So yes, it is technically brain damage. However OP is lying about saying that it's bred to specifically have this issue. People want the spider web like pattern on its body, not the deformity that causes it problems, as even for shallow people who don't care it's near impossible to brush over these problems and the snakes take much more care due to the damage.
Additionally, spider ball pythons have existed with no human intervention, and are natural in the wild due to pythons cross breeding on their own and creating different patterns. Some breeders are known for taking ones straight from the wild (which is a whole other problem in of itself), the brain damage was never intentionally done by humans as the only thing they want is the pattern. Some breeders have been trying to uncouple the wobble from the pattern so that people can keep the snakes with the spider web pattern without the snakes themselves suffering, similar to how people have been breeding the snout back into pugs and creating the retro pug. However this seems to be near impossible, as multiple attempts to do this have failed and the spider pattern and the wobble seem to be completely linked as of current study, much like how with cats the calico pattern is linked with females and any male ones are completely sterile. Though theoretically they could still be decoupled, it would take way too many suffering snakes to do this and scientists don't think it's worth it for the sake of a cool snake pattern.
They were never purposefully inbred for this, nor can I find anything on the snakes being purposefully inbred for this specific problem they have. It's just considered unethical to purposefully breed the spider ball python for aesthetic purposes knowing that the snake will experience constant vertigo and problems doing snake things, which I agree with. Now keep in mind the wobble is not severe for all snakes, and some have a wobble that is barely noticeable and doesn't affect their quality of life. However for some it's so bad that they starve to death due to being unable to eat, and as OP said they tangle into their own bodies and can even strangle themselves. It's not worth the risk of the snake suffering more than it ever should, and if you want a spider ball python you shouldn't get one from a breeder. It is similar to the pug, but these snakes can naturally occur in the wild and were discovered in the wild. Now of course possible inbreeding could've made this problem worse, but inbreeding was never purposefully done to make the disorder worse, rather to instead ensure some minor pattern differences, or because whoever is breeding them doesn't care enough to find a different spider ball python. In fact the only source I can find that says spider ball pythons as a whole are an inbred morph is Google's AI Gemini, while real sources and discussions I can find on the matter are actually people asking which other morphs should they breed their spider morphs with to specifically avoid inbreeding. This is not the same as the miniature bully or the pug.
If you want to know more the paper that discovered the ear canal issue was published on the National Library of Medicine, it's titled "Malformations of the sacculus and the semicircular canals in spider morph pythons." I'd send a direct link but I know TH-cam would delete my comment before it even posts because God forbid we show our sources.

That dog was a medical disaster and had to be extremely medicated just to be able for it to be somewhat comfortable. He was a younge dog, around 2-3 years old!
He does have a home now, with a good family who love him. He costs a lot of money though for his meds alone....
    ___
Also XL Bullies in the UK are illigal. BUT the law is really stupid because an XL Bully is not a breed and is infact a crossbreed. It's measured on measurements. We had 2 siblings come in; both the same litter and both measured. 1 had to be leagaly put to sleep becuase it was measured as an XL Bully while the other was legally deemed not an XL Bully. No known behaviour issues with the dogs, both were friendly with all dogs and people. But that is the law and the law which people support....
Also is very much true that it's the breed and the owner combined. Most people will use some form of force/negative punishment to train their dogs (to all levels of low to extreme); each dog/breed react differently to that. Certain breeds will be more submissive where as other breeds are morre reachtive; basically fight or flight. Although persoanlity does pay a huge part in this. But generally the people taking on the huge status breeds think they need to "dominate" or forcefully correct their dogs; causing anxious/dangerous animals.
There is a HUGE difference in the dogs when they are trained with a much more friendly approach; that applies to all dogs.

I know this video is related to the Micro American Bully, but you did bring up the pug, so I might as well mention something:
I actually heard that there's a surgery for flat-nose dogs like Pugs that'll allow them to breathe normally.
Which means that while they'll still have flat noses, they'll be able to breathe normally and not constantly suffocate.
I actually don't remember the name of the surgery, but I know I met a pug who actually went through that and is now living fine. :3
    So, word of advice:
If you get a pug that's not the Retro Pug, and you have enough money lying around, make sure to get your pug some surgery, so that way he'll still have a flat nose but at least be able to breathe normally.
    Hope that helps. :3

      @mebreevee 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +22

Its similar to a deviated septum surgery in people. Septoplasty. I had to have one.
The struggle is doing that surgery with a very small margin for error when the nose is squashed so close to the skull, and one wrong move can lead to the dog’s death.
Not that I don’t think that isn’t a good option for the pugs that do exist, just that having the ability to have that surgery should not excuse the breeding of animals with such extensive issues in the first place.

Ok so for the pitbull debate, imo its just...the breed COMBINED with the fact that people don't train their dogs well(likely more so than the fact the breed was bred for fighting,or they train them to be agressive),wolves are naturally more aggressive than dogs, because they are wild animals and agressiveness is mostly bred out,but pitbulls were bred for fights(also why they are named pitbulls),hence it makes sense that its more likely to be aggressive, also fun fact, the average bite force of the german shepherd and pitbull are comparable
even a non aggresive small dog can snap out for no reason, but small dogs can't injure you seriously, only maybe puncture the skin and cause at most some slight bleeding.

5:53 That chart is skewed. Yes, they have more lethal attacks, but overall attacks place them much lower. The ATTS is the place to look for if you want non-skewed information on dog temperament and chance of being attacked. Bearded collies are 3 times more likely to bite than a pit bull for example, but also a lot of people call a TON of different breeds "pit bull" because they don't know the difference between an American Staffordshire Terrier and about 50 other breeds of dog. More often, "bully breed" is used to describe everything from pit bulls to dobermans to all sorts of other breeds, and then used for charts like the one you showed.

lizards like komodo dragons naturally stand and walk with their legs like that, the way they walk HELPS them with balance, climbing, and general movement & navigation with their environment. dogs are not supposed to stand and walk like that. they aren’t lizards.

Micro American Bullies are almost pure bulldog (English or French, depending on the line) with just enough American Bully thrown in to give it a long tail. That's why there are so few uncropped micros compared to the other types: if you see an adult with natural ears it's really obvious it's just an extra deformed bulldog.

In the case of the bite data. Alot of the dogs with the higher numbers, Rottweilers and German Shepherds are common guard dog breeds. So the data on them may be skewed based on that fact. No dog is definitive they will always be a little unpredictable unless you can properly read their body language.

In an endless, bottomless sea of misinformation and disinformation about pitbulls I find it funny that telling pitbull haters that I have been growing up and living with these sweet goobers my whole life they tell me I am lucky.
I’m 24. Like that’s enough time for so many things to happen. They’ve saved my life twice and have redefined my concept of love. There are bad apples in every orchard but bringing up meaningless inconsistent statistics from 1976 won’t make me hate them suddenly when I have no reason too. All my sweet little Scout wants to do is be a goober and make me laugh.
She smiles ear to ear when I laugh man… Hate like that has to be heavy on the soul.
Edit: Your take isn’t awful which is refreshing. I felt the same before I owned one and was told all my best dog friends belonging to friends and family I grew up with were pitbulls helped to open my eyes further. Scout changed my world. She is a Blue Brindle and she looks like a part staffy. She looks so sweet and goofy and she is lol. She loves hugs and kisses so if you visit I have to warn you she will lick your face one way or the other.
