honestly al the people that were confused or mad about it "not being live other than in studio" i dont get it, the did really well for what the had to work with, it just sucks that he broke his foot

My biggest concern for when I watch. I know Vanessa doesn't have to be like Idina (everyone channels themselves into rolls differently), but Idina ownedd that roll. If you're not 100% on it we will be able to tell. I'd say its really about spirit. Tbh the only person in this video (who isn't already famous) that seemed like they took the roll to continue telling the story of RENT is the guy playing Collins. Everyone else just kinda seemed like they either really wanted a part in RENT (which is fine) or are trying to support the communities involved. Support is great and all but performance is so much more than that, telling the story needs to come from the soul every time not outside influences. Also Tinashe just doesn't look like she has that Mimi sensitivity, she is fierce and strong but emotional? I don't feel that as much. We will see, I'm still looking forward to watching but I cannot lie, I have some emotional expectations haha xD
Update: Just watched Vanessa perform Over the Moon, which I reallyyy liked. And then watched Take Me or leave Me which was ok but felt a bit forced. My only thing is that it seems they're trying too hard to be like those previously in the rolls instead of embodying themselves fully into the roll. I can feeeeel them trying to recreate RENT instead of telling their version of the story. But it is still cool and pretty good! I'm curious to see the rest.

I watch this when it aired. The boy who played Mark was regularly flat, and Vanessa Hudgens is no Idina Menzel. I was underwhelmed.
