Nice set up, you sank the hook early. Even though I’ve read it, and most of LeCarre’s stuff, I was very intrigued where you were going with this… yeah very autobiographical regarding the con man dad. [I recommend the interview by Errol Morris with him… the year before his passing…very honest self reflection] Beautiful book, you’ve convinced me I need to re-read it, al beit a clear mind often a challenge.
As for the war, and the terrible events occurring since Hamas invasion, I wish you and your country the best… as well as the innocents in Gaza. I hope you will be able to shake free from Bibi, and the right wing, currently in power.

Shalom achi, also an Israeli here haha 😁 I justt heard on a Spy Fiction Podcast that this is the "perfect spy book", and I am attempting to write my own spy story, so I guessed I should dive into this one first. I am most interested in the commentary this novel makes about Betrayal and Identity. Thanks! Am Israel Chai 🇮🇱

A remarkable novel. Those looking for chronological exposition will be disappointed. Past, present and future are beautifully woven together. Father and son motifs punctuate the novel. I'd love to see what my students make of this John le Carre novel if I can slip it into their packed reading list. Thank you for your comments, Jonathan.
