    Are cruise line's making the right choice to invest so much into private islands?
    Which private island sounds like the best fit for your cruise?

      Alanna Zingano I think it has to be completely owned by the cruise line for it to make sense.

      I think the private islands are a great idea for the cruise lines - everyone likes a secluded beach, plus you don't have to worry about tourist traps or shady characters. No fears of criminal activities and no worries about missing the boat! I've been to Castaway Cay and would love to return there again.

    Our first cruise, years ago on NCL, the private island was truly like a deserted island. No splash park, no restaurants, no swim up bars. They loaded charcoal grills and food into the tender, an old WW2 landing craft, and you waded the last bit ashore. It was truly a classic beach party. Grilling on the beach, snorkeling, sun, sand, tropical groves. No development anywhere. What an out-island vacation really should be.

      It is interesting to hear that! I know some cruise lines are trying to back to basics for a more relaxing experience... How did you enjoy NCL?

    Harvest Caye is one of those private destinations you mentioned, not actually owned by NCL, but rather, they’re the only line that can stop there (aside from Regent and Oceania). You can’t use your ship card there. It’s all cash and credit card.

    We are looking forward to doing some of these private islands. We will be at HMC in October. Then we will be at MSC new private island Ocean Cay in March. Another great video. Thank you for sharing.

    What an awesome cruise and private island. It truly was a Perfect Day at CocoCay. There was something for everyone in our group. The kids loved the splash park, the teens loved the slides and the older ones of us absolutely loved Chiill Island and fresh water pool. There were plenty of chairs available so no need to save. The food was fresh and plentiful. RC extended the hours of lunch so we stayed there all day. I brought items from the straw market right there on site. That walking pier is amazing as if you were entering Disney. The shuttle/tram took us back to the ship. We have already planned to go there again. Ill be going to Half Moon Cays next year and it doesn't look half as exciting.

    I love it. Even though I don’t have little kids anymore, because they’re older, I really would love to go to the Disney cruise my sister recommended it and I seen this video how cold it is and the private island too.

    In a word, yes. We generally think the days at private islands are the best on shore days on our cruises.

      Hi Alanna, we just came back from a trip on the Navigator to Coco Cay and you were right, both were awesome! We took it easy on Coco Cay and lounged by the ocean and pool. We reserved the rafts for the ocean which were great for relaxing in the ocean. We would have also done snorkeling and or paddle boarding, but we did that the day before on a Nassau excursion.

    I went to Coco Cay in 2016, and I loved it. Back then it was just a quiet beach with lots of hammocks, lounge chairs, and beautiful beaches. There is also wildlife on the island such as chickens and iguanas. I loved that the crew brought lunch to the island so we did not have to spend more money or return to the ship to eat.

    I am new to watching your video and hearing about the islands that you spoke about...From the information that you provided, I would LOVE ❤ to visit all of them!!! Each island looked to have something different to try...Is there a list somewhere as to what cruise lines own what islands? If so, where can this be found? At the present time I am traveling with my brother and his wife on Carnival Cruise Lines...

    I booked an ocean villa on great Stirrup cay for March ! They now have a small version of the Mandara spa by the villas so you can book a massage overlooking the sea! The downside is the tender situation. They seem to miss the port more than make it due to rough seas. I believe a dock will be added at some point.

    • @CruisetheWorldAtoZ
      @CruisetheWorldAtoZ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Laura that sounds lovely! Great Stirrup cay is part of the Barry Islands and they often have issues with winds that can be an issue for the tenders. Perfect Day at Coco Cay is their island neighbor and they now have a dock and every now and then the weather can mess up their docking as well. Can be a bummer but what are you to do!? I'm sure you will enjoy the ocean villa!

    How many of the private islands allow you to use your cruise line drink package? I recall that not all honor the drink package. Love your channel and enjoy your live broadcasts.

    Private islands are attractive to me for relaxation and security reasons. I would like to try it and see if my nerves benefit. I kind of gave up on going "south" as the vendors are always on the sell. Always. I know people need to make bucks but its so in your face constantly, I find it exhausting. I need a rest from the "vacation" when I get home. Congrats on the 10g subs!

    "cay" is actually pronounced "key". Don't know why, but that is how it is.

      @CruisetheWorldAtoZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right! And a great way to remember it is, they are the "key to paradise". You will hear me say both as CoCoCay likes to have it rhyme 😉
