When Mark Herman speaks, I listen.
He was great on NCIS.
At Fort Stevenson, I've heard that the young officer that yelled at President Lincoln was future Chief Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes. I've also heard that it could have been other people but the primary argument against it being the future Chief Justice is that it is too cool of a story to be true without strong evidence in support.
Great show. If I didn't already have it, this show would have convinced me to buy this game.
Bravo Ardy and Mark! I do NOT watch unboxings generally. I usually hop around in them just to get a feel for the components of a prospective purchase. But you two have made an unboxing worth watching all the way through. Very comprehensive and informative, glad I gave it a try. Hopefully more designers down the road will be joining Ardwulf and showcasing their new releases and ideas behind them like this in the future.
Mark, the simplified movement, terrain effects, and battle formation mechanics are probably the best innovation for hex and counter games in years. Please keep looking for new ways to speed and simplify game play. We are finally moving from the test tube technology era into microcircuitry.
Thanks Frank, coming from you that really means a lot to me.
Unboxing aside (I have the game punched and clipped, ready to go😂) an excellent discussion gents. I came to the series with Waterloo, but it really started "clicking" with me with the steam version of Gettysburg😁 Really looking forward to the future volumes in the series, as well as expansion into other eras😁
Great discussion. I recently read that Meade had preselected a couple of sites in Maryland and he was pretty pissed that the battle happened at Gettysburg. Neither Lee nor
Meade wanted to fight for that shoe factory. In fact, they had both issued orders NOT to engage. So much for ACW command control - only instead of failing to act, the subordinate commanders acted against their orders. Seems like a great example for some quirky new rules that will really drive gamers crazy!
There's an interesting rule in Last Chance for Victory regarding Devil Dan Sickles' proclivities in that regard.
True, but sometimes the situation does not comply with a general desires.
By the way, the Kindle version of Powell's Chickamauga book is on sale today (March 29th) for $2.99.
Mark Herman I could call the "Willie Mays" of wargaming! His Pacific War game is a HOFamer and all Mark does is age like fine wine. What i wouldnt give to see Mark create a European Theater version of Pacific War.
Great story Mark shares about collaborating w/ Rick Barber. Great post.
I wasn't plamnning on buying as usual made the mistake of watching an unboxing. Mark and you helped seal the deal.
great chat and preview of the next game in the series
Great interview ... I look forward to getting Rebel Fury to the Table!
I really do like the maps. My biggest hangup with Rick Barber haps has always been that I want to hang them on my wall but I don't necessarily want to play on them.
Thanks. Game arriving Monday. Nice to hear from Mark.
Looking forward to this. Hope to pick it up at the spring weekend
Had been talking with a gaming buddy, trying to setup a game, asking him what he wanted to play, he mentioned Rebel Fury. I was able to find a copy for decent price and it is on it's way. It's not WWII and not ASL, so a little out of my comfort zone, but looks interesting and fun, look forward to giving it a whirl...
I found the box more sturdy than some other boxes i have received in the past
Great unboxing! I'm a little jealous that I did not have 'Melon Cam' in my unboxing. 😆
This looks awesome! Must buy game!
Outstanding. Have VOL 1 now and PRE-ORDERED VOL. 2.
Didn’t P500 from GMT but instead preordered from local friendly brick and mortar shop. No copy yet 😢
Very interesting insight.
got mine now i will get it out
ugh, made me buy another wargame... my wife hates when I watch youtube :)
Including the 'small children' for the Union movement boundaries in Fredericksburg must have been cost prohibitive... 😛
I have suitcases full of dice. Please stop putting dice in games for the next 20 years
