- More clarifications: scorched earth policy is never any good!

Barclay de Tolly- Kutuzov- Bagration...los admirables herederos de Suvorov. Excelencia de la Escuela Militar Rusa que enfrentó a Napoleón y sus mariscales.
a bit of an addition from my knowledge (corrections are appreciated). During the beggining of the war, on russian side there were about 210000 troops vs 600000 French troops. Also Russian army as a whole was seperated into 3 smaller parts: Northern Army (Lead by Braclay) consisting of majority (120k) of soldiers, Center army (Bagrations army) and Southern army (Tarmasov). Part of the Scorched earth strategy (apart from dwindling french forces) was to allow for all 3 of these armies to unite. the Northern and Center armies managed to unite under smolenks which meant a success to the strategy.
Apart from war of 1812, he shown himself as a great leader in previous conflicts, such as Swedish war of Catherine the great (where i do believe he was appointed as Grand Duke of finland) and other wars.

Барклай сделал всю кампанию (это моё мнение). Кутузов был поставлен , по той причине, что Барклай не звучал по русски..... его Шотландское происхождение было негативно воспринято обычными русскими. Но Барклай (я подчеркнуто говорю- Барклай! , не Беркли) повел себя правильно в сложившейся ситуации, он "подготовил почву" для разгрома Наполеона... ( это лишь моё мнение)
As a Russian, Barcly De Toly was the architect for the eventual Russian victory after apres Borodino. Kutuzov was a great Russian veteran. but even Kutuzov released the plan of drawing in your enemy was working.
