Your so right about dumbing down society Terri, here in Australia every TV. Commercial is telling us what to do, how to do it... even how to watch out for spoilt food or how to wash your hands etc etc, everywhere you go constant bombardment... I end up ranting randomly 🤔😂😩, love the salves

Completely agree about how we’ve got to a place where colour-coding systems now determine people’s actions, reinforcing the disconnection between felt/observed bodily experience versus what we are told is supposedly happening by ‘the authorities’.
I had all these thoughts around this latest storm which where I was in England was okay a bit windy but not something I’ve not experienced here before. Couldn’t help but think ‘oh dear’ about schools and other venues closing in preparation of the storm. Don’t think this kind of thing would have happened pre-2020!
I haven’t looked at the weather forecast or a weather app for months and prefer to take a read of what the weather is doing with my own senses and body.
Love you Terri, thanks for the birch balm recipe - I’m going to make that for my husband and son’s eczema! xx

...and to your point as regards the dumbing down of society; folks just seem to loathe staying home, or providing for themselves these days. Almost a cult of nanny worship. There seems to be a weakness of faith in a higher power, (any kind of higher power) so people turn to governments.
I was raised in the pacific northwest, where the native cultures lived next to us, and as a jest, these government "powers" were called "The Great Wokondahs", in deference to their utter unnecessary interference in the lives of those of us who lived close to the natural world. I lived 50 miles from Mt St Helens when it blew in 1980. Trust me, we didn't need municipal guidance to tell us not to go up there before it blew. Sheesh.
Great video as usual!! Stay warm and dry!! (We started our seed greenhouse yesterday! Strawberries, chamomile, thyme, storage cabbage, and sweet peas! Lots more in the next wave next month. Also does the varietyof birch matter? We have a Dakota Birch we just planted 2 years ago...) Hugs!

I started a soap business because of your guidance & inspiration. I bought one of your sprays for my Reiki practice and your books. Just today I made a dandelion root/leaf tincture. My husband and I want to come back to Ireland next year for our25th anniversary, I would love to meet you.

Ah, Terri. I always learn a great deal from your videos. Your knowledge and insight are very inspiring for this old mind. I’ve always been a lover of salves, soaps and such.. so this was a quite enjoyable video to watch. Black Spruce totally lifts me… it renews and gives me grounding again. Your comments on the “Nanny” state is spot on. It’s even worse here in the states. The saddest thing of all is that sooo many people are settling for this era of being told what to do like a child. Lord knows, if my parents and grandparents were alive today, they’d be quite shocked at how lax we’ve become. What ever happened to being an adult and making up your own mind? I pray the world will wake up. Many thanks and blessings your way, Terri! Please keep smiling and sharing your strong positive outlook! It’s so needed in this world we live in today. Oxo

Thank you Terri and Lol, for your beautiful and beneficial work for humanity and the earth! I agree Terri, so many people are so 'out of touch' with their soul and spirit and sadly Mother Earth / Father Sky. I am so happy to be in nature daily to sense and predict weather, tell time by the sun, hear the many messages from the animals and birds, and for me the deep love and knowledge of the plant and mineral kingdoms. All of this teaches me to be open to the greater realms and beings of benevolence. Thank you both for following your soul's journey ☘️🍀☘️

Hi Terri. I’m Linda from Texas, USA and so thankful to find your channel. I came across it while searching for healthy alternatives to taking blood pressure prescriptions which I don’t want to take. I ordered Hawthorn berry and now drink its tea along with eating dandelions, chickweed and clover I find in the yard. I am learning so much from your videos. My heritage is Irish and have visited. I loved it. I greatly appreciate your time in sharing your knowledge and experience. 🥰

It is my pleasure to leave a comment dear Terri! As a dermatologist, which I am, I truly love the balms you have prepared. Coconut oils and shea butter are a great base for them. Appart from being excellent emollients, they are a rich source of escential free fatty acids antioxidants and vitamins that keep our skin functional barrier healthy and immunocompetent. Love the videos!!

