In most cases battery doesn't die completely. It becomes weak to crank up the engine, so a kick helps to start in that case. This is definitely a cost cutting from manufacturers and that too a bad one.
I agree with you. I faced this problem in my FZ V3, battery failed to crank the engine after 2 years and I had to replace the battery with new one. First battery which comes while purchasing the bike is only having one year warranty. So I couldn't get any warranty.

Kick starter is not only used when the bike isn't able to self start but also during cold starts. When the battery temperature is low and the engine is cranked, it puts much more load on the battery as compared to when the battery is at its normal operating temperature. Also when batteries go old, sometimes they cannot even crank the motorcycle in the mornings, this is when the kick starter is a saviour.
You are not taking the advancements in battery technology and also efficient engine desings. My prevoius bike is FZ which is of 2010 model it never let me stress NOT EVEN SINGLE time had cold start issue. Also batteries have evolved so much, it doesn't matter weather the battery is at 20c or 40c they operate just same. Yes extreme temperatures will have effect but in India, thats not the case. We need to get rid of that old mind set where you have to start with kick start then wait for it to heat up etc. MT15/R15 has auto warmup feature. It will take care of the engine operating temperature on start up. Removing kick has their own benifits.. Weight, extra rotor, more drag, etc to name a few.
@@bankniftylivedata5765 they don't operate the same bro. You cannot see the stress on the battery unless you're right there on the top of the battery with a voltmeter. Try it on an old battery, the morning start will show a bit hickup but as it warms up it will start operating as normal.

If the battery has low voltage, yes it will struggle to crank the engine but it will not operate as normal because it warms up, rather the bike actually charges the battery after it started. Which in turn raises the battery voltage temporarily hence it will work normal for that day. But once you turn it off and keep it for long time, the battery discharges again and it will have problem starting the bike. Generally this means battery needs to be replaced. These days batteries are made for wide operating temperatures so temperature is not the issue but charge holding is the issue in case the battery fails. Also thanks to electronics, ECU will let you know one way or other that battery needs to be replaced.. Atleast in Yamaha. My MT came with Exide battery which has very bad QC. It failed just after 6 months. I don't even know that battery failed but I got engine check light turned on. So I went to showroom and in the system it showed battery is dead. (Bike still running and turning on with that battery) which means ECU was programmed by Yamaha to check the battery capacity and health and indicate in the Diag mode. Went with Amaron and never had another issue. I got replacement battery for free but even that failed with my inverter. One thing i realised is that Exide has very bad QC control.

I Had Hornet 160r BS-IV Carburetor Engine Which Has Kick Start.. 10 Days Ago I Purchased Pulsar NS125 Which Is Fuel-Injected And It Also Has A Kick Start. I have fuel injection system in my bike honda shine bs6 varient but one day my self was not working in traffic...and i got panicked since people honk from back side....that time kick helped me to start my bike.... similar cases has happened with my friends.....if batteries die completely then giving 2-3 kicks atleast supplies little current to fuel injection system and other electronic parts....and the loop continues on as bike starts...since battery and all other electronic parts are connected with alternator parallely... after this kind of self problem you can go for service check for battery...but it kick saves you from self problem...you are wrong
Kick in lower cc bike is helpful and yes it's a cost cutting strategy too. If battery dies, you can use the kick for starting all the elecronic system. Someday if a popular company adds kick in future, then other company may again start giving kick🤣. It will be a nice competition....lol
The first commercial bike in India with fuel injection technology was Hero Glamour PGM-Fi followed by Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSFi. Yamaha R15 came much later. Everyone was shocked by the absence of kickstart in Pulsar at that time and moreover, the electric start on it was unreliable.
Kick is very important for starting a bike whether you use any tech . Many people are suffering on the middle of road. Don't trust on without kick bikes, they deceive you any time , any where.

Hero is always behind the times, instead of complaining get your bike serviced on time so you can get battery charged on time, also starting on 2nd gear isn’t a huge task, you should workout more frequently as such frail muscles are not good for anyone.
my avenger 220 gave me many such issues in cold winters if you don't start the bike for few days.... totally frustrating...difficult pushing that heavy bike to start also. Sold it off...bought a honda activa 😇 now I have peace of mind
I own a pulsar 150 twin disc bs4 version which lacks kick. It's been over 3.5 years now but still never faced any issue regarding self, it used to start in 1st or 2nd self. I generally ride my bike only in weekend, service center guys told me to start the bike in every 1 or 2 days but I haven't face issue, not even in peak winter, just switch on the choke ! So don't worry and buy any bike you guys want. And now days bikes are coming with fi , no need of kick, my bike is carb !

My Apache 200 4v Carburettor version had a battery problem soon after delivery, it is a carburetted bike keep in mind but does not have a kick start, I had pretty embarrassing moments and of course lot of problems as well!! I wish there was a kick start, very bad decision by the motorcycle manufacturers for sure.
Still, kick should've been provided. As you said, it can help the engine to start which will start the generator to deliver energy to the electronic components.

