    2:51 yea when we got the big reveal in lego star wars episode 5 we see vader point to a picture of anakin next to padme and i was like holy shit they actually made the scene work without dialogue and actually made watching episodes 1-3 useful

    • @Betta66
      @Betta66 7 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Not only that, but giving every character certain abilities and no dialogue made Jar Jar Binks somewhat tolerable. Though I did love that part of the forest fight in LEGO SW:TFA when Kylo Ren tries to pick up Luke's lightsaber using the Force and basically says "I could just walk over and pick it up, but that wouldn't look as cool."

    I agree with the thing about LEGO games being funny. But when voices were added it lost the charm. I mean Lego Batman 2 was fine, it was an original story, the others just rely on visual gags that aren't particularly charming. It was hilarious to see Indy Jones fighting nazis without anyone saying a word, now it's just the plot with death jokes. No I'm not kidding, LotR was mostly jokes at dead peoples expense. Sure they were plastic but they were still sentient and ALIVE!

    • @shaydystheshadowqueen9584
      @shaydystheshadowqueen9584 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      At least LOTR had actual movie lines that fit the story. Though harkening back to an adaptation study class I took in university, it is quite annoying how the game forces you to follow the plot instead of letting you muck about and have obi wan beat up jar jar.

      The Wii wasn't a complete disaster. Yeah, Nintendo should't have made a console that focused on motion controls. But it had its moments just like any other console. The Wii-U was just a bad idea. I miss Nintendo games that just used a controller. I really hope they stop the hardware gimmicks with their new system.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      TheDuckClock The only reason they added the second gamepad support "for the system" was because people complained about the "1 gamepad-only" issue. So fromthe start the support for the second pad was just Nintendo basically going "there,you happy,now fuck off while we make games that support ONLY ONE GAMEPAD".
      Heck,I recallthey were asked what gameswouldsupport 2 pads when they announced the second gamepad support and they basically wentmute then instantly changed the subject.

      @RomanThuesen 10 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      That's what Bioshock has been from the beginning. It's a game that says "Hey! Look at yourself! What the monkey-fuck are you doing with your life?!? You can be so much better than this!". The whole series is a satirical look at human nature and the hypocrisy we wrap ourselves in to feel better about what we really are.

While upgrade-able weapons and the way you build your car determining how your vehicle handles are good, I like the bigger map, piece, and weapon variety more. Exploring worlds and destroying cars during races are also things I like about LR2. However, I like the larger variety of minifigs in LR1(If it wasn't, it still seemed like it to me).

    I distinctively remember when I played lego star wars on gba that collecting money was all I did for days. This was because it took so long to get enough to buy any of the characters besides the ones you didn't already get or the ones you had to buy but were about as "cool" as charlie sheen is "winning". it almost broke the game for me, but the gba version had boss fights that had more than just " hit that guy a lot!". they actually had a frequent challenging quick time event thing.

    I believe that the main reason Lego city undercover didn't have local multiplayer was because the Wii u couldn't handle it without blowing a fuse and this is most apparent in the next Lego game for he Wii u, Lego Marvel Heroes. It also tries to do the open city world thing with drivable vehicles except this one attempted local multiplayer, and while entirely fine when playing solo, the second another person tries to join in, the frame rate tanks and chugs as the Wii u strains to render both players plus the city and in occasions the game has crashed if the players get too separated as the Wii u couldn't cope with having to render opposite ends of the city at once

    Hey, wait a goddamn minute, for people like me with one best friend, Army of Two the Devils Cartel was hours a pretty good fun. Disclaimer, it was the low point of the series by far, "What?" you gasp, "A low point in a series about PMC's being relatively nice if mislead guys, I don't believe it" The second one took it's self less seriously and made the game have some replay ability with various moral choices that you could circumvent your partners opinion on, "Kill all the Pandas you say, we got no problem with that, right Salem?" The Devils Cartel, has a twist at the start that doesn't remind you it was a thing until half way into the actual game, the protagonists are dull, and I add the S loosely seeing as you are limited to being player A and your friend is automatically player B, I can't even be the slightly fun sounding one unless I let my friend be first player, still I played the shit out of it and never deleted it off my PS3 because it's something easy enough that anyone could jump in and be like okay I get it we help each other fight in over the top gun battles and occasionally go berserk and fire an unrealistic amount of bullets out of our single shot antique buffalo rifle. Stealth is no longer a thing which would have made Yahtzee at least not want to rip his dick off about it being shoe horned in, but it was only occasionally in the second and very scripted so you knew if you fucked it up or not, and if you died you spawned only just before you began the stealth so it wasn't exactly a challenge, still it's much more of a modern action game now, which is a major let down for me because I got no end of fun out of shooting my co-op friend at the end of the second one before they even knew there was a button prompt to do so to me.

    And on this stop in the Yahtzee/Zero Punctuation Chronological Bingefest, we see that the outro gets cut down a little, giving us a little bit less of the awesome theme song, but also not showing us the other members of Escapist that most people here don't care about because we're just here for Yahtzee. Well at least I am, but I'm sure that's a little glaringly obvious. ANYWAYS, MOVING ON.

    Most of the WiiU titles that were out at the time of this review were either ports of one or two year old non-exclusives, Wii-grade shovelware, petty movie tie-ins, NintendoLand or ZombieU.
    The 3DS was doing well, but arguments toward the popular opinion of the WiiU's current situation is damn near undeniable.

    When I saw Yahtzee reviewing a Lego game I was quite shocked. I know it's a slow release week, but I would've expected something like Dead Island Riptide or FTL.

    Besides the loading times, I'm loving LC:U. I dig the dsilly humour myself, and the gameplay is solid - as GTA style games go, I'm enjoying it a damn sight more than i did GTA IV, which at the time I felt had run its course compared to the likes of San Andreas. It's just good old dumb fun.

    I'm pretty sure Lego is the perfect company to mentor for Nintendo. They did after all get their main factory burned down more times in a row right after starting up than any other company on record.

    i've heard people call lego city:undercover as metroidvania. whilst it does have certain un-lockables that require certain items to get which is technically metroivania, other M was a better metroidvania game than this because at least that had good combat and the collectibles where more organic to find and they where worth getting.

    I like the Wii U. I like it more than the Wii, at least.
    Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is really the only reason I'll bother saying, because that game is the sole reason I wanted a Wii U (I do like other games on the console, though).

    To Nintendo's credit, they were originally a toy company. They just had this big responsibility to be the innovaters thrown on them after they said "hey this looks like a good market, let's make some stuff", and now that they've made their stuff and gone away from their toy bits, they're a bit stranded.