Thank you Terri for another great, educational, helpful video, as always.❤️. Storm or no storm, your lovely place, garden, kitchen, your beautiful dogs, your warming voice, your caring, passionate personality just give us warmth. As for the storm “traffic lights”, you are so right. It is ridiculous indeed. It is a very lazy society. People rely on someone else to tell them how, what to think, what to do. Common sense has disappeared. I think common sense should be on the school curriculum. It should be prescribed by medical healthcare, as it is a vital part of our lives. We need to grow up! Anyway, thank you Terri!❤️

I agree with your nanny-state assessment of unnecessary weather warnings. People need to look outside and stand in the wind a bit. There ARE times and places for warnings: approaching blizzards, ice storms, sudden temperature drops and I am glad for that in order to plan my day and take care of animals. But overall, telling somebody to be careful because it's going to be windy and raining...really? Thanks for a lovely tutorial on how to make salves. It looks simple for a beginner like me!

    • @DanusIrishHerbGarden
      @DanusIrishHerbGarden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Ha ha! "Really?" You are so right. It might do people some good to feel wind through their hair and feel the power of Nature. Don't be scared of making a salve - it is the simplest form of remedy . Have a go! xx

My grandmother used to make lye soap and pour it into little rose molds. Anything rose is a favorite, so I love the bath balms you've made, especially. I like the name of your academy -- Hawthorn is such a great heart tonic. I've been using it since having a certain virus and feel it strengthens me as I tire more easily and just need some heart healing in other ways, too. I love and appreciate Mother Nature so much! Thank you for your calm, informative, beautiful videos!

It is sad isn't it - to see how the younger generation are a step removed and see the world through a screen. Screens are like an extra limb. We have an old set of encyclopedias and rarely look at it - we just use the computer. We are all terrible for looking for the easiest and quickest option. xx

Hi Terri. I love what you said about the dumbing down of society. It is definitely happening.
We got hit pretty bad with the storm here in our part of West Clare but it didn't stop my housemate and I from being outside, mixing concrete for a base for my IBS tanks which I'm going to use to collect rainwater for my veg garden. Sure we had to shout at one another because of the wind and we got soaked through but we were perfectly safe. One of the local ladies even went out for her daily walk. She is not fazed by a storm either. One just has to use common sense, no need for colour coded warnings.

love the add of the rose petals and poppy seed...the great thing about making your own, is that if a wee one would get a hold of it and eat some of it, they are going to get sick or worse die.! Here in the states we have had a problem with children eating tide laundry pods. When I was little I KNEW not to eat soap. Which is probably why we now have wind warnings and burn warnings for our yard waste.

Thank you Terry for the easy done things you do!
Here in Sweden we have snow and hard grounds. So I am up to with collecting birch buds to make a tasty herbal salt. I put it in small tiny bottles and use them as presents. And I Will make some soap as well. Still have a little birc SAP left in the freezer. I make your cocnut soap an put powdered rose , calendula or nettle in to it. And an infusion of these herbs. And the soaps last for a long time. I use flower molds and massage soap molds. I love them because they are not scented. I hope I can go to Ireland this year and enjoy nature and riding .

Thank you Terri, We are supposed to get 6 to 9 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow, sounds like a perfect project! I agree about the nanny state, I like just getting a heads up, I'll take it from there on, if I stay in or go out. The old saying goes, "there are only bad clothing choices, not bad weather". Have food on hand gives you that choice to hunker down and ride it out instead "have to" go out. In my area, you see people wearing shorts, and no jacket in the winter (sub zero temps), clearly they have a lot of trust in technology not failing. Me not so much.

I'm swooning over the emerald color of that birch oil! Good morning Terry. I’m happy to hear the storm didn’t bring any damage to your property. I’m on the Atlantic coast of Canada, so we got it just before it headed off across the ocean. Lots of very high winds and buckets of rain. I was able to see some bare ground in the garden, but it snowed last night, so the white blanket is back. It will be April before we’re able to plant a few peas and greens, but the first of my leek seeds have germinated, and I’ll be planting more today along with onion seeds.
I managed to make lots of tinctures last fall, and have plans for loads more this year. Lemon balm is my favourite-and most used-but the lavender and rose tinctures are so beautiful. I had my first (very small) crop of stinging nettles, so just a small amount from that.
Don’t you love it when a creative streak hits? It helps us get through the long winters here. Thanks for all the sharing and teaching you do to make the world a better place. Happy creating!

I agree with you regarding the weather warnings. I stopped paying attention to them years ago when I realized they were dictating my decision making. At one point in my life I had a job that no matter the weather I had to go out in it and more often than not what " they" had predicted was very much exaggerated. I free-ed myself from mainstream media altogether Thank you once again for the lovely video Teri. Love from Canada 🇨🇦