Let me add to what he said, why they went all in electronics? Simple reason efficiency and performance at the same time. MT can reach 130kmph easily at the same time it can also give an average of 50kmpl. Which would be impossible for a carburator engine. You can either run rich or lean. But with FI, you can actively vary the fuel injection time to give more petrol or just keep the engine alive.
Bro my Pulsar 220F is 2013 carburetor model and it did not come with a kick rod. I still have the bike and changed batter 5 times. Battery lasts 2 years max for me. I still like to have a kick rod on any bike. Kick starting a bike is an emotion😊 And it was a total surprise for me to not have a kick rod after owning pulsar 150 for 9 years.
Xblade BS6 ( with Fuel Injection) battery had a complaint. So, removed it and rode the bike with kick start for around 200kms, until got new battery. 🙂

In india most budget bikes hv lead acid battery and not lithium ion battery like new 4 wheelers.. therefore in cold weather below 10 degrees the battery even if fully charged is not that efficient...
I still prefer bike with Kickstart. I sold CBZ Xtreme 2012 model without kickstart and bought Xtreme 200r with Kickstart. Self Start of CBZ Xtreme became weak and I had to walk long way.
This is pure cost cutting. Whatsoever be the explanation for removing the kickstart from bikes, kick start is an important segment of any motorcycle. Recently, I was on my bike and it was running on a national highway. At one point of time, the self start was not working and stranded in the middle of the highway. (Just 1 year old Apache bike) Had there been a kick start I could have easily started the bike and returned back home safely. Also, the more complex things are added like sensors and all, bikes have started to be more prone to various problems. I have an old bike (Discover 150) more than 12 years old, which doesn't even have a single problem until now.

If there is a Kickstarter and first start of day is by kick, battery will last at least 5 years unless battery will last 2years and there will be a lot of problem in bike giving lots of headache
if a rider has a bike with kick+self, he would be tempted to save battery at times by using leg muscles instead and a battery can last longer and the battery makers may not like the idea.😁
Mere bhai Vehical me ALTERNATING Current(AC) nahi hota sirf DC hota hai.. Alternator sirf DC current deta hai. Otherwise hame additional invetor lagana padega battery ke liye
Bro the bike works on dc current,the alternator produce ac current but the rectifiers converts it to dc current and all the electronics components run on dc current in bike.
the truth is cost cutting, not only have companies increased the price of most bikes above 1 lakh, but also have started removing essential features like a kick start, which is very important in Indian conditions. Its like removing headphone jack from smartphones and showing as if thats a good thing because premium segment phones and iPhones don't have headphone jack, here the truth is plain and simple, "cost cutting".
Few days ago my pulsar 150's battery was dead I buyed the bike in May 2022 I had kickstart so I started what would the owner do who doesn't have kick in that situation.
I have bajaj 150 Avenger street, it has carburetor, & no kick, but if my battery is down or no battery in it then i am unable to do push start as well. I have faced this low battery issues multiple time. Can you suggest any solution because I got surprised that it has neither have kick nor push start if battery is low or battery is missing. Thanks

Kick is very important in bikes. Reason is in winters bike doesn't start by it's self switch,so we need start is by kick.

Splendor,pulsar,shine etc..... has fuel injection and kick start.

Let me add to what he said, why they went all in electronics? Simple reason efficiency and performance at the same time. MT can reach 130kmph easily at the same time it can also give an average of 50kmpl. Which would be impossible for a carburator engine. You can either run rich or lean. But with FI, you can actively vary the fuel injection time to give more petrol or just keep the engine alive.
Always kick start is reliable where electric start depends upon battery condition.

Bro my Pulsar 220F is 2013 carburetor model and it did not come with a kick rod. I still have the bike and changed batter 5 times. Battery lasts 2 years max for me. I still like to have a kick rod on any bike. Kick starting a bike is an emotion😊
And it was a total surprise for me to not have a kick rod after owning pulsar 150 for 9 years.
Xblade BS6 ( with Fuel Injection) battery had a complaint. So, removed it and rode the bike with kick start for around 200kms, until got new battery.

In india most budget bikes hv lead acid battery and not lithium ion battery like new 4 wheelers.. therefore in cold weather below 10 degrees the battery even if fully charged is not that efficient...
I still prefer bike with Kickstart. I sold CBZ Xtreme 2012 model without kickstart and bought Xtreme 200r with Kickstart. Self Start of CBZ Xtreme became weak and I had to walk long way.

This is pure cost cutting. Whatsoever be the explanation for removing the kickstart from bikes, kick start is an important segment of any motorcycle.
Recently, I was on my bike and it was running on a national highway. At one point of time, the self start was not working and stranded in the middle of the highway. (Just 1 year old Apache bike)
Had there been a kick start I could have easily started the bike and returned back home safely.
Also, the more complex things are added like sensors and all, bikes have started to be more prone to various problems.
I have an old bike (Discover 150) more than 12 years old, which doesn't even have a single problem until now.

Bro the bike works on dc current,the alternator produce ac current but the rectifiers converts it to dc current and all the electronics components run on dc current in bike.

Few days ago my pulsar 150's battery was dead I buyed the bike in May 2022 I had kickstart so I started what would the owner do who doesn't have kick in that situation.
I have bajaj 150 Avenger street, it has carburetor, & no kick, but if my battery is down or no battery in it then i am unable to do push start as well.
I have faced this low battery issues multiple time. Can you suggest any solution because I got surprised that it has neither have kick nor push start if battery is low or battery is missing. Thanks
