    He's definitely at that Stephan Taranto level (above normal human), but I prefer Baxty's use of major - extended arpeggios progressions. And he REALLY knows how to use altered modes and modal modulations/interchange... he's straight amazing at what he does.

    Bastian Martinez and Ignacio Bazeres (who have actually done videos together) are like these absolute phenoms; must be something in the water over there in Chile. But IMO, they are the top players/pickers out there right now, and I think Baxty has the melodic edge, but holy smokes, they are just both so unreal.

    You can tell he grew up worshipping Petrucci and DT (and who didn't?). The first clip sounds like the Erotomania middle section, the second like the Take the Time unison section

    There are 3 guitar players I saw who plays in this style.
    1. Stephan Teranto
    2. Baxty
    3. Ignacio Bezares
    All 3 of them are absolutely incredible
    One thing I wana know about baxty is how is he making that unison kinda synth sound along with his guitar ???

    Having insane economy of motion in your left hand like Roy Marchbank helps a ton and is really good for building dexterity.

    Baxty and Stephen Taranto are top tier in terms of alternate picking, but I prefer Baxty bc he is more melodic, has great feeling in his bends+vibrato and can be more versatile/innovative, also he is representing us Chileans lol

    These so-called shredders have nothing to offer-just soulless scale runs and arpeggios with zero emotion or melody. This guy’s no different. But Mateus Asato is leagues ahead-his playing is vibrant, something these players will never come close to.

    • @justin.hombach
      @justin.hombach  หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      You are comparing two different styles to communicate emotions.
      For example, I Respekt Mateus playing but his playing triggeres no real emotions in me.
      Emotions are an extreme subjective topic. We have to learn that.
      What I want to say is, what creates emotion in you, doesn‘t have to be the same for somebody else, and the other way around…
      And that is totally fine and totally cool :)
      For me, the playing of baxty has more „soul“ and „emotion“ than so many other players, like John Mayer or so. (Or Mateus)
      But that is my subjective opinion and feeling. I can totally understand when someone sees this differently.
      Important is now, to not put my standart onto other people, because I have no right how others should feel about something.
      And I hope here is a little mini lesson for you.
      Those comments leads to nothing and brings nothing. And I know, you can do better :)

    • @aynvaibhav9705
      @aynvaibhav9705 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@justin.hombach Emotions are subjective, no doubt. But when a player consistently leaves millions speechless and inspires countless guitarists, that’s not just ‘subjective’ talent. It's impact. I respect your opinion on Baxty, but when someone like Mateus or Mayer brings nuance, emotion, and musicality to a level that transcends ‘styles,’ it’s more than just a personal preference. It’s mastery. Mateus speaks volumes through his playing-maybe the ‘mini lesson’ here is in learning to recognize it.

      @@aynvaibhav9705 This particular comment section is the most gentlemanly banters I've ever seen when talking about shred/fast vs feel. Wish more people are like you two.
      Those technical playing definitely not gonna make you rich (sell less records, attract less listeners) for example : Gilmour&Santana vs Petrucci&Yngwie. I agre completely with you here.
      I also agree with Justin's opinion, just play what you like, like what you play.

      "These so-called shredders..." which shredders? If you're lumping all shred guitarists into one basket, you don't understand shred. Sure scales and arpeggios in and of themselves aren't musical, but this idea "you have to slow down" to have "feel" is just ignorance.
