
Well get ready for some more Tuseday night and Wednesday 3/29 & 3/30.

I hate ice storms. Its a terrible mess. Never fun. Well it's fun to look at because it is pretty but you pay the price for that prettiness. 👍

Ice is the worst thing for an olde guy. I literally cannot fall without being seriously hurt. Snow is better (?) in that it can be deep enough to cushion your fall. Ugh I need a🍺, 🥃Aye!🍺chaser.
I rather have rain over any of those you mentioned. I have bad knees and I can't walk in snow and forget it when it comes to ice. The pavement has to be clear of ice and snow for me to actually be able to walk.
Not from the U P but in ohio lived though all the above. I'll just put up with what the great creator hands me. Just stay safe.

I HATE ice! Would rather have just snow. It is beautiful to view after the fact, but so destructive. I have fallen twice this winter on ice and it wasn't good.
The combined reason Noone was oit riding about is fuel prices
