    They didn't even interview Colten at the end. It was rude and classless.

    The way they treated Colten was rude. I love how Rollins called him the Iron Hog! I am all in Colten's camp, even more after 24.2.

    I died when Seth Rollins was asked "one word to describe this workout" and he said "ass", that was perfect

    I'm loving it so far, all the elite athletes say that the open doesn't matters, it matters to us mortals! so thanks Dave and Crossfit team for giving us an Open that is challenging and accesible at the same time.

    Neiffer finetuning Justin's rope at 9:22 of WOD - what's the penalty and will Colten get the Golden Barbell?

    I felt bad for Colten, after he traveled to be there, seems like they could've at least given him some air time, if nothing else, to talk about his worldwide win of 24.1.

    Also people in Europe generally don't know Seth. They could at least have made him say he does CrossFit. For a lot of people here the announcement must have been awkward.

    Not that Colten needs anyone feeling sorry for him but thought CrossFit were disrespectful and showed 0 class. Interviewing Justin and then bringing up “it’s a good day quote”, and then not showing any recognition to Colten, let alone empathy.
    From watching BTS this year, I’ve come to learn that Justin is a relentless competitor and we definitely saw that today.
    John Cena v RVD ECW One Night Stand vibes off this in Justin’s Shed 😂

    Here’s why John is right at the beginning. I have a low back injury that I have to watch… there are three movements that I basically don’t do in my everyday life: Deadlifts, DB Snatches, and High volume KB Swings.
    Having hinging 2 weeks in a row essentially says everyone who does crossfit with a low back injury, can’t participate.

    sorry Sevan as I didn't get to this live...BUT I absolutely agree with you on warming up to a heavier bar to better prepare for the WOD weight - Baseball players do it all the time when they warm up with a weighted bat...The theory is sound and not sure why you wouldnt do it...nothing crazy but warm up should be like 1 set at light weight, 1 set at moderate weight, 1 set at WOD weight then 1 set at a slight overload...then get out there crush the wod and some lady fans afterwards...AITA? Keep the great content coming

    John makes a good point about redundancy in movement patterns. We saw the same in 2022. However, the Open does not matter at all anymore. It used to be a balanced test because it qualified people into Regionals (current day Semi-Finals). As long as the QFs take top 25%, the workouts can be literally anything and anyone who is going to be at SFs will move on.

  • @alyssa9452
    @alyssa9452 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

    John is being a little crybaby because he can't show off his strength. Glad you guys pulled up the CrossFit pyramid!
    Also adding, I think this year is great so far. The open is "for everyone", which means they are programming workouts that most people in affiliates can do Rx. THEN the top 25% will make it to quarterfinals where higher skill gymnastics and heavier lifting will be testing.
    Honestly I think CF has finally figured it out. 👌

    • @Dan_8712
      @Dan_8712 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      But the repeat movement patterns are ass.... Anyone that got capped week one is just doing the same workout for an extra 5 minutes. I don't care about strength but the movement redundancy is horrendous

    • @alyssa9452
      @alyssa9452 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Dan_8712 Okay valid point on the movement patterns but I didn't feel like I was doing the same workout two weeks in a row at all. If the workouts were weeks 1 and 3, with a squat/pull up in week 2, would it be better?

    I agree with John Young's frustration. This is a boring open. All hinging and jumping. I feel like next week will be no different. When I first heard the top 25% qualify for Quarterfinals, I thought it was a money grab also. However, now I have a different perspective. It's a GREAT marketing tool for people who have never experienced a CrossFit workout and have very low skills and strength to be able to jump in and compare their scores to other members around the gym. Not just Elite athletes. Who wants to join the open and/or CrossFit affiliate if they see CTB/BMU/HSPU or heavy movements they aren't capable of doing? They would completely miss the stimulus of the workout if they are standing around for most of the workout trying to accomplish their first rep. I bet Quarterfinals will be much better (hopefully).
    P.S. I feel like we'll have a 1RM lift for 24.3. People will be able to lift what they are capable of and not required to make big jumps like 135-185-225-275... etc.

    At the end of the day the cream will separate itself at the top. And if you’re that strong, you should be able to fly faster and get more reps after all, it is a test of fitness. If you want to test strength enter rogue!

  • @Dan_8712
    @Dan_8712 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    CrossFit was really like, how can we progress the open.... I know, lets do the same workout but make everyone do it for twice as long..... As a weak weasel I don't care about strength however I pity everyone that got capped in week 1 because you have to do the same workout for another 5 minutes.

    There should just be 2 Open divisions (Sport and Methodology). Route to the games Open (which should make it matter for the elites and actually test them at all levels: This should be a brutal workout for the Elites) and then a general Test of Fitness for the 99.8% majority who just like to CrossFit health and other reasons like this year's Open so far. The open should not be both, the start of the Games Season and a Community event. Ultimately, CrossFit was not created for a sport but as a methodology and healthy lifestyle. The sport was created since the methodology created beasts in men and women and needed something bigger than the methodology.
