Commission is tricky, most states legally you cannot buy your own product unless you are a booth renter. The salon owner can get in a lot of trouble if they make you buy your own products/ tools, etc. they are suppose to provide everything for you. Also, you talk about 40/60, or whatever the rate may be, you have to think of it this way, if you’re a booth renter, that “$100” you just made is not ALL going in your pocket, that’s paying for your rent, products, website, etc. so when you’re commission, the owner buys everything for you and that “40%” that you make ALL goes into your pocket. So sometimes commission stylists make more!
In the long run once you factor in your time and expenses- it’s break even . Question is -Do you want team support and less headaches- ??go commission. You do not own a “business “ . You literally bought yourself a job. Once you have employees- then you own a business that is scalable. Otherwise you own a job that has limits. I will say - you do provide a more balanced view than many new renters. I always say it’s better to work as a team and have less headache. A good commission salon will coach you and take the responsibility for the minutiae. Especially if you are in child rearing years.
You nearly getting close through 10k Danielle yupppp I'm excited because I just wanted to say that you are grateful and you are amazing Supporter I'm so excited
Alsooo, Where I’m from in Canada (Toronto) after getting 1500 hours in cosmetology school we have to then apprentice and earn another 2000 hours before we can become licensed hairstylists 😭

Do I need a business license or LLc to booth rent?
so would you say working commission for whole year helped you gain experience and learn on how to be a renter ?
Definitely!
I love your content! Thanks for sharing ❤️

How do you get insurance as a stylist?
How much do u work a week? How many clients do U take per day? Monthly rate?
I work 4 days a week, i take anywhere from 3-6 clients a day depending on the services and i’d say my monthly rate is around $5-6k
@@DanielleRounds thank you!😍
How many hours a day usually
@@julialoughlin645 i work 8 hours a day
@@rzy4701 The girls in my salon take home between 800-$1500 a DAY!!!!!!!!!! (Boston). I charge them $400 a week but they get a lot of perks.
